Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12.
• One year experience in an Electrical workshop environment.
• The successful completion of a basic electricity/safety course will serve as an added advantage.

Primary Duties

• Assist the Artisan with general electrical maintenance including cable work, stripping, repairing and assembling various types of electrical plant and equipment.
• General assistance by identifying, handling of tools, power tools and testing equipment.
• Assist in the Electrical Stores as from time to time required.
• General cleaning, maintaining and lubricating tools and equipment. Cleaning of panels, switch gear and transformers as well as the cleaning of departmental vehicles and mobile transport.
• Transporting of electrical equipment and tools to and from the work sites
• Keep workplace environment hygienically clean.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 combined with NQF level 3 certificate in Water and Waste Water treatment.
• Two years’ experience of which one year must be either in a plant environment or one year in a water purification environment.
• Computer literate.
• A valid Code 08 Driver‘s license and the ability to pass Rand Water’s K53 test.
• Registered or eligible to register as a Class III Process Controller

Primary Duties

• Monitor and control filter plant performance by compliance to water quality standards after filtration. Operate filters within operational procedures. Monitoring of the filtration process via SCADA system ensuring compliance. Back washing of filters manually as well as via SCADA system to ensure capacity and quality.
• Sterilizing filters by taking filters out of commission for repairs, and maintenance in accordance with Rand Water procedures.
• Operating chlorine plants (evaporators, chlorinators, injectors, compressors etc.) to ensure disinfection of potable water to prescribed standards.
• Monitor chlorine plants to ensure compliance to operational and safety requirements.
• Loading and offloading of chlorine cylinders to ensure sufficient stock on site.
• Operation of pumps by stopping and starting main pumps on request.
• Reporting of unsafe conditions which may result in injury or harm to Rand Water employees.
• Report all chemical spills to Water Purification Supervisor.
