    Maintenance Storeman

    Job Advert Summary    

    • The Maintenance Storeman is responsible for the accurate receiving, safe storage, and controlled issuing of maintenance spares, tools, and consumables as required by the maintenance team. This role ensures that stock levels are properly maintained, records are accurate, and the store area is kept organised to support the Maintenance Systems Administrator and maintenance personnel. By providing reliable access to the right materials at the right time, the Maintenance Storeman helps reduce downtime, improve efficiency, and maintain compliance with safety and housekeeping standards

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Grade 12 (Matric) certification.
    • Experience: 1 – 2 years of general maintenance.
    • Types of communication (verbal, written, procedures, etc)
    • Required to operate machinery/equipment

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Receive and coordinate maintenance equipment and material: Control all deliveries by ensuring that all procedures for maintenance materials/parts are adhered to.
    • Verify and ensure the delivery items and delivery documentation correspond with the purchase order and ensure proper record keeping.
    • Ensure that offloading is done correctly as per ISO standards. Capture and allocate received items on the automated parts management program and ensure stock is correctly labelled and stored in the correct
    • Issue and control maintenance material from warehouse to maintenance staff: Ensure that all stock is continuously organised, identified (labelled) and stored in the correct and allocated shelves to ensure uniformity, easy access and control.
    • Ensure that warehouses are always locked unless under direct supervision.
    • Execute daily maintenance equipment/parts issue according to instructions from the Maintenance Systems Coordinator, Maintenance Foreman and/or Maintenance Manager.
    • Ensure that all stock issued for maintenance activities is properly recorded in the automated parts management system, and that any unused stock is promptly returned and fully reconciled
    • Stock take and control: Do daily, weekly and monthly stock counts and ensure all stock variances are reported, investigated and resolved.
    • Ensure that stock levels are reported to the Maintenance Systems Administrator to ensure timely replacement of stock.
    • Create and maintain a list of all slow-moving and redundant stock and report this monthly
    • Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, safe, and organised storeroom always.
    • Ensure that tools, equipment, and materials are stored in designated areas.
    • Ensure all parts, spares, and consumables are correctly labelled and shelved.
    • General Administration & Ad hoc tasks: Attend to ad hoc tasks as required from time to time
    • When needed, generate and close job cards for maintenance employees

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work.
    • Experience using tools and performing basic repairs.
    • Ability to identify and repair minor faults.
    • Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
    • Willing to work in a farm environment and perform overtime if required.
    • Team player with good attention to detail.
    • Experience on a Poultry Farm would be beneficial to the candidate.
    • Proficiency in English (Verbal & Written) is essential in this role. 
    • Shortlisted candidates may need to undergo a practical demonstration/test.

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Maintain company housekeeping standards daily according to site schedules.
    • Ensure workstations are clean, safe, and tools are properly stored after completing tasks.
    • Maintain the farm site in good mechanical working order, including buildings, machinery, and equipment.
    • Perform general fault finding and minor repairs on electrical and mechanical equipment (e.g., feeding systems).
    • Carry out basic maintenance tasks, including but not limited to:
    • Fixing chains and mechanical components
    • Welding and minor fabrication work
    • Repairing lights and electrical fittings
    • Repairing water leaks and minor plumbing
    • Replacing bearings, gearboxes, plugs, geyser elements, and motors
    • Knowledge of working with hand and power tools
    • Assist with troubleshooting and repairing ventilation, heating, and air-conditioning units.
    • Ensure all equipment is maintained and functioning properly to support production.
    • Work according to maintenance schedules and operational deadlines.
    • Adhere strictly to biosecurity procedures and farm operational standards.
    • Comply with Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) policies and regulations at all times.
    • Maintain attention to detail and safe work practices when performing tasks.
    • Be willing to work flexible hours, overtime, and weekends when required by operational needs.
