Qualification, Experience and Competencies

• Minimum of 6 years’ experience as Caterpillar Genera Mechanic post apprenticeship or learner ship experience.
• Minimum off 4 years Caterpillar Component rebuild experience with substantial troubleshooting exposure (post Qualification)
• Well familiar with failure analysis and re-useability guidelines on components
• Experienced trouble shooting and problem-solving skills on Earthmoving Equipment Components.
• Well imbedded Component specific technical knowledge and skills.
• Familiar with Dyno and Hydraulic testbench operation and troubleshooting.
• Sound interpersonal and communication skills.
• Good technical report writing skills.
• Basic business and financial understanding.
• Computer literate and good business writing knowledge.
• Good and experiences on Caterpillar machine and product knowledge.
• Valid Driver’s License

Key Output

• Will be responsible for maintaining, servicing and repairs , Caterpillar GAS Powered Engines associated with Generators
• Repair of all faults that is identified during a service and maintenance
• Clean out plant rooms and panels if necessary
• Responsible for collection of parts at the store and compiling of parts for services and repairs
• A clear understanding of engine and panel control systems TEM and TPEM
• Musty be able to write accurate and detailed reports for customers
• Diagnose and repair faults with PLC systems
• Follow correct disposal process of old oils, filters and parts in workshop
• Attend to breakdowns within set timelines be available 24 hours for standby
• Must be presentable to customers at all times
• Will be responsible to drive a forklift and make use of an overhead crane when required in a safe manner
• Maintain a clean and organized workshop and workstation at all times
• Keeping service vehicle clean and tidy at all times
• Adhere to company policies at all times
• To meet growth in demand of gas engine sales and maintenance request from customers

Qualification, Experience and Competencies

• Must be a qualified Electrician/millwright or Diesel Mechanic
• Matric (Grade 12)
• Fluent in English (Read, write and speak)
• Computer Literate (MS Office)
• Valid Driver’s license Code 8
• Must have experience in generator systems and the operation thereof (Caterpillar or Other )
• Deepsea experience will be an advantage
• Must be punctual, trustworthy and be able to work unsupervised
• Must be willing to work overtime if required as well as underground from time to time
• Be prepared to travel and willing to sleep out if necessary
• Gas engine experience would be an advantage
• Power Generation systems and generator change over controls including PLC systems

Key Output

• Disassemble, inspect, evaluate, and assemble components to OEM standard.
• Compile accurate component analysis and reports
• Maintain professional image when representing BWE

• Compile component condition / failure reports and Safety Orientated
• Compile accurate customer machine analysis and reports including Machine Inspection Reports (MIR’s) and Technical Analysis Reports (TA’s)
• Maintain professional image when representing BWE ,Ensure safe work practice
• Control Contamination and own admin (labour booking, service reports, part returns, expenses etc.)
• Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained.

Qualification, Experience and Competencies

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Qualified in relevant trade (e.g. Diesel Mechanic / Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic) Red Seal
• Component specific technical knowledge and skills ,Sound interpersonal and communication skills
• Basic technical report writing ,business and financial understanding
• Computer Literacy (SIS, STW & ET) knowledge
• Opencast experience – minimum 5 years
• Applicable product knowledge
• Drivers licence – Code C1
• Understanding of supplier warranty systems, policies & procedures
• Experience on CAT drills will be an added advantage.
