    Engineer in Training Program (JHB East Rand)

    WHAT TO EXPECT:

    REQUIREMENTS

    • A completed Matric qualification.
    • Must have at least completed one of the following qualifications:
    • Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering/ Extraction Metallurgy;
    • Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering/ Extraction Metallurgy;  or
    • Bachelor of Technology/ Advanced Diploma in Chemical Engineering/ Extraction Metallurgy.
    • Acquired at least an overall average of 70% at tertiary level.

    Operator: SBP and Bar Casting (JHB East Rand)

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Production of the 1 kg, 100 g, 12.5 kg bars as per production requirements.
    • Production of the 12.53 kg bar within the approved LBMA mass, assay give-away and quality.

    SBP Plant operational duties:

    • Make-up packets under the guidance of the Supervisor.
    • Operating the robot, while ensuring that no granules are spilt in the process.
    • Melting of kilobars on the as per production requirements.
    • Weigh and grind bars to correct mass to comply with the mass give-away and clean bars if required.

    Bar Casting Plant operational duties:

    • Melting large bars as per production requirements.
    • Clean bars for quality inspection.
    • Always maintain good housekeeping within the plant.
    • Wear the correct PPE at all times and ensure that SHEQ procedures are strictly followed and advise team members accordingly.
    • Work efficiently within the team and be able to rotate duties and equipment upon request.
    • Customer complaints must be kept at zero.
    • Melting of material in the induction and granulation furnace.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • A completed Matric certificate qualification.
    • Must at least have acquired 1-2 years of working experience within a manufacturing environment.

    SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

    • Industrial manufacturing process knowledge.
    • SHEQ knowledge - able to comply and support SHEQ procedures.
    • Technical plant knowledge.
    • Equipment knowledge - understand how to operate equipment safely and effectively.
    • Metal behaviour knowledge - able to determine the state metals are in at any given time.
    • Bar casting: basic task for cleaning and preparing bar for QC inspection for mass and physical appearance.
    • SBP: basic cleaning and preparing bar for QC inspection for mass and physical appearance ;know when the conditions are correct for these processes.
    • Sound analytical skills.
    • Strong organisational skills.
    • Strong teamwork behaviour.
    • Solution oriented with a proactive, efficient and independent work style

    Assistant Mass Metrologist (JHB East Rand)

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:       

    • Adhere to the following when conducting duties:
    • SHEQ standards and practices.
    • Quality system, i.e. ISO17025.
    • Mass Metrology practices and procedures.
    • Training procedures.
    • Perform and evaluate measurements on identified mass pieces with participants in the Interlaboratory Comparisons Scheme, in order to comply to ISO17025 requirements.
    • Coordinate and perform calibration/ checks for different weights and balances. Should be able to perform these duties with minimal supervision.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • A completed Matric certificate qualification.
    • A Mass Metrology certificate obtained from the National Laboratory Association.
    • A relevant tertiary qualification (Degree, Diploma or National Certificate).
    • At least have up to 5 years of working experience in a similar role.

    SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

    • Organised thinking – able to plan and manage tasks.
    • Be able to work under pressure from time-to-time.
    • Attention to detail – able to apply and recollect detail relevant to work.
    • Conduct work duties in a consistent manner.
    • Organised thinking - able to plan and manage tasks.
    • Analytical skills which have been acquired through tertiary education.
    • Clearly understand and execute Metrology practices.
    • Have an understanding of the Metrology verification process and its application.
    • Plant operation – understand the process streams and how Metrology impacts production.
