    Pharmacist - Century City

    The duties and responsibilities of the Pharmacist will include, but not limited to:

    • The Pharmacist will support all NACOSA’s clinical related work, with specific deliverables related to the People Who Use Drugs Programme (PWUD), AYP (Adolescent Young People), SIB (Social Impact Bond).
    • Review and update clinical process and documents in line with SANC and Pharmacy Council Guidelines
    • Review our PSM (Procurement and Supply Management) plan to update and scrutinize whether all the Pharmacy guidelines are covered to ensure compliance.
    • Assist with the process of reviewing and update Pharmaceutical and clinical-related standard operating procedures.
    • Assist to review the current Health Product list and recommend updates or changes to ensure that the health care needs are effectively addressed.
    • Work with various sub-recipient organisations to support the implementation of their Prep Plan and advise on processes to ensure the necessary licenses are in place so that the plan can be executed while remaining compliant to legislation.
    • Assist to review and update training material on pharmaceutical related matters.
    • Guide and support the process to ensure dispensing licenses are in place at sub-recipient level where needed.
    • Perform a general review of the level of compliance with pharmaceutical regulations across sub-recipients and provide recommendations to ensure compliance.
    • Provide mentoring and support to NACOSA.
    • Ensure quality assurance as per Global Fund requirements.
    • Specific Deliverables related to the People who use drugs (PWUD) programme.
    • Design a NACOSA Standard operating procedure to support Clinical staff based at sub-recipient level regarding OST (Opioid Substitution Therapy)
    • Advise on the best practice methods to implement Methadone destruction policy.
    • Support the sub-recipient staff on general queries and support as may be needed from time to time.
    • Design training materials to focus on the specific challenges related to the PWID Programme.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    We are looking for an experienced Pharmacist with a successful track record, that meets the following criteria.

    • Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) M. Pharm (master's in pharmacy)?
    • Current Registration with Pharmacy Council.
    • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar NGO, clinical programmes, or clinical health care setting
    • A thorough working understanding HIV/AIDS/TB/STI and COVID-19
    • Excellent project management skills
    • Experience acting in a specialist as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
    • Experience in Capacity Building and Training related to pharmaceutical matters.
    • Provide technical guidance to implementers and programme/clinical staff.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Proficiency in one or more South African languages besides English a distinct advantage.
    • Understanding of the NGO sector and knowledge of big donor processes/requirements will be a benefit.
    • South African national or permanent residence is preferred. 
    • Valid driver’s license.
    • Willingness to travel regularly in South-Africa (travel cost to be covered)

    Finance Clerk - Century City

    The key performance areas of the role are:

    Accounting and verification

    • Maintain monthly reporting status of sub-grantees and send timely reminders to ensure adherence to reporting schedules.
    • Receive Sub-grantee reports and supporting documents, check for completeness:
    • Review report to ensure all required sheets and fields are completed.
    • Review supporting documents (e.g. invoices, pay slips, timesheets, bank statements) submitted by sub-grantees to ensure that all expense claims have supporting documents.
    • Support finance officer and test a sample of Sub-grantee HR and non-HR expenditure for accuracy and validity in line with donor policies and procedures.
    • Where expenses are not supported, query with the Sub-grantee and disallow where necessary.
    • Maintain filing of financial reports, supporting documents and other grant compliance documentation.
    • Ensure receipt of latest audited financial statements of sub-grantees.

    Bank / cash verification

    • Assist with preparing monthly bank reconciliations and reconcile sub-grantees’ unliquidated advance balance vs actual bank account.
    • Assist in ensuring the difference between actual and unliquidated advance balances is reconciled and kept to a minimum.
    • Prepare and submit sub-grantee disbursement / payment pack timeously within set monthly deadlines including verified finance report.

    Budget Management

    • Review sub-grantee monthly budget vs spend and flag excessive over / underspend to finance officer.
    • Review expenses to ensure coded to correct budget lines.

    Mentoring Sub-grantees

    • Support finance officer in conducting regular site visits and completing site visit reports.
    • Assist with compliance and other monitoring visits such as asset verifications, stock counts and audits.

    Quarterly, bi-annual, annual tasks

    • Support finance officer in donor reporting
    • Assist with annual audit preparation.
    • Other ad hoc duties as assigned from time to time.

    Required qualifications, skills and experience.

    • Bachelor’s degree in finance or Auditing
    • Basic understanding of bookkeeping and accounting processes and procedures
    • Working experience in finance and/or auditing and within a non-profit organisation would be advantageous.
    • Attention to detail, concern for order, quality, and accuracy.
    • Demonstrate the ability to take initiative.
    • Good team player and able to work well under pressure.
    • Good command of written and spoken English and any local language
    • Ability to use MS Office: Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
    • Willingness to travel, (regular domestic travel)
