    Fix Term Developer

     

    Job Description

    • This is a Fixed Term Contract appointment until the end of the year (2021).
    • Experience in Drop Raise Mining Method and S3 Longhole Drill Riggs is required.

    The focus for this role will be to:

    • Follow-up on whether the face is clean and collect all required keys for explosives, boxes, centralized blasting NSS box etc., and order explosives when necessary.
    • Collect Lamp, GDI (Gas detecting instrument) and proceed underground and check material / cars and services.
    • Check PPE / injuries of workers, collect clock cards and mark gang make up, conduct meeting (Safety / production / briefs / labour / leave), confirm daily tasks / plan (ensure material / equipment available) and check material in store, notice board up to date, all explosive boxes locked/clean, First Aid Box and ventilation as per standard procedure, velocity/ W/B,D/B). Test for gasses and do Fire Drill (monthly) at Refuge Bay.
    • Temporary & Permanent Support - Check spacing/distance from face, 90° installation to H/W, Installation on solid F/W, release handle installation as per Mine standards, releasing tool available on last Camlok and Camlok condition(locking pin/headboard/footplate and check support line (elongate/roof bolts), spacing (dip/strike) of elongates and roof bolts, correct installation angle (90° to H/W), correct length cut of elongates, nozzle of jackpot facing back area and Installed on solid/clean F/W.
    • Marking off - Shot holes to be marked off by holder of valid blasting certificate only, Holes to be marked at correct burden(50cm), direction lines (90° to face), all paint lines (highway lines/ref, lines/perimeter, lines/support/roof bolt/3m line), rig holes (top/bottom) and Shot holes not close than 150mm from sockets and ensure safety nets are the correct size, any check damage, correctly tightened, overlapping (30cm), installed full width of ASG/panel and proper C/S(hooks to hook the safety net) hooks (camlok jacks/roof bolts).
    • Drilling - Test for gasses prior to drilling. Check drilling on mark/direction, drilling on correct dip (not damaging H/W or F/W), drilling full length of jumper, continuously barring during drilling and water pump working during drilling. No drilling if nets not installed.
    • Charging up - De-sludge all shot holes properly (19mm aluminum blow pipe), quality barring prior to charging up, test for gasses, correct equipment (Anfo loader with 2 x valves/19mm aluminum pipe ) and quantity of explosives (1 (one) x load ). Insert fuses in holes (leave gap in front end of hole).
    • Timing/Blasting - Connect fuses in correct sequence as per Mine Standards, test slave station, test blasting wires, connect blasting wires to Safe Start, lock away all excessive explosives not used and ensure all workers out of place of work. Ensure all barricades to panel/end closed as per Mine Standards.
    • Measuring (during shift) - Face advance daily (top + bottom + ASG). Plot advance daily on plan and measure sweepings from face, all support from face, all other services daily (A+W/pillar/ventilation controls/mono winch/face winch) and Best cut (daily).

    This role is in the Mining department at a C2 level reporting to the Shift Supervisor Mining.

    Qualifications

    You will be required to have:

    • Grade 7 or ABET 3 numeracy or literacy.
    • Blasting certificate / Rock Breaking Certificate is required.
    • Developer specific training modules will be advantageous.
    • Developer equipment maintenance modules will be advantageous.

    Knowledge, skills and experience required:

    • 3 years relevant experience as a Develper or equivalent.
    • Experience in Drop Raise Mining Method and S3 Longhole Drill Riggs is required.
    • Knowledge of the following Legal Requirements will be advantageous: MHSA Chapter 14 (Protection in workings), Minerals Act Chapter 8 (Responsibility in workings), MHSA Chapter 9 (Occupational Hygiene), MHSA Chapter 22 (Schedules) and MHSA Chapter 23 (Reporting of accidents).

    Safety Analytics Advisor

    Job Description

    You will take on a range of different tasks within the SHE Department which will include the following:

    • Advise and coach operations to enhance understanding of safety metrics.
    • Advise operational leaders on the appropriate use of measures, metrics and analytical tools to enhance incident investigation and incident management.
    • Provide input in the operational safety KPI analytics systems and processes.
    • Analyze data (KPIs) and monitor performance regarding risk management.
    • Monitor KPI's of contractor safety performance and report deviations from pre-defined norms
    • Collect accurate performance data and promote the value of effective reporting and data management systems.
    • Monitor all safety related KPIs (e.g. regarding incidents, LFI, Verification) to measure safety risk, trends and effectiveness of controls for the site and report to the site management team.
    • Monitor Safety performance and compile and report to the site management team.
    • Conduct ad-hoc specialist safety reporting as required.
    • Provide guidance in the implementation, integrating and use of safety systems/tools.
    • Advice on the use of operational safety analytics to create awareness and the benefit.
    • Investigate and analyze operational safety trends to gain insights.
    • Provide specialist safety reports and highlight trending safety behaviors/ patterns for immediate intervention.
    • Assess trend analyses on control effectiveness across sites/equipment/activities and pro-actively suggest mitigations
    • Review selection of SLAMs and provide input on quality.
    • Provide input on how compliance and assurance results should be analyzed.

    This role is in the SHE Department at a Band 6 Level reporting into SHE Manager

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors / Honours degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline such as science, engineering, or other related disciplines
    • Formal qualification in Safety

    To Be Successful, You Will Have The Following Experience

    • Practical safety experience of at least 3 to 5 years
    • Detailed understanding of the Platinum value chain and Safety, Health and Environment trends and risks.
    • Demonstrated experience in a safety position within a technical environment, including the coordination of knowledge sharing with broader stakeholders.
    • Demonstrated experience working in a safety investigation position at a project, operation or BU level in mining or Oil and Gas Industry.
    • Track record of interfacing with and influencing colleagues at all levels and coordinating disciplines relevant to safety.
    • An understanding of the operational aspects associated with mining operations.

    • Advanced reporting skills.
    • Communication and Interpersonal skills.
