Post-specific requirements for Lecturer:

• A master’s degree, NQF level 9, in Mathematics Education (e.g. M Ed, MPhil, MSc, MTech, Master’s degree either through coursework or research) (foreign qualifications to be evaluated by SAQA)
• Intention to register for a doctoral degree (draft proposal or application)
• Able to discuss teaching reflection and statement (all candidates)
• 1 year teaching experience (academics) OR 1-year relevant experience (non-academics)
• A research reflection and/or portfolio (academics and non-academics)
• 2 research output unitsӿ during the previous 5 years OR 1 research output unitӿ during the previous 3 years OR rated by NRF as a researcher (academics) (waived if master’s degree was obtained within the last two years)
• 0.5 research output units during the previous 5 years (non-academics) (waived if master’s degree was obtained within the last two years
• Participation in departmental, school, college, university committees, workplace committees or task teams and voluntary associations
• Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) in the language of specialisation.
• Good theoretical knowledge of the discipline

• Experience of teaching in an ODeL environment
• Participation in community engagement

Requirements:

• Applicable and relevant equivalent to NQF level 9 (MA in Linguistics Translation Studies/MA in Language Practice/MA in Languages/ MTech (Language Practice) OR NQF level 10 (e.g. Ph.D/DEd/DPhil/DTech) Specialization in Translation and Interpreting Studies/Language Practice and/or related disciplines.
• At least 3-years teaching or relevant experience in the language practice (Secondary/TVET College /University)

Duties:

• Complete and execute assessment task professionally
• Comply and adhere to all Unisa tuition, assessment and examination and plagiarism policies and guidelines
• Act in the ethical and professional manner dealing with all assessment tasks
• Execute duties as stipulated in contract and task agreement
• Marking of assessment tasks fairly and consistently
• Meet deadlines of allocated assessment task
• Attend markers meeting and submit marking reports timeously
• Maintain confidentiality of all assessment tasks
