    Assistant Club General Manager

    Your Purpose...

    • To inspire people to live active lives
    • This role is responsible for all aspects of the operational and financial performance of the club, including income statements, sales retention, and brand standards and people management.

    Your Duties and Responsibilities...

    Financial Management

    • Ensuring that the club operates as a profitable business unit
    • Control income and expenses against budget
    • Manage according to company standards in order to reduce risk (salary requirements, Audit reports, etc)

    Facility Management

    • Manage Operations and Health and Safety and ensure procedures are followed according to the standards

    People Management

    • Responsible for the recruitment, development and training of staff
    • Ensure all information is communicated effectively to all club staff
    • Implement and ensure the adherence to required policies, procedures and systems

    Customer Experience

    Maintenance Technician- CPT

    Your Purpose...

    Your Duties and Responsibilities...

    Complete preventative maintenance activities on the following equipment (but not limited to): 

    • Out of Warranty Fitness Equipment
    • Swimming Pool/Spa Systems
    • Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning Systems (HVAC)
    • Hot and Cold-Water Systems
    • All building preventative maintenance tasks
    • Sauna
    • Steam Rooms
    • Complete any re-active maintenance that is logged in the maintenance & Health and Safety Job book.
    • Respond to all emergency repairs. 
    • Ensure the Maintenance Operator or Maintenance Technician (where applicable) onsite is continually upskilled to complete his/her responsibilities. 
    • Discuss all contractor requests if required with the Club General Manager and Regional Facility Manager before requesting a purchase order. 
    • Escalate any issues that can’t be resolved to the Club General Manager and Regional Facility Manager. 
    • Ensure the preventative maintenance within the clubs is completed in line with VASA policies & procedures. 
    • Fulfil duties which covers Health and Safety processes and checks required to maintain H&S compliance within the club. 
    • Communicate guidelines regarding the understanding of and adherence to the health & safety policy.
    • Ensure that all documents regarding the health and safety policy are filed regularly and the cabinet and its contents are kept up to date.
    • Communicate all operating standards to the relevant staff through their heads of departments and that they remain updated.
    • Ensure that work standards, security and safety is monitored and improved in all areas of the facility.
    • Conduct Health and Safety Audits as directed by the business.

    Regional Club Experience Specialist

    Your Purpose...

    Your Duties and Responsibilities...

    Club Experience Manager Coaching and Capability Building

    • Coach and mentor Club Experience Managers to deliver consistent member experiences
    • Support newly appointed Club Experience Managers through structured onboarding.
    • Identify development opportunities and create individualized development plans
    • Facilitate regional customer experience forums and best practice sessions.
    • Implement succession pipeline for development of future Customer Experience Specialist within the region
    • Be involved in the recruitment process of new CEMs (External and Internal). This function is done in conjunction with Head of Customer Service, the CGM and Regional specialist should be entrusted and be accountable to recruit at club level.  As Head of Function, you should oversee the succession pipeline for CEMS and Regional Specialists
    • Conduct regular club visits using observation, coaching, role-modelling, workshops and member-journey reviews to embed service standards.

    Member Experience and Front-Of-House Standards

    • Own the regional delivery of the Front of House Service Ambassador Strategy by ensuring teams consistently deliver exceptional hospitality at every member touchpoint.

    • Facilitate workshops covering: - be the SME for service training content, and work alongside L&D to ensure the learning framework is followed, i.e. use LMS to rollout training along with in classroom training. The Regional CES should ensure all CEMS are qualified master trainers who in turn will deliver the training at club level across all SA’s .

    Member Resolution and Service Recovery

    • Own the regional training plans for Freshdesk and Case Management once gaps or shortfalls have been identified.
    • Support clubs by ensuring teams:
    • Understand Case Management principles.
    • Resolve member queries confidently.
    • Meet SLA expectations.
    • Deliver high-quality written communication.
    • Close the loop effectively with members.
    • Understand escalation pathways.
    • Support the Head of Customer Experience in developing, implementing and embedding recovery and continuous improvement plans for high-volume Case Management trends through coaching, training and regional support.
    • Develop clubs to use member feedback as a coaching opportunity rather than simply closing cases.

    • Matric qualification
    • A tertiary qualification is advantageous
    • 5+ years in a  Customer Experience/Service, Hospitality or Club Operations role 
    • 2+ years in a multi-site role, managing multiple, stores, or locations 
    • Preferable experience within a premium retail, or hospitality or wellness industry 
    • Proven ability to lead influence teams 
    • Strong training facilitation skills
    • Experience managing customer service and complaint resolution.
    • Sound understanding of Freshdesk or similar Case Management systems.

    The purpose of this role is to recover outstanding membership fees in as little time as possible and preserving long-term relationship with the member.

    • To collect the Virgin Active Way, collections agent must be polite and sensitive towards our members while also remaining committed to their purpose and persistence

    Duties and Responsibilities....

    • To always do your bit towards achieving our strategic business vision and do it in a way that aligns to our business values of learning, improving and inspiring while having fun and always doing the right thing.
    • Our collections agents are responsible for handling arrear memberships telephonically or via written correspondence
    • It is their responsibility to collect arrears by using the in-house collections methodology and ensure these clients remain part of the Virgin Active family
    • Dealing with member queries and complaints on all levels in a competent, efficient, and professional way, in accordance with the quality and performance standard. All dealings with members must be in alignment with the company culture and values
    • Working cross functionally with other department leaders to ensure that the objectives of the business are being met and outcomes are being delivered

    Minimum Requirements....

    • Matric or equivalent qualification
    • Up to 3 years’ experience as collections agent/representative or similar sales role
    • Proven track record of successfully meeting collections budgets preferably over the phone
    • Outstanding negotiation skills with the ability to resolve issues and address complaints
    • Must be able to converse, read and understand English 
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Must be resilient to handle customer rejection
    • An ability to multitask, must be able to switch between multiple systems while helping customers and switch channels frequently – from the phone to email
