    Bursars Mining Engineering

    Job Description:

    Bursaries

    If you are a Grade 12 learner when you apply, and you receive one of our bursaries, you will get the opportunity to thoroughly investigate and confirm your career choice by working with professional practitioners for up to a year before you start with your tertiary studies.

    Our Bursaries includes tuition fees, a private accommodation allowance or accommodation costs (a university residence with a self-catering allowance or a university residence including meals), a computer/laptop allowance, personal allowance, textbook allowance and our company medical aid scheme is available to you as a scholarship or bursary recipient. You may remain on your parent or guardian’s medical aid, but you must submit proof of this.

    Qualifications:

    What you will need:

    • Grade 12 learners must submit their Grade 11 results, stamped by the school, and provisional acceptance at a tertiary institution.
    • 1st year students: Grade 12 (Mathematics, Science and English with 60% pass rate). Applied and Accepted - 1st year Mining Engineering (4-year degree - BSc, BEng, BET) - NQF8
    • 2nd year students: Registered as a 1st year currently studying must have passed all modules that they have registered for
    • 3rd year students: Must be currently completing 2nd year and pass all modules and must have passed all subjects you are currently registered for at tertiary institution.
    • 4th year students: Must be currently completing 3rd year and pass all modules and must have passed all subjects you are currently registered for at tertiary institution.

    Learning Officer Engineering

    Job Description:

    The focus for this role will be to: 

    • Implement the engineering skills learning delivery system.
    • Plans and schedules engineering skills training processes
    • Conduct and evaluate legal refresher training.
    • Participate in the alignment of engineering standards

    This role is in the Human Resources department at a D1 level reporting to the  HRD Coordinator Electrical/ Learning Advisor Electrical

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum NQF Level 5 OD ETDP Higher Certificate.
    • NQF 6 Diploma in OD ETDP will be advantageous.
    • Engineering Trade Certificate.
    • Senior Foreman/Engineering Specialist Certificate will be advantageous.
    • Assessor and Moderator Certificate.
    • Certificate in Electrical Protection and Medium Voltage

    Knowledge, skills and experience required: 

    • 3 years Engineering experience of which 2 years as Foreman or Snr HRD Practitioner
    • 2 years experience in  Electrical Protection and Medium Voltage

    Operator Grade 2 Plant Operations

    Job Description:

    As an Operator Grade 2, you will be responsible to:

    • Perform inspections at fixed time intervals (day and night) as per the inspection guideline provided for the Sishen Tailings Facility
    • Report any deviations noted at the facility as per the guidelines provided
    • Note and record measurements at the TSF as prescribed by the operation manual
    • Move deposition points on the TSF in accordance with the operating philosophy of the facility.
    • Open and close valves as required by the deposition strategy
    • Stop and start clean water pumps as required by the operational requirement
    • Manage the water recovery system of the TSF; this will involve the movement and handling of penstock rings and the operation of the facility silt trap
    • Unblock blocked pipes where required
    • Clear mud to expose deposition pipes for repairs
    • Remove vegetation on the facility where required
    • Clean around pumps where required
    • Train on and operate earth moving equipment as part of developmental program
    • Adhere to all health and safety practices requirements and promote good housekeeping to ensure compliance and an environment where team members can deliver their outputs within a controlled risk environment.

    This role is in the Processing department in Plant Operations at a P6 level, reporting to the ShiftSupervisor

    Qualifications:

    You will need the following:

    • Grade 12 Certificate / N3 Technical Certificate
    • Preferably completed MQA level 2 Plant Learnership / Or Mining Learnership
    • Valid Driver’s License
    • Successful completion of Valid Dover: Minimum level 2+ required

    Experience:

    • Sound knowledge and experience of Plant processes.
