POSITION SYNOPSIS:

Oversee the detailed design and sequencing of activities to be performed by the operations function, aimed at facilitating the execution of the 2 Year Budget in the 3-12 month window.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Serious contenders will have a Degree / BTECH Mining Engineering and a minimum of 8 years’ experience in Business Planning on Operations with broad knowledge of relevant mining methods and experience in opencast Rock Engineering, of which 3 years must have been in a managerial capacity;
• Production experience will be essential with a sound understanding of logistics and infrastructure design;
• Sound understanding of water and land management is essential;
• Planning software knowledge is essential;
• Detailed knowledge of CAP;
• Experience in the coal mining industry is essential.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Facilitate the 2 year budgeting process across all operations functions;
• Compile 2 year budget for the Operation;
• Oversee the detailed engineering designs required to execute the short term schedule such as to achieve budgeted outcomes;
• Facilitate the sequencing of activities and planning of logistical issues;
• Facilitate the agreement of actionable plans;
• Identification and actioning short term opportunities and risk;
• Reporting operational performance achieved and compliance to detailed plan;
• Forecasting operational performance quarterly on a 24 month rolling window;
• Accountable for the operations survey activities;
• Accountable for the operations geological activities;
• Ensure governance and systems are in place with regards to production accounting.

Job description

POSITION SYNOPSIS:

Responsible for ensuring that the coal mined is in accordance with agreed standards. Conducts mining visits to ensure that the coal available and delivered to stockpiles and plants is in accordance with agreed blocks and qualities.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Serious contenders will have a Degree / BTECH/National Diploma/Diploma Geology with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Mine Planning and Production Planning;
• Mine Planning software experience and knowledge, preferably in Deswik is essential;
• A valid driver’s license is essential;
• Computer Literacy in MS Office Suite is essential;
• Experience in the coal mining industry preferably both in Opencast and Underground mining is advantageous;
• Registered to professional association will be advantageous.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Plan and audit that the coal coming from the mines to the plants is in accordance with agreed plans;
• Liaise with mining to jointly make decisions on what to do when coal quantity and quality deviates from expected or agreed plans;
• Coordinate with operational and services departments to ensure that the planning input is of the desired standard;
• Coordinate with a wide range of key stakeholders in the plants, mines, and Business Planning, in order to achieve coal mining compliance and tracking objectives.
