    Plant Operator – (UREA/UAN/NK)

    Job Description    

    • Responsible for making batches of in specification UREA/UAN/NK
    • Loading of Urea tankers
    • Offloading of Urea(Raw material)

    Required outputs: functional

    • Strictly follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Work instructions (WI’s), and company SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment and Quality) standards.
    • Safely load Urea 43% using the loading gantry, ensuring correct quantities are loaded; report any discrepancy immediately to the Team Leader.
    • Required to complete and sign checklists, including bulk loading, dangerous goods, vehicle driver compliance, forklift inspections, and job cards.
    • Maintain a clean and orderly plant environment, promptly report unsafe or faulty equipment to the Team Leader.
    • Assist with stocktakes and other operational task as required, including work in areas outside your usual scope as directed by the Team Leader or Production Superintendent.
    • To undertake any legal ad hoc tasks for which the incumbent is competent as directed by Management.
    • To ensure that machinery/equipment under the incumbent’s responsibility is kept in a safe and good working condition.
    • Required to comply with all occupational health and safety requirements and remain alert to the hazardous nature of materials handled.
    • Ensure accurate and honest reporting of incidents, near misses and safety hazards.
    • To actively support and participate in maintaining all SHEQ Management Systems standards/requirements.
    • To adhere to all internal control policies as directed by Management.

    Qualifications & Experience    

    • Matric / Grade 12.
    • Diploma or certificate in chemical plant operations related courses advantageous.
    • Minimum of 1 year’s chemical plant operation experience in Production and items allied thereto.
    • Must be able to drive a forklift, be medically fit to drive a forklift and be in possession of a valid forklift driver’s license.
    • Basic computer literacy skills.
    • Required to work shifts.
    • Knowledge of SHEQ Management Systems standard/requirements advantageous

    Machine Operator X 2

    Job Description    

    • Performs the packing activities in packing areas by taking the finished product following the production process and ensuring that it is packed in line with company standards in preparation for sale or distribution.

    Required ouputs: functional

    • Assist with cleaning/decontamination tasks, i.e. draining/cleaning of vessels/pipes, unblocking of pipes, etc.
    • Optimize packing machine run times by reporting downtime due to drum shortages, breakdowns, etc.
    • Required to report all downtime to the Team Leader immediately.
    • Ensure good housekeeping standards are maintained in areas of responsibility.
    • Respond to instructions received from the Team Leader.
    • Report all relevant equipment breakdowns or deviations to the Team Leader.
    • Help to keep packaging lines in a clean and safe condition.
    • Adhere to quality standards as specified by the Plant Operator/Team Leader.
    • Assist Management with problem solving tasks.
    • Required to report all non-conformance issues, e.g. spillages, off spec product, packaging problems, etc. to the Team Leader.
    • Ensure correct quantity/type of packing material is collected from the Stores and sign appropriate space on relevant job cards.
    • Adhere to production packing targets as specified by the Team Leader.
    • Required to conform to relevant SHEQ rules and regulations as per company policy
    • Required to work in other work areas as directed by the Team Leader/Production Manager.
    • On occasion required to carry out miscellaneous legal ad hoc tasks for which the incumbent is competent as instructed by the Team Leader.
    • To participate and assist to maintain SHEQ Management System certificates/standards.

    Qualifications & Experience    

    • Matric / Grade 12.
    • Able to drive a forklift, be medically fit to drive a forklift and be in possession of a valid forklift driver’s license.
    • Minimum of 3 - 6 month’s experience in a Production and / or Packaging environment and items allied thereto.
    • Minimum of 6 months’ forklift driving experience.
    • Required to maintain medical fitness to drive a forklift in order to successfully have the forklift driver’s license renewed.
    • Basic computer literacy skills.
    • Able to work independently as well as within a team and be able to multi-task with attention to detail.
    • Possess a sound knowledge of production procedures.
    • Knowledge of SHEQ Management Systems standards/requirements would be advantageous.
