    Security Specialist

    Job Purpose    

    • Bidvest International Logistics is recruiting for a Security Specialist, the preferred candidate will be responsible for the protection of the organization’s personal, and physical assets by identifying vulnerabilities, implementing proactive measures and responding to threats. Reducing risk to the organization by developing security policies, monitoring systems for potential breaches, conducting risk assessments and ensuring compliance with security standards to prevent unauthorized access, physical harm and theft.

    The role is not associated with that of a Security guard.

    Qualifications & Experience    

    • Matric/ Grade 12
    • Security Management Qualification (Will be an added advantage)
    • 5 Years Experience in similar field

    Key Responsibilities    
    Operations:

    • Ensure all Security certifications are up to date. (TAPA, SACAA Part 108, etc.) 
    • Formulating Air-Cargo Security Policy, within the framework of the CARS Regulation P108. 
    • Developing, disseminating, implementing and enforcing security standards and practices as set out in the security program, at all levels and in all areas of the company. 
    • Ensure applicable training of all personnel at all stations is according to SACAA, IATA and TAPA requirements.                            
    • The Security Specialist shall be the accountable person for registering and executing those projects that are required by statute, IATA, ICAO and operations that will lead to increased Aviation Security (Part 108). 
    • The employee shall be accountable for ensuring that operations are conducted in accordance with applicable regulations and standards.   
    • Responsible for the management of the 3rd party security service provider in respect of policies, procedures and manuals.
    • Disseminate non-sensitive aviation and other security literature throughout the operation, as necessary.
    • Executing special security measures during all periods of increased threat. 
    • In conjunction with management personnel, conduct risk assessments. 
    • Establish effective communication with the Regulatory Authorities to ensure timely notification of possible increased threat levels and institute special security measures in such cases.  
    • Be responsible for liaison with Government Departments, Regulatory Authorities and other operationally relevant external entities.                            
    • Collect, analyze and disseminate Security information and provide effective feedback to company management. 

    Execute regular inspections and audits to ensure that the security program is effective. This audit shall include:

    Document review:

    • Review of correct implementation of procedures. 
    • Quality control check on one or two specific security measures in terms of the correct, effective and efficient execution of a critical task.  
    • Ensure that any corrective action resulting from above findings is both implemented and effective. (Job Observations) 
    • Investigation of any reported misconduct, crime, threats or acts of unlawful interference against Bidvest International Logistics, its staff and/or property, in accordance with the relevant legislation.  
    • Arrange and co-ordinate polygraph tests when required.

    Training and SOP

    • Development of security procedures to ensure compliance with Security Protocols                            
    • Ensure that security responsibilities are clearly definedin SOP's                            
    • Ensure SOP's are valid and followed. (meet the intent of clients requirements)                            
    • Conduct full induction, SOP and site instructions on all new recruits. Training to be recorded specifying module, date and offcier attended                            
    • Conduct on site training with all Security Staff

    • Ability work overtime as and when required      

    Knowledge:                     

    • Knowledge of SACAA CATS, Reg P108                            
    • Knowledge of Law enforcement, investigation and general aviation security experience                             
    • Knowledge of Quality assurance/Qualifty Controll for Audits                            
    • Knowledge of Security Protocals                            
    • Microsoft office suite (outlook, word, excel, powerpoint etc)
