    Senior Consultant

     

    As The Successful Candidate, You Will

    • Help develop and coach a small team of hydrometallurgy engineers in the development and improvement of hydrometallurgy process specialties
    • Develop and nurture long-term client relationships and business development across the African region
    • Be involved in conduction and completion of the process engineering component of studies and detailed design for projects; managing scope, schedule and budget for the process engineering team
    • Help lead the understanding, development and implementation of process technology
    • Lead the operational success of process technology
    • Be involved in or lead commissioning of equipment and systems
    • Mentor and develop engineers

    You Bring To The Role

    • Chemical engineering, metallurgy, chemistry, or other relevant degree
    • 15+ years process engineering experience in process operations and/or engineering contracting/consultancy organizations with a focus on hydrometallurgical processes
    • Known as a world leader in a specific process technology or unit process or as a highly skilled generalist
    • Strong leadership skills
    • Excellent understanding of procurement, contracting and commissioning methodologies
    • A high degree of understanding of interdisciplinary dependencies related to the discipline
    • Significant experience in engineering planning for the process engineering discipline
    • Ability to manage individuals to attain quality, cost and schedule objectives
    • Strong network of relationships with hydrometallurgical plant management or technical leadership in Africa
    • Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
    • Experience with working on major projects in a multidisciplinary team environment
    • Knowledge of the African hydrometallurgical process plants and technical issues experienced there.

    Buyer - EOI

    • Buyer is involved from the planning/initiation phase of projects until close-out of all purchasing packages and relates to the acquisition of materials and equipment in support of engineering and construction management. Purchasing interfaces primarily with Engineering and aligns its activities with Expediting, Vendor Quality Surveillance, Logistics, Site Materials Control, Project Controls and Construction.
    • The Buyer is experienced in the discipline of materials/equipment acquisition including the purchase of tagged, bulk and engineered materials for projects and carries out the “Formation and Award” as well as “Administration and close-out” work processes of all purchase orders (local and international) in accordance with the project requirements. The Buyer is the owner of the purchasing process from the planning/initiation stage to close-out.

    As the successful candidate, you will:

    Performs purchasing activities:

    • Preparation of Bidder’s List for approval
    • Liaison with Package Coordinator and other project disciplines to obtain and verify Technical bid documents to ensure that specification are compatible commercial documentation to form a cohesive Bid document
    • Preparation of Bid documents, advise on contractual terms and conditions and issuing of Invitation to Bid to the approved Bidders
    • Establish General terms and conditions suitable  per package
    • Manage the bidding process including technical queries from Bidders and issuance of addenda.
    • Manage bid clarification and adjudication process up to recommendation to award
    • Prepares and issue purchase orders including special terms and conditions
    • Facilitate Purchase order kick off meetings and handover to expediting
    • Ensure proper control and methodology of contractual change notice to Purchase Order
    • Revision, claims and/or backcharges in accordance with appropriate terms and conditions
    • Ensures proper process of Progress Payment validation process in support to accounting for payment approval
    • Manages bonds/guarantees
    • Ensures that all purchase orders are closed out in accordance with project specific procedures/requirements
    • Performs award and administration of purchase orders in accordance with applicable legislation relating to corporation, taxation, custom duties and importation laws

    General Managerial Duties:

    • Conducts regular team meetings to discuss status quo and any issues within the group
    • Resolve major problematic issues(Performance, cost, etc.) arising from the vendor’s end
    • Liaises with procurement manager to discuss performance appraisals/issues
    • Provides updates and reporting to Project Procurement Manager/Materials Manager on procurement performance metrics such as cost, negotiated savings, low-cost country sourcing and schedule
    • Facilitates communication within project

    You bring to the role:

    Essential

    • Extensive experience in an EPCM project environment on capital projects, specifically purchasing of project material (tagged, engineered and bulk)
    • Procurement related training as well as general supervisory and management related training
    • Experience and contractual knowledge base with regards to the drafting of commercial terms and conditions
    • Highly proficient negotiation skills

    Project Planner Senior

    Summary

    • The Senior Planner is responsible for the delivery of project planning, reporting and progress measurement, ensuring that Hatch procedures and best practices are applied, as appropriate, and recommending changes to the Lead Planner and Project Controls Manager where required.
    • The Senior Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining a project plan and schedule to meet the project objectives.

    Key Responsibilities
    Safety

    • Personal responsibility for stopping any unsafe behavior as and when it occurs, and thereafter reporting the safety incident so that corrective action may be obtained

    Data development, verification, and set-up planning

    • Project coding, project control systems set-up and reporting verification
    • Based on project coding, populate approved measurable commodity quantities and productivity factors
    • Based on project coding, confirm, and refine the Construction level 3/4 scheduling, including early works and understand schedule basis.
    • Analyze contractor level 4/5 schedule and provide recommendations. Discuss any variations from baseline with Lead Planner & Construction Manager.
    • Maintain and optimize schedule, monitor progress, highlight and resolve schedule issues

    Project schedule monitoring, updates and general

    • Update the schedule in conjunction with the lead planner
    • Generate and verify weekly updates and issue progress reports
    • Incorporate contract baseline data (contract schedules)
    • Maintain and optimize schedule, monitor progress, highlight and resolve schedule issues
    • Extract and publish project schedules
    • Generate progress curves
    • Develop and maintain commodity and resource profile
    • Extract and publish 2 to 4-week look ahead schedule
    • Review & Verification of Sub-Consultants’ schedules
    • Development of Change Management impact schedules.
    • Physical progress verification of Contractors and Sub-Contractors progress against baseline schedule
    • Monitor slippages and critical and near critical paths and discuss with Lead Planner and Project Controls Manager for resolution

    Progress and performance measurement

    • Undertake progress and performance measurement.
    • Integration of Earned and Spent hour reporting.
    • Identification and addressing slippage trends.
    • Generate and verify weekly updates and issue reports - schedule and progress reports. Maintain and optimize schedule and monitor progress. Highlight and resolve issues.

    Qualifications and Experience

    Essential

    • Three years tertiary qualification, relevant degree or diploma in engineering or project management or suitable comparable experience
    • 8-10 years’ experience as a Planner in a multi discipline project environment
    • Sound technical knowledge in a multi-discipline environment
    • Primavera Project Planner P6 & Microsoft Projects
    • Technical overview of work methods and techniques
    • Risk management principles
    • Good knowledge of project management principles.

    Preferred

    • Interpersonal and good communication skills
    • Knowledge of forms of contract will be a definite advantage.
    • Computer literacy (MS Office package)
    • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
    • Problem solving and mitigating skill
    • Verbal and written communications
    • Presentation skill
    • Report writing skill
