    Contractor - Field Manager - Johannesburg

    • The Field Manager will provide Astron Energy visibility and oversight into the Branded Marketer clusters. The role will also provide on-the-ground support to the Branded Marketers and their retailers where agreed.
    • Work with and advise BM Retailers and Territory Managers (Business Consultants) to achieve SHEQ, Brand Operational Excellence Compliance on site.
    • Provide ESMs with any cluster insights and themes that require intervention or where opportunity exists.
    • This is a 12 month contract.

    Key Responsibilities include:

    • Provide business advisory support to retailers and BC’s within a BM cluster.
    • Work with the ESM and support teams to develop targeted aggressive growth initiatives for sites within the cluster and ensures consistent and disciplined execution of processes/procedures/programs/systems geared towards achieving business plan commitments.
    • Provide guidance, training and coaching to the BM cluster team.
    • Support all Retail strategic projects within the BM cluster e.g., rebranding, shop upgrades etc and assist in closing gaps.
    • Provide assurance that Astron Energy fuels are delivered and sold at BM sites within the cluster
    • Review wet-stock management and ensure compliance at BM sites and provide assurance that Astron Energy fuels are sold at BM sites within the cluster.
    • Recommend improvement opportunities based on clear understanding of local trading and competitive landscape  in order to lift the overall cluster performance.
    • Implement Stop-Work-Authority and report all non-compliant activities to be corrected.
    • Provide assurance of site compliance to Astron Energy’s Brand, Visual and Operational standards and raise awareness on gaps for closure.
    • Ensure that all actions are implemented and closed including after cluster visits and/or audits.
    • Provide assurance and validation on projects status to help monitor delivery and planning.
    • Accompany ESM during all BM cluster visits and ensure clear actions are captured, executed and closed on time .
    • Validate that all promotional activities are current and promotional brand standards are met.
    • Collaborate with the BM TM’s/BC’s to streamline visits where possible and align on activities.

    Professional Qualification and Certifications:

    • Sales and Marketing qualification

    Work Experience:

    • At least 5 years of field sales experience in the petroleum industry
    • Proven track record of Retail Sales & Operations business turnaround preferably in the petroleum industry
    • A valid driver’s license and availability to travel for periods of time
    • Knowledge and experience of Fuel and Retail convenience business both fuel and non-fuel retailing as well as SHEQ requirements at retail sites
    • Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics to drive sales growth

    Head of Operations & Chartering - Cape Town

    • The Head of Operations and Chartering leads is a “centre of expertise” deployed in service of the Optimisers.
    • The role works closely with the Optimsers and is responsible for managing the end-to-end physical movement of crude oil and refined products, ensuring efficient chartering, replenishment planning, and primary transportation. This role ensures operational excellence, cost efficiency, and alignment with EVCO’s enterprise value chain strategy while maintaining safety, compliance and regulatory obligations and mitigating risks in marine and inland logistics. Role works closely with London who charter vessels and ensuring local compliance and commercial entity approval.
    • Leads a “centre of expertise” with the resources deployed and taking daily direction from the Optimisers in service of executing the optimised plan in a “natural” team under direction of the Optimisers In conjunction with the Optimisers implement a scheduling optimisation strategy for shipping, scheduling, operations and marine bunkering to ensure optimal asset utilisation of assets (vessels, pipeline, tanks, rail and road tankers) whilst meeting customer service levels, minimising delays, demurrage and losses
    • Lead, manage and ensure activity cover as required in oil operations, maintaining a focus on safety, efficiency, reliability, losses and regulatory compliance. Local commercial accountability for Time and Spot Charter activities in support of the contract owner in London.
    • Train, develop, lead on succession planning and deploy Operations and Chartering people resource across in support of execution activities as required. This includes skills upliftment and mentoring to ensure expertise and continuity of operations.
    • Manage crude oil and refined product import/export operations, ensuring seamless execution and compliance with regulatory requirements Lead marine bunker business operations, optimising commercial and operational performance Coordinate and oversee chartering activities, including vessel selection, freight negotiations, and voyage execution to minimise costs, loss and risks

    Professional Qualifications & Certifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field.
    • Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) preferred.
    • Work Experience: 5+ years in a leadership role within supply, operations, trading, logistics, or chartering.
    • Experience in oil/petrochemical supply, scheduling, trading, or supply chain optimisation.
    • Prior experience in refinery operations, vessel chartering, or marine logistics is an advantage.

