    Logistics Senior Manager-Rosebank

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

    To develop and motivate the strategy for McCain route to market for delivery and service offering with the ultimate aim of optimising service level and cost to service while delighting the customer.

    To lead the activities both internal and external for the third parties providing distribution services to McCain and develop teams fit for the future. Responsible for the McCain internal customer service function for order taking and delivery management for McCain direct customers. Responsible for managing customer relationships with the McCain Foods outbound supply chains as well as managing the SLA’s with service providers to McCain in respect of storage, distribution and transport of finished goods and any other services provided by the logistics.

    Also responsible for reporting relating to the Logistics Service Providers.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

    Logistics Strategy Formulation and Implementation

    • Formulate short and long term (+3 year) Logistics Strategies to deliver sustainable, profitable service by Logistics service provider.
    • Prioritise services and initiatives by service within the Logistics on the basis of demand
    • Determine the tone and direction the Logistics team takes in its approach to working with the Logistics and relevant stakeholders.
    • Work collaboratively with cross functional teams and ensure alignment with supply chain initiatives and operational efficiencies
    • Drive the achievement of targeted commercial strategy

    Strategic Account Management

    • Ensure that all accounts are serviced in order for the company to achieve required service levels.
    • Leverage current alliances and customer relationships to identify further opportunities for optimisation
    • Support the Commercial Manager in the development of proposals, negotiate terms and conditions, and implement contractual agreements for expanded offerings within an account with focus on delivering results
    • Facilitate the communication of a customer perspective within multi-disciplinary forums to ensure that customer expectations are met within the ambit of smooth, efficient and profitable operations and service delivery.

    Logistics Planning and Execution

    • Lead the Logistics management planning process to create supplier-specific priorities and plans.
    • Lead Logistics performance reviews
    • Lead the customer service delivery for McCain direct customers to ensure optimal Cash to Cash cycle and enhancing the customer experience with McCain.
    • Understand key drivers of profit and loss and actively support achievement of financial targets including driving profitable service options at the Logistics or supplier level, maximising profitability and identifying business opportunities.
    • Identify business risks to achieving the sales targets
    • Estimate ROI for the key Logistics initiatives and evaluate plans post-execution.
    • Ensure that all Chep pallet movement is documented and controlled

    Staff Management and Development

    • Lead the team towards meeting the strategy and targets through regular communication and utilisation of the full organisational talent management tool set.
    • Monitor staff performance and provide regular feedback.
    • Manage staff activities, ensuring service levels are met and protocols are adhered to.
    • Coach and support staff where necessary to achieve objectives.
    • Manage staff leave and general time management issues in line with organisational deliverables and standards.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Graduate qualifications within supply chain and logistics
    • Post graduate qualification in business would be an advantage
    • Valid Code EB drivers’ licence
    • Must have at least 5 years’ experience as senior manager in logistics and supply chain.

    Laboratory Technician

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

    The successful incumbent undertakes routine and non-routine analyses of finished products and intermediates using standard test methods to verify quality conformance to specification as well as microbial food safety hazards are absent in the product and production areas at different stages of the manufacturing process. This is a skilled Laboratory Technical position that also includes data capturing and admin functions.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

    Collecting and analytical analysis of microbiological samples;

    • Collecting all product samples for microbiological analysis.
    • Collecting and analyzing Hand Swabs, ATP swabs, Hygiene Swabs and daily.
    • Environmental swabs as per schedule.
    • Collecting of water samples for analysis of Total Plate Count, E.coli & Coliforms as per schedule.
    • Marking and Storage of samples for Retention Sample Program.
    • Logging samples in and out for Retention Sample Program.

    Data capturing and Reporting;

    • Reporting of non-conforming products or situations as soon as results become available
    • Entering of all Microbiological results into SAP system timeously
    • Releasing of conforming products and restricting (Blocking) of non-conforming products.
    • Drawing of reports off the SAP system as required.
    • Entering observations of GMP inspections into action lists.

    GMP, housekeeping, pre-start-up and cleaning Inspections;

    • Cleaning Observation pre- and post-shift, as and when required.
    • Recording of non-conforming situations or findings, i.e. pictures.
    • Assist Production, Packing, Engineering and Cleaning with pre-start-up inspections according to schedule.
    • Stop lines or prevent lines from starting up if GMP, hygiene standards have not been met.
    • Reporting of non-conformances.

    Sample preparation for cuttings and product evaluations;

    • Collecting of all samples for product cuttings, competitor cuttings and/or reference sample evaluations.
    • Marking and storage of all samples and storage area.
    • Sample presentation and cook-up, sample identification for all product cuttings (daily and as required per schedule).
    • Providing of score sheets, water, equipment and stationary for all cuttings.
    • Preparation for daily product reviews

    Administrative functions;

    • Recording and reporting on cutting and reference sample evaluations.
    • Ensuring the availability of all microbiological materials, within budget constraints.
    • Creating of shopping carts for all QC Department purchases, ensuring that all consumables are available at all times.
    • Logging and graphing of daily foreign material plant Incidents.
    • Assist with mock recalls and traceability exercises.

    EDUCATIONAL & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    • Grade 12 or Equivalent
    • Diploma or certificate in Food Science, Microbiology, Food Technology
    • 2 years in Quality Control or Quality Assurance Laboratory in the food industry
    • Knowledge and or experience of FSSC 22000 will be advantageous.
    • Basic laboratory skills, food preparation skills, and excellent housekeeping skills
    • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks
    • Ability to perform moderate physical work over prolonged periods while standing
    • GMP & HACCP experience will be advantageous
    • Computer Literacy

    LEGAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Basic knowledge of regulatory requirements (LRA, BCEA, OHS Act)
