    Jnr Warehousing and Process Engineer (Re-advertised)

    Job Purpose    

    • Bidvest International Logistics is in the market for a Junior Warehouse and Processing Engineer to provide specialist warehouse support with regards to optimization efforts. You will need to assist the Supply Chain Solutions and Tender Teams in responding to RFI's and RFQ's, tenders and proposals. You will need to collaborate with the Tender Desk to ensure accurate, innovative solutions are put forward to client tenders. You will assist business in optimising internal processes and implementing best practice in warehousing operations whilst also assisting in developing and reviewing Quality Work Instructions. You will be required to provide internal data analysis support. Finally, to develop analytics, systems and data management capabilities, including metrics and reports.

    Qualifications & Experience    
    Qualifications:

    • Matric
    • Industrial Engineering Degree or equivalent   

    Experience:

    • 3 years experience working in the process and costing environment                    

    Key Responsibilities    
    Operations Procedures / Written Instructions

    • Attend work instruction scoping meetings
    • Review existing processes on a scheduled basis and collate all relevant documentation
    • Develop work instructions in conjunction with operations management
    • Assist operations management with the establishment of new facilities, as required
    • Assist operations management with the development of Facility Layout drawings, as required
    • Develop Operating Procedures in conjuction with operations management

    Standards

    • Assist operations management with the development of operating standards as required
    • Ensure that WMS operating standards are upheld
    • Drive continuous improvement 

    Job Observations

    • Develop a planned job observation schedule in conjunction with Facility Managers
    • Conduct planned job observations with operations management as per schedule
    • Provide operations management with detailed job observation report

    Audits

    • Conduct regular internal audits on operating standards and procedures
    • Provide operations management with audit results
    • Conduct regular audits on the correct application of the WMS

    Training

    • Assist with the development of a plan for the training on work instructions
    • Conduct training and provide Training Academy with all necessary documentation
    • Provide operations management  with a Training report
    • Develop a Competency Audit Schedule per facility
    • Conduct Competency Assessment as per schedule
    • Provide operations management with an assessment report
    • Assist with the development of a plan for the training on operating standards
    • Conduct training on operating standards and provide Training Academy with all the necessary documentation
    • Provide operations management with training report on operating standards

    Commercial / Warehousing

    • Identify operational deficiencies in the warehousing facilities
    • Collaborate with the Supply Chain Solutions and Tender Desk on Tenders and Continous improvement initiatives.
    • Support the analysis of the prospective client's needs and the proposal of appropriate warehousing solutions
    • Participate in the development of warehousing solutions for the company
    • Maintain in-depth knowledge of complete line of products/services and client business issues and needs
    • Analysing internal and external financial data for tender responses and commercial decision-making
    • Assist with client profitabilitycalculations  and Activity Based Costing exercises at facilities
    • Analysing internal and external financial data for commercial decision making
    • Assist the Supply Chain Solutions Engineer with Lean Six Sigma roll out within Warehousing
    • Support Supply Chain Solutions Engineer to drive Warehouse Optimisation objectives outlined in the Warehouse Optimisation Project Framework.
    • Support digitization efforts within warehousing to improve useability and visibility; with a strong focus on Warehouse Utilization and MHE Utilization

    Operations Manager

    Job Purpose    

    • Ensure that the service deliveries of all the operations are in accordance with the BidvestIL Standard Operating Procedures (QWI), pertaining to the Supply of excellent service to the client while maintaining a safe, efficient, compliant and profitable operation.

    Qualifications & Experience    
    Qualifications 

    • Grade 12
    • Diploma or equivalent in Logistics or Warehousing

    Experience 

    • 3 - 5 Years experience in warehouse management
    • Experience of managing teams within tight quality and efficiency parameters
    • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages and in particular, Excel and Office
    • Experience in Quality Systems
    • Experience in training/developing staff
    • Experience in employee relations
    • Experience in performance management systems and methods
    • Knowledge of CHEPP Process
    • Knowledge and understanding of dangerous goods handling and storage
    • Manage Bond Stores in compliance to SARS requirements

    • Knowledgeable in cost and productivity optimisation through process optimisation, as well as design and implementation of new operation procedures

    Security Specialist

    Job Purpose    

    • Bidvest International Logistics is recruiting for a Security Specialist, the preferred candidate will be responsible for the protection of the organization’s personal, and physical assets by identifying vulnerabilities, implementing proactive measures and responding to threats. Reducing risk to the organization by developing security policies, monitoring systems for potential breaches, conducting risk assessments and ensuring compliance with security standards to prevent unauthorized access, physical harm and theft.

    The role is not associated with that of a Security guard.

    Qualifications & Experience    

    • Matric/ Grade 12
    • Security Management Qualification (Will be an added advantage)
    • 5 Years Experience in similar field

    Key Responsibilities    
    Operations:

    • Ensure all Security certifications are up to date. (TAPA, SACAA Part 108, etc.) 
    • Formulating Air-Cargo Security Policy, within the framework of the CARS Regulation P108. 
    • Developing, disseminating, implementing and enforcing security standards and practices as set out in the security program, at all levels and in all areas of the company. 
    • Ensure applicable training of all personnel at all stations is according to SACAA, IATA and TAPA requirements.                            
    • The Security Specialist shall be the accountable person for registering and executing those projects that are required by statute, IATA, ICAO and operations that will lead to increased Aviation Security (Part 108). 
    • The employee shall be accountable for ensuring that operations are conducted in accordance with applicable regulations and standards.   
    • Responsible for the management of the 3rd party security service provider in respect of policies, procedures and manuals.
    • Disseminate non-sensitive aviation and other security literature throughout the operation, as necessary.
    • Executing special security measures during all periods of increased threat. 
    • In conjunction with management personnel, conduct risk assessments. 
    • Establish effective communication with the Regulatory Authorities to ensure timely notification of possible increased threat levels and institute special security measures in such cases.  
    • Be responsible for liaison with Government Departments, Regulatory Authorities and other operationally relevant external entities.                            
    • Collect, analyze and disseminate Security information and provide effective feedback to company management. 

    Execute regular inspections and audits to ensure that the security program is effective. This audit shall include:

    Document review:

    • Review of correct implementation of procedures. 
    • Quality control check on one or two specific security measures in terms of the correct, effective and efficient execution of a critical task.  
    • Ensure that any corrective action resulting from above findings is both implemented and effective. (Job Observations) 
    • Investigation of any reported misconduct, crime, threats or acts of unlawful interference against Bidvest International Logistics, its staff and/or property, in accordance with the relevant legislation.  
    • Arrange and co-ordinate polygraph tests when required.

    Training and SOP

    • Development of security procedures to ensure compliance with Security Protocols                            
    • Ensure that security responsibilities are clearly definedin SOP's                            
    • Ensure SOP's are valid and followed. (meet the intent of clients requirements)                            
    • Conduct full induction, SOP and site instructions on all new recruits. Training to be recorded specifying module, date and offcier attended                            
    • Conduct on site training with all Security Staff