    Knowledge & Skills:

    • Deep understanding of Southern African market conditions, supply chain infrastructure, and logistics constraints.
    • Strong knowledge of oil operations, product qualities, and the economics of oil product movement.
    • Expertise in trading markets, price risk management, contract negotiations, and freight economics.
    • Experience in vessel chartering, freight negotiations, and marine logistics operations.
    • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate across departments
    • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills for decision-making and supply chain optimisation.
    • Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
    • Strong business reporting, commercial acumen, and financial and operational decision-making skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and logistics/supply planning software tools.
    • Ability to work under pressure, managing multiple priorities in a structured and strategic way.

    Territory Manager - Durban

    • Provide business advisory support service to a number of service stations throughout the Region. Assist site owners and retailers with customer relationship management, marketing, pricing strategies, brand building, business planning, maximising sales, driving turnover and profitability, the day-to-day running of the station, merchandising, inventory management, etc. Implement profitability improvements by identifying site growth opportunities, segment targeting and cost to serve analysis per customer.

    Key Responsibilities include:

    • Manage Retailer relationships and franchise excellence,
    • Deliver sales targets by driving profitable volume for revenue growth.
    • Ensure efficient sales operations and site excellence within assigned territories.
    • Devise sales strategies, analyze data, monitor competition, address Retailer concerns, and identify sales growth opportunities.
    • Understand and apply Retail economics.

    Financial Perspective

    • Develop and execute a clear business growth plan to ensure sustainable, above market performance of the respective network. Deliver optimum site operating contribution in line with the required financial returns, including gross margins and sales.

    Customer Perspective

    • Provide professional expertise and an enabling environment (consultancy, training etc.) for the retailers, supporting them to achieve their business objectives.
    • Responsible for providing Astron Energy with critical market intelligence to facilitate improved business processes and decision making
    • Own the development and successful implementation of a micro-marketing plan per site and adjust as necessary in order to grow market share at site level.
    • Working closely with the marketing support team to build a C-store network plan and execute against agreed milestones.

    Business Excellence

    • Monitor and drive the delivery of key performance indicators. Develop and implement appropriate measures to address issues that may compromise the delivery of business plans and KPI’s.
    • Drive compliance of HSSE standards and procedures at site level.
    • Play a key role in the selection, management and development of retailers.
    • Interact with retailers and business partners and provide expert knowledge and support to ensure operational excellence and application of operating and brand standards.
    • Work with all stakeholders to ensure that all initiatives are delivered as per plan for all sites in your network, and hold other accountable for their work.
    • Responsible for the ultimate and successful delivery of KPI’s including Safety, Financial, and Operational targets, including Customer First Scores, Customer Satisfaction and Image Stewardship
    • Implements and monitors Corporate OE safety standards and programs across the Retail Network (staff and customers).  Responsible for ensuring 100% compliance with the OE/HES Corporate standards and incorporates into daily execution guidelines.

    People Management

    • Provide guidance to Retail site owners nurturing and developing a culture of operational excellence and teamwork to ensure targets are met and exceeded.
    • Collaborate and maintain healthy relationships with key stakeholders to ensure successful support and delivery of business priorities.
    • Execute on the Transformation plan for Retail.

    Professional Qualification and Certifications:

    • Post Graduate qualification in Sales & Marketing, Commercial, business or related field.

    Work Experience:

    • At least 5 years of Retail Sales & Operations experience preferably in the petroleum industry, with proven track record of business turnaround through driving own initiatives.
    • Proven track record of increasing sales and revenue through developed sales strategies
    • Field sales experience is preferred.

    Knowledge and skills:

    • Knowledge of both fuel and non-fuel retailing.
    • Retail detail and site excellence knowledge
    • Retailer and customer relationship management
    • Good franchise excellence and CR Understanding
    • Good understanding of Retail economics and the RAS model
