    Africa Sustainability Office Senior Consultant – Impact Everyday

    Job Description

    Volunteerism

    • Embed the firms Volunteerism policy in collaboration with the WorldClass team to achieve the target of impacting 14 million lives by 2030
    • Utilise technology solutions to support the implementation of policy
    • Support the annual Volunteer Day PMO
    • Reporting & compliance: Socio Economic Development reporting under the B-BBEE Code of Good Practice; internal and external assurance processes that are applicable
    • Monitoring and Evaluation: Providing reporting on a Monthly basis on volunteerism and pro-bono activities
    • Facilitating humanitarian support for any communities in need of material and logistical assistance through any disaster

    Chief Financial Officer - Audit and Assurance

    Job Description

    Main Purpose of Job

    • The CFO role falls under the Office of the Audit & Assurance (A&A) COO, which capacitates the Business Intelligence Function for A&A. Under this function, the CFO is responsible for curating and reporting meaningful, data-driven insights, trends, observations and findings, and making appropriate recommended solutions for improvement.

    Key Performance Areas

    Strategic Impact 

    • Gives significant input into the development of Service Line strategy in relation to the Finance function

    Identifying ongoing strategic insights from various sets of data and conceptualizing how those insights may improve:

    • Profitability
    • Efficiency
    • Monitoring
    • Quality and risk

    Development of the Finance strategy within A&A Africa through a detailed plan including:

    • Identification of change initiatives that support the Firm's and Service Line specific strategic objectives
    • Approval of team's implementation plans with timelines, actions and measures for success
    • People plan to deliver on set goals
    • Communication plan in terms of vision and delivery of strategy related to own Service Area
    • Defined reporting requirements for tracking of plans
    • Supports leadership in achievement of overall Firm’s strategic objectives
    • Works with A&A Africa EXCO team to deliver on the Africa EXCO mandate relating to the Finance function
    • Establishes and maintains external business relationships within area of expertise to collaborate on, share and implement best practice
    • Builds strong professional relationships across Deloitte Service Line leadership levels to understand varying needs of different areas

    Client Impact: External / Internal

    • Oversees delivery of the A&A Africa Finance team within the Service Line in close collaboration with other specialised areas across Service Lines
    • Acts as sounding board to teams on business decisions and direction as needed
    • Develops thought leadership within area of expertise and shares knowledge through internal/external presentations, and to team for delivery improvement

    Operational Effectiveness

    • Maintains high level oversight of all change initiatives, implementation of projects, quality and timeliness of team delivery
    • Provides teams with expert advice, direction and recognition
    • Provides own Service Line leadership with status of delivery across the business for reporting purposes
    • Oversees risk issues within area of responsibility and address non-compliance as a matter of urgency

    Development/Growth of Team

    • Mentors and develops managerial Service Area team members
    • Acts as counsellor to Senior Manager/ Manager employees within Service Line ensuring effective coaching and guidance in development and career growth (May act as counsellor to employees from other Service Lines)
    • Develops effective relationships with key talent and ensure they are well supported in their career growth
    • Empowers existing senior managers / managers through effective delegation
    • Provides consistent recognition and encouragement to teams and leads by example
    • Demonstrates commitment to transformation agenda of the firm

    Budgets / Profitability

    • Ensures annual budget is put together by the Finance BP in line with Service Line targets and margins
    • Manages Service Area budget ensuring no overruns and approving overall expenses and costs
    • Proactively identify 12 and medium term budget considerations to enhance overall profitability

    Financial Management

    • Driving target achievement for the A&A Africa Service Line
    • Driving overall Financial Performance of the business: KPIs, North Stars etc.
    • Ensuring effective WC management + interventions to manage down
    • Ensuring Financial health of the A&A business and projects
    • Drives financial disciplines in Project Accounting
    • Reviews pricing of contracts and projects
    • Plays critical role in aligning Finance Governance & processes across the Service Line
    • Strict adherence to monthly and year end accounting procedures and reporting
    • Identifying unexpected transactions and exceptions and speedy resolution of those
    • Driving stock standard budgeting cycles and run of the mill firm reporting cycles
    • Driving the budgeting and forecasting process through the Finance BP team by facilitating target setting. Also to review and approve the consolidated budgets/forecasts for A&A Africa
    • Oversight of the A&A finance BP team with strict adherence to reporting deadlines and an improvement in business support in terms of the resolution of queries from the business
    • Maintain high level oversight and final sign-off– especially wrt high risk balances and coordinate the process in order to ensure that recons are completed timeously and at appropriate level of quality.
    • Performance evaluations and career guidance to the finance team

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    • CA (SA)

    Minimum Experience

    • 12+ years’ working experience within the Finance function, Experience and significant proficiency with SAP4HANA, Blackline, SAC, AFO and BI
    • A minimum of 4+ years in a senior management role within a Finance function
