    SHE Officer

    Role Context

    Risk Assessment and Management

    • Review SHE compliance requirements of contractors before they commence with projects
    • Monitor contractor compliance on site until close out of the project
    • Conduct follow up audits where necessary
    • Compile statistics and reports regarding SHE
    • Implement SHE document control system
    • Administer COID at respective site

    Incident Investigation and Response Management 

    • Document and report near misses, minor, disabling injuries and fatalities as required
    • Document and report environment incidents as required
    • Document and report incidents associated with emergency preparedness
    • Investigate accidents and incidents and submit investigation reports to the SHE Superintendent
    • Monitor that incident mitigation measures are implemented
    • Conduct incident recall with all employees and interrogate case studies

    Compliance Management 

    • Monitor the implementation of safety, health, and environmental (SHE) Policies, standards, procedures programs and systems
    • Coordinate appointments of SHE and emergency preparedness legal appointments
    • Ensure health and safety inspections of the workplace and liaise with workplace management on implementation and monitoring plans
    • Undertake SHE Management System audits
    • Participate in internal and external SHE audits
    • Implement the SHE annual plan
    • Ensure that SHE audit findings are resolved as per the action plan

    Stakeholder Relations

    • Liaise with sites, hospitals and doctors for outstanding reports and accounts per telephone, e-mail or visits
    • Follow up with the hospital to ensure that doctors and hospitals are paid on time
    • Liaise with HR department for staff statistics to update TIFR monthly Report to SHE Superintendent monthly
    • Report to the Department of Labour as required OR any other regulatory departments

    Resource Management

    • Train staff on SHE policies, procedures and practices
    • Conduct SHE induction for all new employees, contractors and visitors, and periodical refresher training for employees
    • Provide input in the review of training manuals to ensure current practice is reflected therein
    • Conduct educational awareness campaigns through various means and platforms on SHE programs
    • Ensure toolbox talks and daily risk assessments take place
    • Assist with periodic exercises to test emergency preparedness of the facilities

    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    • Grade 12 (NQF4) 
    • Relevant national diploma or in Safety Management or Environmental Management

    Job Specific Experience:

    • Certificates in ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 or equivalent qualification 
    • HIRA Certificate 
    • SAMTRAC Certificate or equivalent
    • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience with SHE
    • Valid Driver’s License (code 08) 
    • SHE Auditing 
    • HIRA and Incident Investigation
    • Understanding of environmental management tools and principles 
    • Application of emergency preparedness and associated legislation requirements 
    • Understanding electronic SHE management systems 
    • Experience/Exposure on MS Dynamics F&O, Reporting tools: MS Power BI

    Finance Manager

    Role Context

    • Managing the finance portfolio of Arxo Metals
    • Preparation/review of monthly dashboards, management accounts and accounting pack;
    • Preparation/review of annual financial statements;
    • Preparation/review of annual budgets and forecast;
    • Assist in planning and implementing future expansion of the financial and purchasing portfolios in Arxo Metals to comply with segregation of duties of the portfolios.
    • Assisting external and internal audits where necessary;
    • Financial modelling and forecasting to determine the commercial viability of various new projects;
    • Implementation of financial controls and financial treatment of transactions relating to new projects that reached commercial phase;
    • Preparation of board reports;
    • Manage finance staff to accomplish the following monthly requirements:
    • Responsible for weekly cash management and tax and statutory compliance and statutory payments;
    • Approve monthly supplier payments, salaries, beneficiaries and ad hoc payments;
    • Monthly payroll review;
    • Responsible for monthly review of general ledger accounts;
    • Overall responsibility for all daily accounting complexities in accordance with IFRS;
    • Sage order approvals;
    • SARS engagements and compliance with specific reference to beneficial income tax deductions of research and development expenditure;
    • Inventory costing (WIP & finished) and movements;
    • Supplier negotiations and pricing;
    • Preparations of CBE’s;
    • HR matters (RMA/WCA, contracts, interviews, employment equity, training requirements, UI19’s etc.);
    • BEE strategy, execution and audits;
    • Staff training and development;
    • Development and implementations of SOPS;
    • New system implementation (Microsoft Dynamics, OneStream, treasury payments);
    • Assist the team were requested in finance - other ad hoc matters;
    • Operational inputs and follow-ups on production progress. 

    Requirements

    Qualifications

    • Grade 12/ NQF Level 4,
    • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting or Economics.
    • CA (SA)

    Job-specific experience

    • Extensive understanding of financial trends both within the company and general market patterns;
    • Sound experience in cost accounting practices and implementation of systems related to this.
    • Financial modeling to determine viability of expansions with regard to cash generation and costing.
    • Five years’ experience at managerial level;
    • Experience in the financial aspects of mining/manufacturing operations such as cost control, budgeting, ERP systems and return on investment;
    • Computer literate (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.).

    Engineering Aid

    Role Context

    • Safely execute critical daily maintenance tasks
    • Execute shutdown activities as per plan, according to scheduled time
    • To give direction to Assistant contractors under their area of responsibility 
    • Support asset care and optimisation for ensuring customer needs are met 
    • Assist the engineering team to ensure health and safety of employees it is taken care of through safely maintaining equipment
    • Maintain good housekeeping standards
    • Stop and report any contraventions of the OHSA, regulations, codes of practice Smelter standards and instructions promptly to the engineering foreman
    • Obtain job card and permit to work before any task execution
    • Conduct pre-work risk assessment for every task
    • The safe use of engineering tools and test equipment
    • Inspect plant equipment components and systems to identify hazards defects and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with the relevant standards
    • Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous
    • Perform a variety of routine and preventive maintenance duties in the fields of electrical and mechanical engineering 
    • Clean up work areas, equipment, supplies and materials; apply standard safety practices and procedures
    • Ensure safe execution of the task
    • Ensure that the equipment handed back to the operation is in a safe and operable condition

    Requirements

    Minimum Requirements:

    Qualifications:

    • Grade 12 and/or Minimum N2 Certificate
    • Trade Qualifications: Red sealed Engineering Trade certificate or SAQA Verified Trade Certificate);

    Job Specific Experience:

    • Sound knowledge in electrical arc furnaces 
    • Solid experience in an industrial environment 
    • 2 years’ experience working in the engineering department 
    • Valid driving license (code 08) and own transport
