    Security Engineer, Anti-DDoS

    DESCRIPTION

    • The AWS Shield Response and Threat Intelligence team is looking for a security engineer with deep expertise in application and network security who is passionate about research, advocacy, and protecting large-scale, production applications.
    • In this role, you will serve as an application and network security subject matter expert and work directly with AWS customers across industry verticals to protect applications against external threats. You will leverage your deep expertise and understanding of customer use cases to design and implement security policies that protect customers at-scale or address bespoke requirements. You will conduct both routine and reactive security research to improve customer understanding of threats, exposures, and vulnerabilities through external communication like blogs, whitepapers, and presentations. As the threat environment evolves, you will respond with rapid solutions and communication strategies that mitigate risk to customer applications and earn trust with stakeholders at all levels.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

    •  4+ years of experience in application and network security engineering.
    •  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or similar quantitative field, or related industry experience.
    •  Business level proficiency in the English language.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    •  Exceptional understanding of security vulnerabilities, attacker exploit techniques, and methods for remediation of such.
    •  Experience protecting large-scale applications using Web Application Firewalls (WAFs), network firewalls, and Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS).
    •  Experience designing, building or testing web and API-based architectures.
    •  Experience communicating technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
    •  Exceptional presentation and written English communication skills; high degree of comfort with technical and executive audiences.
    •  Experience scripting in common languages (e.g. Ruby, Python)

    Senior Systems Development Engineer

    DESCRIPTION

    • This position is inside the Cloud Manager Group, which owns the services responsible for creating, modifying, and terminating EC2 Instances. The Group is responsible for driving instances to their intended state, as well as the contract with instance resources such as EBS Volumes and AMIs. We're thus a pivotal team in EC2, and we're hiring!
    • If successful, you will be responsible for the development and operation of core EC2 control-plane infrastructure that launches hundreds of thousands of EC2 instances every day and manages millions of resources. As a Systems Development Engineer (SysDE) in this team you will have the particular focus on introducing and improving automation in order to drive up the resiliency and drive down the operational costs of the team's services. This will include identifying and resolving issues, as well as automating and improving repetitive processes. You will become intimate with the architecture of our systems and be responsible for diving deep into code, while developing solutions for our customers and services. You will operate in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment, solving challenging problems at massive scale.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

    •  Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent degree or experience
    •  5+ years experience in Systems Administration and DevOps
    •  5+ years of experience with Linux/Unix tools and architecture
    •  5+ years of experience building automated tools in Python, Java and/or Ruby

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    •  Expertise in managing MySQL DBs will be highly beneficial
