    South Africa Tech Manager

    About the Role

    • This position reports to the Director of Operations and Technology. You will be responsible for supporting the South African Schools and other functional teams at the school in the planning, development, and implementation of all technology-related projects related to educational systems, sports activities, and school-based events.

    Your Responsibilities Include:

    • Collaborate with the Global Director of Operations & Technology to manage the design, roll-out, and ongoing maintenance of technology systems and procedures for Nova Pioneer South Africa schools. This includes resolving any technical challenges that may arise.
    • Oversee the design, implementation and maintenance of the school's technology systems and infrastructure, with a focus on our core network systems (internet, printing and firewalls) to ensure that the overall hardware and related equipment in these systems, work efficiently across all schools as intended and designed.
    • Manage and oversee the relationship with vendors and contractors providing outsourced IT services, ensuring timely delivery of services, quality standards and compliance with contracts, timely billing and payments, and proactively identifying potential issues or risks.
    • Identify needs and opportunities for improvement and development of key systems by working with school leadership teams to develop and execute effective solutions, including training and support for tech associates and coordinators in South Africa.
    • Manage and lead the IT helpdesk team to ensure efficient and effective resolution of technical issues and provision of timely support to end-users.
    • Ensure that support across all of our core systems is dynamic and effective by standardizing processes and ensuring timely delivery and resolution of issues.
    • Manage and supervise the IT team, including hiring, training, goal setting and evaluating teammates.
    • Manage and oversee the Google Workspace administration, including the timely onboarding and offboarding of users, ensuring smooth and efficient access to the platform for all employees while proactively investigating and resolving any security threats. 
    • Develop and implement IT policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

    About You

    Skills and Qualifications required:

    • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
    • 5+ years of work experience in fast-paced, growth-oriented organizations with the ability to work in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment. Experiencing working in a company both globally and cross-functionally is an added advantage. (Experience in the education industry is an added advantage)
    • Strong leadership skills and experience managing teams, including knowledge of IT systems and technologies, such as hardware, software, and networking.

    Admissions Associate (Dual Campus)

    ABOUT THE ROLE:

    • The Admissions Associate will be responsible for generating and processing leads and applications across two new campuses, ultimately responsible for delivering against our ambitious enrolment targets.
    • This person will manage feeder schools relationships, cold calls, set up and run activations, open days and other events. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, highly organized, and able to work effectively across both locations. This role can be described as more of a ‘hunting role’ because rather than managing an existing pipeline, you will be required to generate a pipeline as well as close those enrollments.

    Key responsibilities for the role include:

    Given the life stage of the campuses, this person will have a big focus for the first year (or two) on generating their own leads and application pipeline, with the support of the Marketing team.

    • Develop and manage feeder schools relationships 
    • Work with the Marketing and School teams on creating programmes for generating referrals from the current Nova Pioneer community, as well as the community at large.
    • Conduct cold calling and activations to generate interest for both campuses
    • Report application numbers and progress to the managers of the two campuses, as well as the two school leaders
    • Manage open days and other admissions events across both campuses, with the support of the broader admissions team
    • Ensure a high level of customer service throughout the admissions process
    • Given that Nova Pioneer Boksburg High School is opening in 2024, you will be responsible for supporting the launch plans of the campus alongside other stakeholders eg Marketing team, Boksburg Head of school
    • Internal marketing to current Grade 6 and 7 families to ensure the highest possible student retention into Grade 8 
    • Work with the Marketing team to create marketing plans for the new schools

    In Partnership with:

    • School leaders, school-based operations, admins and teaching teammates at both campuses
    • Admissions managers for each campus 
    • Admissions teammates who handle admissions for Boksburg Primary and Paulshof Primary (the primary schools that feed into your high schools)
    • Marketing’s teammates who support us with events, marketing material and application generation

    About You

    Skills and Qualifications required:

    • This person should be excellent at sales, cold calling, as well as selling the Nova Pioneer vision to prospective parents
    • It is essential that this person become a Nova Pioneer subject matter expert quickly, particularly on our high school offering. 
    • The successful candidate should have a growth mindset and be able to internalize large amounts of information and master it quickly.
    • This teammate should not only be skilled at project management but also great at following through on tasks

    • Note: The Admissions Associate will focus on generating applications and moving those applications through the funnel to enroll, working with families and feeder schools, and supporting both campus locations.

    Admissions Associate (Ormonde)

    ABOUT THE ROLE:

    Admissions: 

