    Systems Specialist

    Reporting directly to the Automation Engineer, you will be responsible to managing all aspects of Venetia Underground Mine Automation Systems including the trackless Mobile Machinery on board and infrastructure systems and technologies, wireless telecommunication, software applications and interfaces to sub-systems such as machine and personnel location tracking and perimeter access control.

    Job Description
    You will also:

    • Install, configure, repair, inspect and commission hardware, software and telecommunication system components of a diverse technical nature.
    • Manage technical documentation and system configuration files
    • Upgrade TMM onboard- and Mine Automation Systems with new hardware and software to keep it up to date
    • Plan preventative and corrective maintenance tasks on TMM onboard- and Mine Automation Systems
    • Conduct routine maintenance and services on TMM onboard- and Mine Automation Systems
    • Report and document results after aforementioned actions have been completed
    • Guide colleagues in service methods and use of tools-of-the-trade
    • Share own subject matter expertise to enable colleagues to expand their knowledge
       

    Qualifications
    Education required:

    • Grade 12 certificate, or equivalent NQF level 4 qualification

    One of the following qualifications at NQF level 6:

    • National N Diploma Engineering Studies (preference Electrical/Light Current) (N4/N5/N6)
    • National Diploma Engineering: Electrical (preference Light Current/Mechatronics/Telecommunications)
    • National Diploma in Electronic/Mechanical (Mechatronics) Engineering (Field 006 - Manufacturing, Engineering and Technology or Field 012 - Physical Planning and Construction)

    The following will be advantageous:

    • Trade Certificate of Competence in one of the following trades:
       
      • Millwright (Electro-mechanical)
      • Mechatronics Technician
      • Instrument Mechanicia
      • Transportation Electrician (Auto Electrician)
      • Telecommunication Technician

    Experience required:

    • Minimum 5-7 years (post-graduation) continuous work experience in the engineering or mining industry of which a minimum of 3 years must have been in a supervisory capacity
    • Minimum 3 years practical experience in underground Mine Automation System maintenance and support at system technical level
    • Computer literate and proven understanding and experience with ICT/IIT systems, industrial automation and associated technologies and terminology

    Other requirements:

    • Be prepared to work Contops, odd shifts and standby as per the departmental requirements
    • Computer Literacy - MS Office Suite (Word/Excel/Power Point/Outlook)
    • Effective communication skills in English (written and verbal)
    • Valid EB/Code 08 Drivers License
    • Successfully obtain a Red Ticket (Medical Fitness certificate)
    • The post is dependent on the successful completion of the Company’s pre-employment protocol such as qualifications verification, relevant psychometric assessments and a clear security clearance

    You will also:

    • Ensure that legal, safety, environmental and hygiene standards are complied with and maintained
    • Interpret organizational requirements for the section, to compile and develop a risk log with appropriate mitigation solution
    • Implement policies and develop procedures to ensure adherence to Engineering and Operational standards
    • Allocate and manage the utilization of financial resources and value add to optimize engineering
    • Availability and life cycle management of equipment
    • Manage and co-ordinate teams and resources to execute maintenance and operational plans
    • Direct the development, motivation and utilization of human resources for the section
    • Ensure a competent knowledge base for continued success within area of responsibility
    • Coordinate the development, management and enhancement of maintenance strategies and plans
    • Develop appropriate engineering maintenance and project systems to support he strategic plans

    Qualifications
    Education required:

    • Grade 12 certificate, or equivalent NQF level 4 qualification
    • Bachelor’s or BTech degree or National Diploma in a discipline relevant to Mining Automation (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronic/Mechatronics Engineering)
    • Government Certificate of Competence (GCC - Mines and Work (Electrical or Mechanical)) will be advantageous

    Experience required:

    • Minimum 5 years’ work experience in the engineering or mining industry of which 2 years must have been in a management capacity
    • 3 years' practical experience at system management level of the installation and integration of underground TMM mining automation systems
    • 2- 3 year’s Project management experience

    Other requirements:

    • Professional registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Professional Engineer or Engineering Technologist will be advantageous
    • Computer Literacy - MS Office Suite (Word/Excel/Power Point/Outlook)
    • Effective communication skills in English (written and verbal)
    • Valid EB/Code 08 Drivers License
    • Successfully obtain a Red Ticket (Medical Fitness certificate)

    Engineering Specialist Non Production

    You will take on a range of different projects management tasks within the PMO Department

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Achievement of projects management plan
    • Assist the Projects Manager in developing an operational plan for the year to support the achievement of throughput objectives
    • Undertake to plan of project scheduling, the budget requirements according to the planned maintenance schedules verses operational targets
    • Liaise with the Projects Manager regarding daily, weekly and monthly progress to plan, budget and employees resources
    • Review operational plan and re-assign targets and objectives to subordinates
    • Regularly communicate progress of section against operational targets and objectives
    • Evaluate, monitor and provide continuous feedback to the section regarding the performance efficiencies, standards of the section labour, equipment, budget and process targets
    • Undertake to audit the satisfaction of the operational team to who the coordinator provides high level technical support
    • Oversee the quality of workmanship and conduct regular inspections around the section

    This role is in the Projects Management Department at a Band 6 Level reporting to the Projects Manager

    Qualifications

    • Grade 12 or equivalent
    • Degree or National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
    • GCC Mines and Works
    • A Trade qualifications will be advantageous
    • MS Projects/ Primavera

    To be successful, you will have the following experience:

    • 5 years experience in engineering field preferable in the mining of heavy industrial industry
    • Basic Computer Literate
    • Knowledge and understanding of legal and safety compliance of mine plans and schedules
    • Understand the full spectrum of MRM and liaison with other related disciplines (Survey, Geology, Rock Engineering, etc)
    • Understands the mining lifecycle, value chain and impact of mining activities on business and operational performance
    • Ability to drive the development of optimal mining plans that incorporate mining, geological, geotechnical metallurgical and economic information
    • Driver’s license code 08
    • If successful, you will be required to undergo a Medical Fitness Test

    Integrated Scheduler

    You will take on a range of different projects scheduling tasks within the PMO Department

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Develop integrated schedules to safely, efficiently and cost effectively meet short term production objectives
    • Provide technical expertise to project scheduling teams to ensure effective optimisation of mining operations, planning processes and capabilities
    • Identify and schedule all infrastructure requirements to execute projects plan
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant legal, environmental, occupational health and safety and risk management standards and best practices
    • Meet mining objectives and conform to Anglo mining standards, geotechnical, operational physical standards and asset management to ensure safe mining operations within legislative guidelines
    • Projects Schedule resource utilisation
    • Scheduling processes and capabilities aligned with operational targets

    This role is in the Project Management Department at a Band 6 Level reporting to the Project Manager
    Qualifications

    • BSc or BTech in Mining or Engineering
    • Formal Project Scheduling Qualification
    • MS Project/ Primavera

    To be successful, you will have the following experience:

    • 5 years Operational experience in Projects Scheduling
