    Virtual Branch: Account Verification Officer - KZN - 12 Month FTC

    MAIN FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

    AVS Verification

    • Perform AVS checks on new beneficiaries and once-off payments via the integrated Enterprise AVS platform.
    • Verify mandatory fields including:
    • ID number / Passport number / Company registration number
    • Bank account number 

    Validate optional fields when available:

    • Surname or business name
    • Contact number or email. 

    Review AVS results including:

    • Successful match
    • Partial match

    Failed verification 

    • Interpret masked AVS responses and determine whether escalation is required.

    Reporting

    •  Generate daily or weekly reports on:
    • Number of AVS checks performed
    • Match vs partial match vs failed verifications

    Exceptions and escalations.

    Transactional Banking Administration

    • Effects not cleared base 1, base 2, SMS,DMS
    • Enterprise – provide support for: (cards/eft), logging defects on Excalibur, testing production bugs, enterprise & internet offline
    • Enterprise – provide Branch support for: internet banking / corporate banking / enterprise & UDT
    • Cards: order cards/pin mailer /envelopes & recon for stock of cards.
    • Log CQLS queries (EFT disputes /recalls) & approve credits (SQS disputes)
    • EFT duplicates & SABRIC Repatriation of funds.
    • Screens all incoming calls as and when required and ensures messages left are given to the respective staff members
    • Arranges and coordinates meetings as required
    • Takes minutes at meetings for the division & Compiles meeting packs for meetings relating to the division and records sessions.
    • Prepares the electronic payment requisition and obtains relevant signatures and thereafter forwards to the finance department for processing of payment – inclusive of Bankserve, ccd, DT,FG
    • Keeps an electronic and filed copy of a schedule of payments made
    • Conducts fee comparison with other banks twice a year
    • Extracts reports weekly and as required and forwards these to the relevant meeting eg. Exco, ECC (includes EXCO Dashboard Statistics)

    Strategic Support

    • Provide comprehensive strategic and administrative support to the COO team in relation to Transactional Banking functions, initiatives and reporting.

    Vivere Administration

    • EDD transactions over R250k - statement request (3 months bank statements SOF)
    • International Banking application to be completed and client to be called to confirm BOP category
    • Provide card order information to CCD on a daily basis and follow up with clients who didn’t collect cards
    • Create Manual accounts via the Vivere back office when the onboarding fails.
    • Order cards manually for clients who want additional cards via the Vivere back office
    • Assist with Client query support from Customer Services.

    Requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • A Certificate of Relevant qualifications in Administration will be required in order to meet the requirements of the role at the highest level of competence.

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE 

    • A minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience 
    • Previous working experience in a Banking/ Corporate environment

    Risk Analyst - Kwazulu Natal

    Risk Management

    • Identifies Key Risk Indicators (KRI) and tolerance levels, where appropriate in respect of major risks facing the bank through workshops and meetings with Risk Owners 
    • Records and maintains the risk register for Risk events and risk indicators, with an analysis and prioritise actions to mitigate associated risks.
    • Ensures that Risk Management Programmes are maintained and up to date with current developments and trends within the industry and in keeping with Group policies and that they are appropriate for the bank.
    • Develop and enhance the risk management framework, policies, and procedures specific to Islamic banking to effectively identify, assess, and mitigate risks.
    • Monitor and analyse internal and external risk factors
    • Assist to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to risk management and Islamic banking principles.
    • Implement risk management tools and systems to facilitate risk identification, measurement, and reporting.
    • Specific focus on credit, capital, liquidity, and operational risk management. Other risk areas must be also considered especially in terms of its impact on the Bank.
    • To use robotics and artificial intelligence where possible to improve risk reporting.

    Annual Risk Functional Plan:

    • Assist to develop objectives for the plan
    • Completing risk monitoring and reporting and ensuring clarification of risk measurement based on impact and probability are recorded appropriately.
    • Escalating risk matters requiring attention and making appropriate recommendation to mitigate risks, where appropriate to the risk manager
    • Implement the annual functional plan for the risk management department, aligning objectives with the organization’s strategic goals.
    • Assisting in setting key performance indicators (KPIs) and targets to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of risk management initiatives.

    Regulatory:

    • Identify and comply with regulatory requirements pertaining specifically to risk management such as the implementation and continuous embedment of Risk Data Aggregation and Risk Reporting (RDARR).
    • Maintain an updated ICAAP that considers the major risks facing the Bank and capital required to manage.
    • Identify any other regulatory requirements that may require risk management assistance such as Recovery Plan, Cyber resilience, Business Continuity etc.
    • Assist to implement ABG (Albaraka Group) recommendations on credit, liquidity, and other risk areas where necessary.

    Strategy:

    • Contribute to the regular review and execution of the organization's risk appetite and risk tolerance framework.
    • Assist with managing and reporting of the Banks development and implementation of the Strategic plan.

    Internal Controls and Insurance:

    • Assist to ensure the maintenance of robust internal control mechanisms to mitigate risks and comply with regulatory requirements.
    • Collaborate with relevant departments to assess insurance needs, ensuring adequate coverage for identified risks.

