Duties :

• As a head of unit, the candidate will be responsible for the clinical management of general medical patients and sub specialist medicine responsibilities. The incumbent will be required to lead operational and academic ward rounds including post-intake, follow-up and grand rounds.

• Completed Postgraduate Diploma in Maxillofacial Radiology, or M.Sc. in Maxillofacial Radiology. Experience in teaching and learning of undergraduate students with specific clinical supervision in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology.
• The incumbent must have experience in intraoral and extraoral radiology acquisitions and report writing with specific knowledge and experience CBCT.
• The following will serve as an added advantage: Candidates with a completed Postgraduate Diploma in Maxillofacial Radiology should demonstrate current registration for a master's in Maxillofacial Radiology. Any demonstrated experience in research will be an added advantage.

Duties :

• Diagnostic Radiography in Oral and Dental Hospital to ensure quality service delivery, radiation protection and dose reduction. Assessing and acquisition of images for patients in the Diagnostic Imaging unit, and other clinical duties as per the need of the institution.
• Supervision and assessment of undergraduate students in the Diagnostic Imaging unit.
• Attendance and participation in all departmental meetings including seminars and journal discussions as per the arrangements of the department. Lecturing and clinical supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students as needed in the department.
• Fulfil duties independently and apply innovative approaches in day-to day work and challenges. Shortlisted candidates will be subjected to a proficiency test within the discipline.

Requirements :

• BChD or BDS qualification, Current and valid registration with the HPCSA as a dentist in the category: Independent Practice, with a minimum two-years’ experience post community service.
• Completed Postgraduate Diploma in Forensic Odontology, or M.Sc. by course work in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology (for Oral Pathology) and MSc in Oral Biology (for Oral Biology).
• Experience in teaching and learning and clinical supervision of undergraduate students. The following will serve as an added advantage: CMSA or equivalent primaries in Anatomy and Anatomical Pathology will be an added advantage for the disciplines. Any demonstrated experience in research will be an added advantage.

Duties :

• Render clinical services in the Diagnostic Radiography Unit. Teaching and clinical training in Anatomical Pathology, Oral Biology and Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. Attendance and participation in all departmental meetings including seminars and journal discussions as per the arrangements of the department.
• Lecturing of undergraduate and postgraduate students as needed in the department. Lecturing and clinical supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students as needed in the department.

• Teaching and training of students in Endodontics, Dental material, Basic restorative dentistry as well as Peadodontics. Supervising students in the clinical wards in the Department of Odontology.
• You will also be required to complete Masters (if you don’t have one). You will be required to do research and publish at least one article per year in an ISI Journal.
• Selective clinical duties will be assigned to the candidate as seen fit by the Head of the Department. This may include managing and treating patients with special health care needs.
