ROLE OVERVIEW AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• The Head of Operations plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the fund, enabling the investment team to focus on investment decisions and portfolio management and will be responsible for, inter alia,
• Fund Administration: Oversee fund accounting, valuation, and reporting.
• Investor Relations: Manage investor communications, queries, and reporting.
• Compliance and Risk: Ensure regulatory compliance, manage operational risks, and implement controls.
• Operational Due Diligence: Conduct operational reviews of potential investments.
• Portfolio Management Support: Assist the investment team with portfolio management, monitoring, and reporting.
• Team Management: Lead and develop the operations team, providing guidance and training.
• Process Improvement: Continuously review and enhance operational processes, implementing best practices.
• Vendor Management: Oversee relationships with external vendors, such as fund administrators, custodians, and auditors.
• Budgeting and Financial Management: Manage the fund's operational budget and financial resources.
• Regulatory and Industry Developments: Stay up to date with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices
• Thought Leadership: Contributing to industry research, best practices, and standards in ESG and climate finance.

Support MD

• Supporting the MD to further operationalise the Fund.
• Support the establishment and development of the Fund’s policies, governance structures, business plans and strategies in alignment with the NIF’s goals and objectives.
• Support the MD to attract additional capital for the Fund, project development partners and leveraging third party co-investment for opportunities, from local and international partners and players (whether financial or strategic).

Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES

Experience:

• Minimum 8-10 years of experience in operations, finance, or investment management
• Proven track record in managing operations teams and processes
• Experience in the infrastructure or alternative investments industry

JOB TASKS:

• Responsible for managing and overseeing the production and/or completion of construction projects from start to finish.
• Planning, budgeting, making key decisions, ensuring that projects fall within the proposed budget, and ensuring that all duties are executed and completed on time. 
• Create the schedules of projects which involve overseeing and managing production from the stage of conception to the completion phase.
• Coordinating deadlines to ensure that the completion of projects strictly adheres with the proposed time frame.
• Determine and/or evaluate the costs of projects, which involves preparing a detailed and accurate budget outlining both soft and hard costs.
• Find solutions and/or devise ways to reduce budgets, such as using alternative building materials when necessary.
• Supporting, overseeing, supervising, and working collaboratively with staff in day-to-day management, monitoring and controlling safety, and giving directions and providing suggestions when necessary.
• Attend project meetings and contribute to meetings by discussing budgets, plans, and goals, communicating and/or liaising with staff, supervisors, and several other professional personnel that are involved with the project.
• Ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity in the process of discharging the job duties.
• Creating and maintaining healthy relationships with Contractors, Engineers and other service providers.
• Researching, gathering, and presenting information to clients and/or stakeholders regarding contracts.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

• National Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management (or similar) and/or higher.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in road construction (site agent or contracts manager).
• Extensive experience in project and contracts management.
• In-depth knowledge of commercial contracting principles, practices, and legal compliance.
• Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple contracts simultaneously.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in dealing with internal teams and external stakeholders.