    Fraud Risk Management

    • Identify, assess, and monitor fraud risks across business processes and operations.
    • Support the implementation and maintenance of fraud risk management frameworks, controls, and preventative measures.
    • Monitor fraud incidents, trends, and emerging risks, and escalate material issues where required.
    • Assist in fraud investigations and support the resolution of fraud-related incidents.
    • Promote a strong anti-fraud and ethical culture across the organisation

    Administration

    • Complies with departmental policies and procedure manuals in line with Banks Act and Regulations, Board directives and best business practice.
    • Evaluates policies and procedures including methodologies, measurement, and reporting on an ongoing basis and amendments effectively implemented across the organisation.
    • Assist to report departmental progress monthly to EXCO, quarterly to Risk and Capital Management Committee of the Board
    • Assist to monitor Functional Plans as approved and ensures that it is adhered to, completed and remains within the department’s budget.
    • Monitoring of department budget and reporting to EXCO and investigates monthly variances
    • The development and maintenance of risk management policies and procedures to ensure their effectiveness and alignment with the organization’s objectives.
    • Collaborate with other departments to implement risk management initiatives

    Internal and External Communication

    • Daily, weekly, and yearly planning meetings with the Risk Manager to identify any key events that require attention.
    • Distributes Risk reports to Chairman of Risk and Capital Management Committee and line Executive.
    • Communicates feedback regarding impacts and probability of significant risks to the Risk Manager and pro-actively manage risks requiring urgent attention.
    • Communicating with external consultants, auditors, and other industry role players (SABRIC, SAFPS, BASA, etc)
    • Attending meetings hosted by SARB, BASA, SABRIC, SAFPS, BASA, etc

    Requirements

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

    • A minimum 3 years of Auditing and /or Banking experience

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • A B. Com degree or Relevant Qualifications in Risk Management or equivalent will be required to meet the requirements of the role at the highest level of competence
    • A newly qualified Chartered Accountant would be advantageous

    Reporting Analyst KZN - 5 Months FTC

    MAIN FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB INCLUDE:

    Vat

    • Calculates the monthly VAT (bi·monthly for Albaraka Properties (Pty) Ltd and Albaraka Financial Services (Pty) Ltd) payable to SARS.
    • Prepares the monthly VAT schedule which is reviewed by the Finance Reporting Manager prior to submitting the VAT 201.
    • Calculates VAT on the imported services.
    • Calculated the Output VAT on Transaction Income.
    • Ensures timeous payment of VAT to avoid interest and penalties.
    • Records VAT in the general ledger in respect of Input VAT, Output VAT, VAT on Capital Expenditure, VAT on overseas services and VAT payments. 

    AIBaraka Bank subsidiaries

    • Responsible for the management accounts of Albaraka Properties (Pty) Ltd and Albaraka Financial Services (Pty) Ltd, namely, preparing monthly journals, reconciliations with supporting schedules and documentation.

    BA Returns

    • Prepares BA returns together with supporting schedules and calculations for reporting to SARB as required (15th, 20th, 25th, 30th  working days), for all monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and annual returns.
    • Follows up on schedules that are completed by other departments, and ensure that these schedules are authorised by the respective departmental managers and filed
    • Ensures that all returns are completed 3 working days before the due date to enable management review
    • Assists the Financial Manager with responding to queries raised by SARB
    • Prepares and submits the daily Forex return (BA 325).
    • Ensure that the monthly variance analysis and other information as requested is submitted to the Reserve Bank timeously.

    Monthly reporting to ABG / Exco / ALCO/ Monthly Management Meetings 

    • Prepares the monthly ABG report with supporting schedules for submission to ABG by the 6th   working day of the month
    • Prepares the monthly ALCO Pack with supporting schedules for submission to the monthly meeting by the required deadline
    • Completes the required schedules and analysis for submission to Exco and Performance Exco by the required deadlines
    • Prepares the Head office and Finance department variance analysis for the Finance Executives monthly management meeting, for submission by the 7th working day of the month

     Quarterly reporting to ABG

    • Prepares the quarterly ABG schedules together with supporting schedules and calculations for reporting to ABG.
    • Ensures that information is completed within the required deadlines to enable management review, review by the external auditors, and onward submission to ABG as per ABG reporting deadlines.
    • Complete the quarterly ABG GCEO slides within the required deadlines to enable management review, and onward submission to ABG as per ABG deadlines.

    Board Submissions

    • Ensures that quarterly board and board committee reports are prepared, reviewed and submitted timeously.

     Financial statements

    • Annual Financial Statements preparation and Integrated Annual report compilation and administration.
    • Prepares the interim annual report as at 30 June each year

    FATCA Reporting

    • Ensures that IT3(b), IT3(s) and FATCA Reporting is accurately prepared and submitted to SARS by the due dates, being 31 May and 31 October each year
    • Ensures that IT3(t) Reporting is accurately prepared and submitted to SARS by the due dates, being 30 September each year

    ​​​​​​​BASA/PASA Meetings

    • Acts as the bank’s representative on selective BASA/PASA committees

     Other

    • Assist Finance staff with queries from other departments or clients.
    • Assist internal & external clients timeously & efficiently.
    • Assist in training other staff and providing assistance where necessary.
    • Identify and implement automation within the reporting function to streamline and enhance processes, thereby reducing manual effort and increasing efficiency.

    Requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Diploma/degree in finance/accounting or related studies

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

    • A minimum of 2 years of experience is required in a well-established firm or banking all general aspects of banking / reporting.
    • Proficient in all areas of finance.
