    Junior Data Scientist

    Key Responsibilities

    • Prepare and clean data for machine learning tasks (e.g. transformation, feature engineering).
    • Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) to guide model development.
    • Support the retraining and improvement of live models.
    • Participate in model validation and performance evaluations.
    • Monitor deployed models for performance issues or data drift.
    • Assist in maintaining and troubleshooting ML pipelines and deployments.
    • Help document data processes, models, and system workflows.

     What We’re Looking For

    Essential Qualifications & Skills:

    • Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or Actuarial Science.
    • A curious, analytical mindset with a passion for working with data.
    • Self-driven with strong initiative to learn and contribute meaningfully.

     Nice to Have (Advantageous):

    • Internship or project experience in the insurance or financial services sector.
    • Hands-on experience with ML or data analysis (academic or practical).
    • Familiarity with Python, R, SQL, Snowflake, or ML platforms.

    Business Analyst (Data Science and ML Focus)

    What You’ll Do:

    • Act as the key liaison between data science teams and various business units.
    • Gather, define, and document both technical and business requirements for ML initiatives.
    • Evaluate and report on the performance and impact of ML models on the business.
    • Communicate insights to non-technical stakeholders in a clear, compelling way.
    • Ensure that operational teams understand and make the most of ML outputs.
    • Design intuitive dashboards and reporting tools to track model KPIs and outcomes.

    Requirements

    What You Bring:

    Essential Qualifications & Skills:

    • Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or Actuarial Science.
    • Strong capability to interpret model outputs and distill them into actionable business strategies.
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
    • Solid understanding of data-driven decision-making.
    • Experience in requirements gathering for data or ML projects.
    • Ability to assess and articulate business value derived from ML solutions.

    Preferred (Not Mandatory):

    • Background in the insurance or financial services sector.
    • Hands-on experience working with analytics or data science teams.
    • Exposure to ML concepts and lifecycle.
    • Familiarity with BI tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Qlik Sense).
    • Technical exposure to Python, R, SQL, or cloud platforms like Snowflake

    BI Designer - George, Western Cape

    What You’ll Be Doing

    • Build and maintain user-friendly Qlik application interfaces.
    • Conduct and document data integrity checks across multiple models.
    • Collaborate with data developers to troubleshoot and resolve data issues.
    • Optimize dashboards and reports for performance, usability, and clarity.
    • Handle ad hoc reporting and data requests from business users.
    • Prioritize and manage incoming BI requests efficiently.
    • Translate business needs into clear BI specifications and design briefs.
    • Perform testing and validation of outputs for alignment with business expectations.
    • Work closely with internal departments to support ongoing BI initiatives.
    • Manage administrative tasks linked to BI project workflows.

    What You Bring to the Team

    Required:

    • Minimum 1 year experience with Qlik or similar BI tools (e.g. Qlik Sense, Power BI, Tableau).
    • Analytical mindset and problem-solving capabilities.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Meticulous attention to detail with a focus on data accuracy.
    • Excellent time management and ability to juggle multiple priorities.
    • Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
    • Enthusiastic about continuous improvement and innovation in BI practices.
