A vacancy is available for a Chief Installation Supervisor Mechanical - Reporting to the Department Manager Automation and Site Management in Buhler (Pty) Ltd Johannesburg

Tasks

• Managing and leading a team of technicians required for the installation of medium projects. (type B projects) He is responsible for the planning, preparation, and execution of the installation supervision, within scope of work associated to the assigned project. Ensuring compliance with Bühler related directives and OHS standards
• Development of cost, time schedule and quality on the project
• Overall site and subcontract budget targets are achieved
• All parties to the project are able to make optimum decisions based on information furnished from site
• Customer satisfaction survey targets are achieved
• Compliance with processes, procedures, and tools
• Ensures that OHS goals are set and monitored
• Provision of experience feedback to other projects and functions
• The personnel assigned is fully acquainted with the site-specific rules, safety regulations and environmental protection measures and that they perform their work accordingly
• Perform installation according to the specifications and engineering documents, considering the safety instructions, environmental protection measures and local regulations
• All available tools and aids are utilized to achieve the goals of his/ her assignment and as well to strive for continuous plant improvements and cost reduction
• Timely call-up of Bühler specialist and further associated staff thru Site Manager or Project Manager
• Monitors progress of construction against the program and takes steps to ensure the pro-gram is achieved. Initiates as required mitigation/ preventive actions to achieve target pro-gram timely with the support of the Site Manager or Project Manager
• Ensure that the engineering department is involved in handling technical problems and decisions
• Conduct or attend daily and weekly meetings with Bühler staff and subcontractors, ensure that the Site Manager and the Project Manager receive regular information updates
• Keep a diary to record daily work, occurrences, problems, special information, etc. plus a list of pending items
• Provide technical experience feedback to Project Management and Project Execution departments during debriefing meeting
• Ensure correct behaviour and good teamwork within the installation and commissioning team in accordance with company policy and local requirements/ regulations
• Manage and lead the technician team to achieve and further improve the cost, schedule, quality and OHS targets
• If there is no Site Manager, he acts as prime point of contact for the project with the client and contractors on site, including
• Progress management, site organization, OHS, financial recommendations, quality control and design modifications
• Performance assessments of all member of staff reporting to him/ her are performed in accordance with current procedure
• Maintaining an intensive customer relationship and a high level of customer satisfaction
• Tracks any deviation in the scope of work in the Bühler CAQ system
• Liaise with the Project Management Office to establish, implement and maintain operating standards to ensure quality project results and customer satisfaction
• Capture return of experience and best practice, apply lessons learned to all templates

Required qualifications

• Higher technical education (Professional School / Technical College)
• Fluent in English
• Minimum 3 years of experience as Installation Engineer or proof of sufficient skills
• Technical and commercial knowledge covering multiple disciplines
• Proven ability to communicate effectively with site teams and motivate them to meet the project objectives

• Provide technical support to Sales, Customer Service, and the entire Project Execution department.

Required qualifications

• Minimum 1 years in a commercial processing facility or proof of sufficient skills.
• Willing to travel a great deal (approx. > 30%).

• Higher technological education.
• Fluent in English.
• Good knowledge of AutoCAD will be beneficial
