Your responsibilities will include:
- To collaborate with the Enterprise Architecture team and broader Technology Group in order to co-produce the long-term Vodacom Enterprise Architecture.
- To collaborate on technical Evolution Roadmaps for various technologies within or across domains, taking into consideration the relevant standards, industry and market trends and relevant business needs.
- To produce technical Target Architectures for technical domains in order to transform the Technology landscape in line with the company strategy.
- To communicate effectively maintain sound Relationships at the relevant levels within the Company and all other Commercial customers within Vodacom in accordance with agreed strategies with Line Management.
This includes:
- To be able to communicate at all levels within the organization through documented outputs tailored to the specific project/initiative, engagement, audience and desired outcome. This could include written documents, presentations, reports, memos, meetings, workshops, etc.
- To effectively present outputs produced to all levels (with management support at CxO levels) within the organization.
- To work with a peer architect group in requesting and providing peer review and guidance on initiatives and deliverables.
- To produce global industry standard, professionally written documents for all initiatives.
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
- Matric/Grade 12 (or SAQA Accredited equivalent) is essential
- A 3-year degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering (Light Current) is essential. Honour’s degree preferred
- A minimum of 2-5 years total experience in the telecommunications Industry is essential, 2 years of which should ideally be in Architecture, Systems Planning or Systems Design.
Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:
In depth knowledge/experience of the Telecommunication Industry in one of the following domains:
- Mobile Telecommunications technologies, including Access, Transmission and Core Network knowledge, both Circuit and Packet switched
- Mobile bearer technologies as defined by 3GPP/IETF/GSMA
- Data, AI & Analytics technologies Enterprise platforms such as data lakes, Data Lakehouse, Data Management & Governance and analytics platforms for reporting and insights. This includes AI/ML capabilities that would enable data driven decision making, operational optimization and insights within Telecommunications
- Telecommunications BSS knowledge including (but not limited to) CRM , Technologies (including Online), Charging/Billing/Mediation, MCCM/BI Technologies and Middleware/Integration Technologies.
- Digital Evolution technologies including 5G, Cloud, Platforms, Microservices, Disruptive Technologies, Artificial Intelligence, Robotic Process Automation, Internet of Things and so forth.
- General knowledge of key technology concepts that impact Telecommunications and the broader ICT industry in order to provide thought leadership
- Enterprise Architecture Methodologies, Standards and Best Practices as defined by industry architectural bodies.
- Communications skills including interpersonal skills, presentation skills, negotiation skills, relationship building ability, management reporting etcetera.
- Use of English language for professional technical writing to produce presentations and documents that are of global industry standard.
