    Management Accountant

    Main Objectives

    • To provide cost and management accounting support to the Finance Division and the University to enable and enhance financial control and decision-making by management, through the development of budgets and forecasts, preparation and analysis of management accounts, costing activities and benchmarking, and engagement with stakeholders.

    The Requirements

    A relevant B. Degree or Diploma (NQF 7) in Accounting, Auditing, or Financial Management  PLUS approximately 6 years of experience in financial and management accounting, where such experience includes: -

    • Budget preparation and variance analysis, including reporting and investigations.
    • Developing product/service/departmental costs within a costing/cost accounting framework.
    • Applying financial and cost accounting principles in the development and control of costs.
    • Advanced computer literacy, especially in MS Excel, and experience with ERP systems.
    • At least 3 years of experience working with and maintaining the general ledger structure.
    • At least 3 years of Supervisory or Management of staff.
    • Experience in a Higher Education environment will be an advantage.

    Lecturer (nGAP) - (Grade L)

    Lecturer/Snr Lecturer/Ass Professor in the Dept of Political and International Studies (Contract)

    Job Description

    Readvertising : Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in the Department of Political and International Studies (Fixed-term contract approx. 4.5 years)

    • The Department of Political and International Studies invite suitably qualified candidates to join their team.
    • All academics are responsible for disseminating knowledge (teaching and learning), creating knowledge (research), and engaging in community engagement, recognising differences in executing these responsibilities within the various departments and faculties. 
    • Academics are also expected to assume administrative, management, and/or leadership duties at the departmental, faculty, and/or university levels.

    The Requirements

    Lecturer

    • A PhD in Political Studies or a closely related discipline. Candidates who provide evidence of their PhD thesis being under examination will be considered.
    • Some teaching and/or teaching facilitation experience is required. The incumbent should be acquainted with online/blended teaching, assessment, and marking, or be willing to acquire these skills immediately upon assuming the role.
    • The ability to teach in International Relations and its sub-fields, and to foreground Africa in teaching.
    • Supervisory experience with postgraduate students is required.
    • Some evidence and experience in conducting research. Evidence of accredited published outputs would be an advantage.

    Senior Lecturer

    • A PhD in Political Studies or a closely related discipline.
    • Teaching experience at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels is required.
    • Experience in teaching in International Relations and its sub-fields, and an ability to foreground Africa in teaching.
    • Relevant research supervision of at least a Master’s degree to completion is needed.
    • Emerging national profile in the discipline and a credible publication record in peer-reviewed publications.

    Associate Professor

    • A PhD in Political Studies or a closely related discipline.
    • Considerable teaching experience at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
    • Experience in teaching in International Relations and its sub-fields, and an ability to foreground Africa in teaching.
    • Relevant supervision of Master’s degrees to completion is required. Supervising PhD degrees to completion is an advantage.
    • National and emerging international profile in the discipline and substantial publication record in peer-reviewed publications.

    Readvertisement: Lecturer (nGap) Department of Computer Science

    Main Objectives

    • Tutoring, facilitation, or conference presentation experience required. No teaching experience is required, but teaching experience in a technical area of Computer Science, including programming, will be an advantage.

    • Emerging track record of research publication and/or conference presentations

    Lecturer (nGAP) in Clinical Pharmacy (Grade L)

    Main Objectives

    • All academics are responsible for disseminating knowledge (teaching and learning), creating knowledge (research) and community engagement, and recognising differences in executing these responsibilities within the various departments and Faculties.  Academics are also expected to assume administrative, management, and/or leadership duties at the departmental, faculty, and/or university levels and contribute to their profession.
    • In addition, a Professor and an Associate Professor are to provide academic leadership in teaching and learning, research, and community engagement, as well as to contribute towards the governance of the institution. This leadership contribution of the Professor should be evidenced at the departmental, faculty, and institutional levels.

    The Requirements

    LECTURER

    • At least a BPharm and a postgraduate degree in Clinical Pharmacy, Clinical Pharmacology or related discipline, with a minimum of a Master’s degree.
    • The successful applicant should be willing and driven to undertake research in Clinical Pharmacy and register for a PhD degree.
    • Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a pharmacist.
    • Tutoring, facilitation or conference presentation experience required. No teaching experience required.
    • Ability to teach in the following disciplinary areas: Clinical Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics, Clinical Pharmacy Practice and Experiential Training (Hospital/Primary Care Rotations/WBL), Pharmacotherapy and Clinical Research will be an advantage.

    Associate Professor (AP)/ Senior Lecturer (SL) Pharmacy Practice

    Main Objectives

    • Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a pharmacist.
    • Considerable experience teaching Pharmacy Practice and Clinical Pharmacy courses. Has facilitated case-based discussions and supervised clinical experiential training. In addition, has contributed to curriculum development by designing and reviewing new academic programmes aligned with SAPC.
    • Research supervision of Masters and preferably PhD candidates, to completion.
    • Track record of research publications and the ability to attract funding.
    • National and emerging international profile in the discipline.
    • Track record of administration, management, and/or leadership roles with a willingness to assume a leadership role in the faculty, if required.

    Senior Lecturer

    • At least a PhD in Pharmacy Practice, Clinical Pharmacy, PharmD or related qualification with at least 7-10 years of teaching experience or professional experience in a health or medicines-related field. Teaching experience will be advantageous.
    • Candidates with a Master's Degree in Pharmacy Practice or a related field, and significant progress toward a PhD, may be considered.
    • Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a pharmacist.
    • Teaching experience in Pharmacy Practice and Clinical Pharmacy courses will be an advantage. Has supervised clinical experiential training.
    • Research supervision or co-supervision.

    Readvertisment: Accounts Payable Administrator

    Main Objectives

    • The main purpose of this position is to ensure the smooth and efficient payment of creditors/vendors on time; ensure accuracy; adherence to statutory requirements, optimizing business processes, striving for operational efficiencies.
    • Further, to ensure identification and correction of discrepancies / errors, ensure accurate Creditor reconciliations in compliance with existing policies and procedures thereby not exposing the University to risk while preserving its’ reputation and ensuring the prompt settlement of Creditor/Vendor invoices.

    The Requirements

    Grade 12 or equivalent (preferably with accounting as a grade 12 subject) and approximately 3 years’ relevant experience where such experience includes: -

    • Previous experience in a pressurised computerised administrative / accounting environment where the number of accounts is more than 1000 creditor accounts with an annual value is in excess more than R550 million
    • Computer literate - using Excel at an intermediate level, internet, email and Microsoft Software applications
    • Previous administrative experience that required the individual to pay attention to detail
    • Must be able to perform reconciliations and worked with creditor accounts, processing of invoices and other financial data on creditors account. The individual is expected to be highly numerate and comfortable with financial information
    • Experience in Accounts Payable module on an Oracle ERP or similar system

    Readvertisement: Coordinator II: B.Ed. FP: Centre for Social Development

    Main Objectives

    • To coordinate and manage all functions for the delivery of the B.Ed. Foundation Phase (part-time, in-service) programs within the portfolio of CHE-accredited programs include planning, coordinating the programs and the staff team, facilitating, recording, gathering data on aspects of the programs, and writing and presenting detailed reports.

    • Experience writing reports
    • Experience setting exams and assessments, including the written evaluation thereof
    • Experience conducting site support visits as part of assessment
    • Experience within a computerised administrative environment
    • A research record
    • Strong track record of service delivery (e.g. attrition and throughput rates)
