    Operator Level 2

    Job Advert Summary    

    • BTT is currently recruiting for an Operator level 2 to join the Durban Operations Team reporting to the Team Leader, to ensure safe and efficient bulk storage operations on a shift basis and effective operations.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Grade 12 with Maths, Science & proficiency in English
    • Completed all Operator Level 2 competency modules
    • Minimum of 2 years’ BTT Operations experience
    • Code 8 Drivers Licence preferred

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Adhere to BTT policies and procedures in all aspects of operations & SHEQ
    • Report unsafe acts and conditions to the Team Leader on shift
    • Responsible for ensuring that all work is carried out safely and that employees adhere to PPE requirements
    • Ensure that all accidents/Incidents/CAR’s are reported
    • Co-ordinate and execute site and shipping activities in accordance with BTT procedures, work instructions and Logistics and planning schedule
    • Perform Vessel Entry inspection and confirmation of tank cleanliness before surveyor is in attendance
    • Perform and calculate stop dips and pumping rates accurately
    • Assess work areas and prepare permit to work
    • Activate heat systems, chillers and compressors in accordance with planned site activities
    • Prepare tanks, lines and equipment for operations as directed
    • Load and unload drums onto flat racks and containers as per drumming procedure
    • Responsible for the signing in and out of keys in accordance with the tank key control procedure
    • Manage the effluent and separator operations to ensure no environmental damage
    • Report losses and gains to the Team Leader on shift
    • Ensure that there is an effective handover between shifts to ensure operational continuity
    • Operate the weighbridges on site, by weighing all vehicles in / out of BTT
    • Complete the necessary check sheets ie) RTA
    • Document all stock movements in and out of the site (including drum loads)
    • Capture all drum and vehicle details onto SAP
    • Check the loading/ decanting instructions with the internal order
    • Capture tank heating, chilling and nitrogen data
    • Capture daily/weekly/monthly dips

    COMPETENCIES: (Knowledge, skills and abilities)

    • Available and willing to work shifts in accordance with the BTT Shift roster
    • Strong communication skills – both verbal and written
    • Knowledge of pumps and valves, operating procedures
    • Ability to work well within a team
    • Relevant BTT systems knowledge and experience
    • Physically fit in accordance with the man job spec

    Customs Clearing Coordinator

    Job Advert Summary    

    • Bidvest Tank Terminals has an opportunity for a Customs Clearing Coordinator. This opportunity exists within the Customs Clearing Department, based in Head Office, reporting to the Customs Clearing Supervisor. The candidate must meet the following minimum criteria.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Matric.
    • Customs Affairs Diploma or equivalent.
    • 4 years’ general experience in a Customs Clearing environment with good knowledge of Customs Affairs.
    • A good working knowledge of South African Customs Legislation.
    • Experience in Microsoft office.
    • Experience in Cargowise would be advantageous.
    • Experience in SAP would be advantageous.

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    Main purpose of the Job

    • To look after all the Customs Clearing needs of allocated clients and process import and export Bills of Entries as per customers specific requirements.

     The successful candidate will engage in the following activities:

    • Check Ex-Bond movements once received from the Stock Controller.
    • Framing and invoicing of Ex-Bond Bills of Entry (XIB, XRW, XGR, XIR, XDP).
    • Ensure that all XIB and XRW Ex-Bond Bills of Entry are acquitted.
    • Frame and invoice imports and exports movements timeously, correctly and efficiently as per customer instructions.
    • Ensure that all disbursements paid on behalf of the customer are invoiced.
    • Maintain and safe keep of rebate permits and inform client if permit is nearing expiry date.
    • Capturing of Cargo Dues.
    • Ensure that all import shipments have signed Customs Clearing Instructions duly signed by the actual customer.
    • Inform customer of any outstanding documents for their respective parcels and requesting of Original Bills of Lading for release of cargo from vessel agent.
    • Ensure that all documentation leaving the office fulfils all statutory and mandatory obligations imposed by the Department of Customs and Excise, Harbour Authorities, Shipping Lines, Clients and any other body who is legally entitled to do so.
    • Liaises with Clients, Transporters, Sites, TNPA (Transnet National Ports Authority), Shipping Lines and Ships Agents, regarding cargo release and advises clients of any delay or problems regarding shipments.
    • Ensure that any changes to TNPA/Customs legislation or increases in Cargo Dues/Duty and Vat etc. are allocated to the respective files for charging to client.
    • Ensures that all goods that are exported ex-warehouse via road or sea freight are duly acquitted.
    • Ensure that all export clearances have a commercial invoice & road manifest for customs purpose and specific instructions if a Certificate of Origin/EUR 1 or a SADC Certificate is needed.
    • Ensure that the Bonds Department receive copies of all Warehousing Bills of Entry and Vouchers of Correction to open Bond Pages.