    • You will be responsible for providing a compelling experience for prospective parents, through various methods (events, emailers, calls etc.), that leads to these parents ultimately enrolling at our schools.
    • You will be responsible for performing school tours and assessments with prospective families, in partnership with your school team
    • You will be required to drive both offline and online application generation activities. Online applications come from our digital channels like Facebook, whilst offline applications come from other traditional marketing channels. As such, you may be required, at times, to attend events (such as expos, community events) in order to engage with prospective parents.
    • You will be responsible for meeting the #HighExpectations weekly, monthly, and annual admissions targets set to help grow our schools. This entails facilitating and tracking the high volume of applications from prospective families through the admissions funnel from applied to enrolled stage. 
    • This role is primarily based at Nova Pioneer Ormonde, with an expectation to collocate at one of other of the Nova Pioneer campuses (at least) once a week.
    • Communications: You will be responsible for any written, verbal (phone, in person), and electronic (email, SMS) communications to prospective parents of Nova Pioneer students, this includes copy editing, proofreading, and revising communications across a variety of channels, and escalating it up the chain where necessary or prudent. Your communication is expected to be well composed, compelling and timely, within the protocol set by your manager and the organisation.
    • Stakeholder engagement: As the face of your campus you will be required to not only engage with families as you take them through the application process, you will also be required to work closely with school teams, particularly the Head of School. You will also be required to build relationships with a targeted number of feeder school partners. 
    • Data and Reporting: We are a data-driven team, and data analysis and reporting comes into every aspect of the work we do. You will be responsible for linking business commercial needs with school requirements. You will need to update and maintain the various team dashboards and submit weekly reports in a timely manner.

    Events management: 

    • As an  Admissions Associate, you will be expected to organise and execute events, such as open days, that both creatively encourage increased engagement with prospective parents, as well as drive new student admissions. 
    • You will be required to work with the Marketing team

    • You have at least a Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, commerce, or any related field.
    • 3 years of experience building and managing important relationships in sales, marketing, communications, and/or business development positions.

    School Leader (Northriding Primary School)

    ABOUT THE ROLE

    • Nova Pioneer already has 15 schools on the continent - Nine in Johannesburg and six in Nairobi. Prior to assuming the School Leader position, you will go through core training to get you ready to lead in the Nova Pioneer way with support, participation, and leadership in the Emerging Leaders Program. The series of experiences will be customised based on your prior experience. These experiences include shadowing a current School Leader and gaining experience with coaching teachers using the Nova Pioneer system.

    Key responsibilities for the role include:

    ABOUT YOU

    • You have 5+years of experience in a rigorous, high-expectations school setting including instructional leadership roles (e.g., Dean of Instruction, Dean of Students, Deputy Head, teacher coach, etc.). More years of experience or experience as a Head of School is highly valued but not a prerequisite, having 5+ years in Senior School professional experience is a prerequisite.

    Educational Psychologist

    ABOUT THE ROLE

    • Nova Pioneer is looking for an Educational Psychologist to start in January 2023! As the Educational Psychologist, you will have the opportunity to help craft a vision and strategy for student wellness and academic counselling development in our schools. You will be required to travel to the different campuses in the Nova Pioneer South Africa network, however, your primary base will be at our Ormonde Campus.

    Your key responsibilities will be to:

    Counseling Services:

    • Provide short to medium-term individual therapeutic interventions to students from Grade R to 13 (caseload to be shared with 2 intern Psychologists)
    • Provide parent consultations, including intake and feedback sessions, to parents in the primary school who are referred to you
    • Keep accurate clinical records of all interventions provided to students
    • Be available to consult with teachers in classroom-based support of students who are been referred to you
    • Provide psychosocial support in times of crisis (students, family or school)
    • Provide preventative and health promoting and emotional learning opportunities to groups of students

    Team Management:

    • Manage all members of the Nova Pioneer South African psychosocial team, including coaching, mentorship, and performance reviews
    • Provide weekly 1:1 clinical supervision to 3 HPCSA-registered intern psychologists
    • Manage the hiring process for new psychosocial team members when the need arises
    • Manage the hiring process for intern psychologists on an annual basis
    • Provide regular opportunities for professional development of psychosocial team members, as well as opportunities for team and connection across campuses
    • Manage the psychosocial team budget, ensuring adequate assessment and play therapy equipment and clinical recording keeping stationery
    • Participate in professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills as team leader and professional 

    Organisational Leadership:

    • Model, live, and lead the Nova Pioneer Culture
    • Work closely with School Leaders and Deans of Students in identifying and monitoring students in need of psychosocial support 
    • Work closely with School Leaders and Deans of Students in promoting whole school wellness and in promoting mental health among teachers and students
    • Provide leadership and collaborate with other educators in the school-wide integration of best practices in counseling and guidance 
    • Implement appropriate and prevention-oriented group activities to meet student needs and school goals
    • Plug-into the life skills program as guided by the Director of Schools, Heads of Schools, and Deans
    • Assist teachers, parents/guardians, and other stakeholders in interpreting and understanding student wellness data
    • Provide workshops to teachers on topics of student wellness
    • Adhere to laws, policies, procedures, and ethical standards of the school counseling profession
    • Conduct a yearly audit to review the counseling needs and trends in the school, and the extent to which the program in the school is effective in its implementation, based on the data collected and analyzed 
    • Prepare the results of such analysis in a manner that makes it possible to share the information with different stakeholders: pupils, teachers, network, parents, and guardians 

    ABOUT YOU

    • You are an HPCSA-registered educational, counseling, or clinical psychologist 
    • You are passionate about students' welfare and want to help them tackle life's different challenges
    • You have 4+ years of experience in school-based counseling
    • You ideally have a Bachelor of Education Degree with a Master's in Educational Psychology
    • You have experience in school counseling children and young adults
