    Payroll Administrator (Central Office Hatfield)

    Description

    • Ensure accurate employee static data is in line with statutory requirements.
    • Implement adequate payroll processes to ensure compliance with legislative requirements.
    • Review of static data after system updates to ensure all is correct.
    • Check correctness of information provided by HCM i.e. overtime, standby allowance, leave gratuity, long service allowance, wages hours and timesheets.
    • Apply for tax directive on eFiling.
    • Process changes to medical aid, trade unions, retirement funds.
    • Validation of correctness of payroll inputs by issuing the variance report to HCM before payments for each pay run i.e. weekly, monthly for the 15th and end of the month.
    • Ensure that the S&T import file is imported correctly for weekly payment.
    • Processing of payroll related payment journals for each payment processed.
    • Check the correctness of the salary journals before rolling over to the next period.
    • Reconciliation of payroll accounts.
    • Ensure pay slips and IRP5's are sent to ESS on time.
    • Ensure filling of employee records is properly filed for easy retrieval.
    • Prepare monthly external payment files and send files for payment.
    • Prepare the EMP201 and filing thereof on eFiling and processing of payments timely to maintain compliance.
    • Send UIF Declarations to the Department of Labour.
    • Do validations to ensure employee data, meet SARS requirements.                      
    • Liaise with HR personnel with employee payroll related matters.

    Requirements

    • Diploma in Payroll Administration or related qualification.
    • Experience /training in SAGE 300 People is essential.
    • Two (2) years’ relevant payroll experience.
    • Proficiency in the MS Office suite.
    • Good understanding of financial concepts and payroll.
    • Knowledge Legislation, e.g., Income Tax, BCEA, Pension Fund Rules and Medical Schemes.
    • Ability to work under pressure.
    • Ability to resolve problems.
    • Deadline driven and analytic thinker.
    • Ability to build relationships.

    Senior Researcher: Epidemiology And Training (Onderstepoort)

    Description

    • Manage the Unit by way of packaging ARC-OVR knowledge and technologies into training interventions.
    • Establish the ARC-OVR as a premier training institution for continuing education and short courses in animal health for farmers, animal health technicians, vets and related professions.
    • Collaborate with sister institutions including institutions of higher learning in delivering agricultural support services at community level.
    • Establish the ARC-OVR as the institution of choice for continental and regional training hub for laboratory short courses in Animal Health.
    • Ensure participation of communities in the research and development agenda.
    • Manage courses and trainer schedule for smooth running of the Unit.
    • Ensure accreditation of ARC-OVR as an agricultural training provider and accreditation of ARC-OVR courses.
    • Ensure capacity building of researchers and technicians as trainers, assessors and moderator.
    • Collaborate with extension services of DoA for continuous technology upgrade of extension officers.
    • Generate income from training.
    • Advise research programs, including statistical analysis, surveillance systems, and public health improvement.
    • Investigate diseases or parasites to determine cause and risk factors, progress, life cycle, or mode of transmission.
    • Plan and advise research studies to investigate human or animal disease, preventive methods, and treatments for disease.
    • Plan, administer and evaluate health safety standards and programs to improve public health, conferring with health department, industry personnel, physicians and others.
    • Provide expertise in the design, management and evaluation of study protocols and research questionnaires, sample selection and analysis.
    • Conduct research to develop methodologies, instrumentation and procedures for veterinary application, analyzing data and presenting findings.
    • Consult with and advise researchers, DoA, NDoH officials and others regarding veterinary applications of sciences, such as physics, biology, and chemistry.
    • Supervise professional, technical and clerical personnel.
    • Identify and analyze public health issues related to foodborne parasitic diseases and their impact on public policies or scientific studies or surveys.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc)/ Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery (BVMCh) with MSc (PhD will be an added advantage).
    • Experience in epidemiology and training.
    • Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in a similar environment.
    • Knowledge of science and agricultural landscape.
    • Knowledge of Agricultural Education and training framework.
    • Knowledge of Qualification framework and national skills framework.
    • Knowledge of research study design and evaluation.
    • Knowledge of statistical analysis and surveillance systems.
    • Knowledge of public health and One Health systems.
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Public speaking essential.
    • Conceptual and analytical skills.
    • Project management skills.
    • Presentation skills.

    Internship: BacteriolgyX3 (2 Years Fixed Term Contract) (Onderstepoort)

    Description

    • Sample collection at abattoirs.
    • Receiving and cataloguing of samples in the laboratory.
    • Organizing and preparing samples.
    • Assists in the preparation of test reagents.
    • Performs microbiological, serological and molecular assays for the detection and identification of bacterial agents using well defined procedures.
    • Keeps records and makes reports on assignments received.

    Requirements

    • BSc Hons in Microbiology, Animal Health or related field.
