    Associate Professor in Information Systems

    • The Department of Information Systems takes pride in developing highly qualified professionals and researchers in Information Systems and related fields. Given the strategic thrust of UWC, the Department is currently experiencing growth and is thus inviting appropriately qualified and experienced persons to join its ranks. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and supportive Department and Faculty that is dedicated to teaching, research and community engagement, as well as to the overall student experience. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and willing to make a significant contribution to the Department’s academic programmes and its research agenda.

    The successful candidate for Associate Professor in the Department of Information Systems will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

    • Facilitate learning and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Information Systems programmes
    • Conduct research and publish in mutually agreed upon Information Systems-related foci
    • Undertake undergraduate and postgraduate supervision
    • Provide academic leadership and administration

    Associate Professor

    • The Department of Mercantile and Labour Law is responsible for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, supervision, research, and community engagement in the fields of Mercantile Law (Corporate Law, Fintech Law and Regulation, Competition Law, International Trade and Investment Law, Tax Law) as well as Labour Law.     Lecturer

    The Department of Private Law is responsible for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, supervision, research, and community engagement in the fields of private law (the law of persons, property law, the law of contract and family law) as well as legal pluralism.     Senior Lecturer-School of Pharmacy

    • The School of Pharmacy at the University of the Western Cape has a strong focus on patient and service orientated education, building on a sound scientific base and active research.     Librarian: Research Support (Re-Advertisement)

    • The primary role of the Librarian: Research Support & Impact is to plan and conduct institutional and faculty postgraduate and researcher training programmes. Lead services geared towards research impact analysis. To manage the research commons and postgraduate facility and research resources in the library as well as the co-ordination virtual reference services.

    Specialist: Research Contracts (Technology Transfer Office) - (2064)

    • Reporting to the Director of the TTO, the Specialist: Research Contracts is responsible for managing all research-related contracts at UWC: managing the process of review of research-related contracts, ensuring that legal and financial risks related to research contracts are sufficiently mitigated and managed, ensuring research contracts are aligned with the diverse research-related policies and funder requirements, developing and implementing appropriate processes, guidelines, and policies to ensure compliance.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following key areas:

    • Managing the research contract portfolio and administration process related to research-related contracts.
    • Responsible for liaising, advising and assisting UWC support units, senior management, researchers, faculty management and research partners in the management of research contracts.
    • Identifying and managing contractual issues such as compliance, conflict-of-interest, financial & reporting requirements.
    • Ensuring contract budgets are in line with budget and costing policies and legislation.
    • Negotiating and concluding research-related contracts and finalising of complex sponsored research agreements.
    • Managing the Due Diligence process requested by external partners/funders on research-related contracts.
    • Drafting of opinions and accompanying advice regarding changes in policies, legislation and regulations that may influence the terms and conditions of contracts, in the national and international research and innovation arena.
    • Providing expert input and making recommendations on processes, guidelines and policies for research contract management.
    • Managing the research-related contract compliance matters that need to implemented/addressed.

    • An exciting opportunity exists in the eResearch Unit for a suitably qualified candidate to the position of Specialist: eResearch Systems Administration.     • A minimum of 5 years of experience in systems administration with a proven track record managing Linux- and Windows-based servers, storage systems, and enterprise IT environments. 
    • Practical experience with technologies such as SLURM, OpenStack, AWS, or Azure for research computing.
    • Practical experience with RDM platforms such as iRODS, YoDa, or equivalent, and familiarity with research data capture tools like REDCap. A strong understanding of FAIR data principles is essential.

    Added Advantage:   

    • A Master’s degree (NQF 9 level) in statistics, mathematics, computer science or other quantitative fields.
