Job Purpose
- Perform supervision duties, control, assign and delegate scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks allocated to him and his/her team ensuring maximum productivity and efficiency within the prescribed standards and regulations in the Line Station environment to meet the demands of the customer’s schedule and satisfaction.
Principal Accountabilities
- Effectively co-ordinate his team and section’s workload to meet targets and objectives set.
- Perform inspections, duplicate inspections, testing, trouble shooting and certify tasks completed by him or uncertified team staff.
- Ensure all work performed by his team and himself is compliant with all Manufactures and Regulatory Authority Requirements.
- Supervise sub-ordinates
- Maintain discipline.
- Develop, motivate and appraise staff.
- Evaluate and recommend staff courses.
- Resolve HR queries.
- Accountable for team culture to meet targets.
- Monitor crew strength and certifications required in conjunction with Manager.
- Monitor crew leave / relief requirements in conjunction with Manager.
- Ensure correct usage of tools and equipment and a safe working environment for staff, engines, aircraft and equipment.
- Co-ordinate aircraft movements and activities of all trades to ensure timeous maintenance completion.
- Ensure timeous completion of all required reports for SAA and customers.
- Attend daily progress meetings and provide Manager with workload updates and aircraft status.
- Report aircraft status to Manager and MCC as and when required.
- Ensure mandatory tool checks and staff logbooks are kept current as per WM.
- Retrieve aircraft manual information and authorize requisitions for spares.
- Ensure that tools and equipment is returned to stores and work area cleaned on completion of shift.
- Provide guidance and on-job training to all team members.
- Report Aircraft status to TOC regularly
Qualifications & Experience
- Must be a qualified in the applicable Trade and have at least 5 years maintenance experience (excluding training period as an Apprentice).
- Must have current full shop certification (Type II) on current aircraft maintained by SAAT.
- Code B driver’s license and meet the requirements to obtain an Airports Company of SA (ACSA) airside permit for domestic airports and restricted areas.
- Procedural, Regulatory Authority and documentation courses.
Knowledge and Skills
- In-depth knowledge of SAAT QMP and Regulatory Authorities Rules and Regulations (e.g. FAA, JAA and CAA).
- SHE courses (NOSA, firefighting, first aid, etc.)
- Training and operation of specialized test equipment and tooling.
- Must be computer literate – MS Office, AMOS and SAP/R3
- Leadership
- Good communication skills (verbal and written).
- Planning and organising skills.

Job Purpose
- The CFO is tasked with providing executive financial leadership and governance to South African Airways Technical (SAAT). This includes developing, implementing, and overseeing a sustainable financial strategy designed to support long-term organizational viability, drive operational excellence, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver value to the shareholder. The role operates within a complex, asset-intensive Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) environment.
Principal Accountabilities
To provide strategic financial leadership and oversight in support of SAAT’s corporate and technical strategy:
- Develop, implement and continuously refine SAAT’s integrated financial strategy, operating model and financial governance framework, aligned to the SAA Group strategy and shareholder expectations
- Act as a strategic business partner to the CEO and Executive Committee, providing forward-looking financial insights to support strategic and operational decision-making
- Serve as an ex-officio member of the SAAT Board, contributing to strategic oversight, risk governance and financial stewardship
To ensure financial sustainability, liquidity management and capital optimisation across the organisation:
- Lead enterprise-wide financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial modelling to support business growth and sustainability
- Oversee cash flow management, treasury operations, funding strategies and capital allocation to ensure liquidity and financial resilience
- Evaluate and approve capital investment proposals, business cases and return-on-investment assessments for major MRO programmes and infrastructure initiatives
To drive financial performance, cost discipline and value creation within a high-cost MRO operating environment:
- Establish and enforce robust cost management, cost recovery and pricing governance frameworks aligned to MRO operational realities
- Monitor and improve financial performance indicators, including revenue, EBITDA, margin performance and asset utilisation
- Identify and address emerging financial risks and performance gaps through proactive intervention and corrective action
To ensure sound financial governance, compliance and assurance in line with legislative and regulatory requirements:
- Ensure full compliance with PFMA, King IV, IFRS, GAAP, Treasury Regulations and other applicable legislation
- Oversee internal and external audit processes and drive the reduction of audit findings and control deficiencies
- Strengthen internal control environments, financial policies and reporting disciplines across the organisation
To provide leadership and oversight of the Finance function in order to ensure it is fit-for-purpose and future-ready:

- Initiate appropriate Labour Relation action within the department and chair hearings where necessary

Qualifications & Experience
- Registration as a Chartered Accountant – CA(SA) SAICA is essential
- Postgraduate qualification in Finance, Accounting or a related field
- A minimum of 12 years’ senior financial leadership experience, gained within complex, regulated and asset-intensive environments, which may have been gained simultaneously
- At least 5 years experience at Executive or ExCo level, with demonstrated accountability for:
- Enterprise-wide financial strategy
- Large-scale CAPEX and OPEX management
- Liquidity, treasury and funding oversight
- Board and shareholder engagement
- Demonstrated experience in Aviation, MRO, engineering, logistics or manufacturing sector exposure will be a strong advantage
