    Mechatronic Engineer - Alberton

    Job Description

    • There is an immediate vacancy for Mechatronic Engineer, based at our Fermel Alberton Branch.

    Requirements:

    • Tech / B.Sc / B.Eng degree in mechatronic or electronic engineering recognised by ECSA.
    • Experience in control system software development
    • Experience in HMI development
    • Experience with digital control systems
    • Experience with different control system communication protocols
    • Understanding of hydraulic control circuits
    • Understanding of auto electric control circuits
    • Ability to work without direct supervision
    • Own transport

    Beneficial experience:

    • Experience in vehicle software development
    • Experience with VSD / motor control
    • Experience with electrical vehicles
    • Understanding of trackless drivetrains
    • Experience with IOT
    • Experience with autonomous systems
    • Experience within a trackless mining environment
    • Experience within a manufacturing environment
    • Project management capabilities

    Draughtsman

    Job Description

    • The Draughtsman will be responsible for creating detailed 3D models and technical manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks to support the engineering and production teams. The role focuses on the design and detailing of components and assemblies used in underground mechanized mining equipment.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks in compliance with company standards.
    • Prepare detailed fabrication, assembly, and layout drawings from engineering concepts, sketches, and prototypes.
    • Assist with design modifications, revisions, and updates based on engineering feedback and production requirements.
    • Perform tolerance analysis and ensure drawings meet ISO/GD&T standards.
    • Collaborate closely with engineers, production teams, and quality control to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability.
    • Maintain accurate drawing registers and version control of all design documents.
    • Support R&D and new product development projects by creating concept designs and updating design files.
    • Conduct BOM (Bill of Materials) creation and updates aligned with ERP systems.
    • Assist in preparing documentation for client submissions, including technical files and assembly manuals.
    • Ensure all designs comply with relevant mining equipment safety standards and regulatory requirements.

    Job Requirements:

    • National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
    • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Draughtsman, preferably in heavy engineering or mining equipment.
    • Proficiency in SolidWorks (Part Modelling, Assemblies, Drawings, Sheet Metal, Weldments, and Simulation).
    • Experience in creating fabrication and machining drawings to tight tolerances.
    • Familiarity with design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles.
