    Public Relations and Events Specialist

    Job Description

    • Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Public Relations and Events Specialist to manage public relations activities, media engagements, stakeholder communications, and corporate events. The successful candidate will be responsible for strengthening brand reputation, enhancing stakeholder relationships, supporting executive profiling, and delivering impactful communication and event initiatives.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Develop and implement public relations strategies to enhance corporate profile and reputation.

    Manage media relations, media queries, interviews, and media monitoring.

    • Draft media releases, speeches, briefing notes, talking points, and communication content.
    • Coordinate executive profiling and thought leadership opportunities.
    • Support crisis communication activities.
    • Plan and execute corporate events, conferences, stakeholder engagements, and sponsorship activations.
    • Manage event logistics, suppliers, budgets, and project plans.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in public relations, corporate communications, and event management.
    • Experience managing media engagements, executive profiling, and corporate events.
    • Experience managing communication suppliers and service providers.
    • Experience within a corporate, public sector, government, or development environment will be advantageous.

    Project Manager – Information Governance & Digital Transformation - 2-year FTC

    • An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Project Manager to lead strategic information governance and digital transformation initiatives within a highly regulated environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering complex projects focused on information management, electronic records management, compliance and enterprise content management while ensuring alignment with governance frameworks and project management best practices.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead end-to-end project delivery from planning through to implementation and close-out.
    • Develop and execute project plans, manage timelines, budgets, resources and project governance.
    • Manage project risks, issues, dependencies and reporting to ensure successful delivery.
    • Drive the implementation of enterprise information governance and electronic records management initiatives.
    • Lead Microsoft SharePoint Online and document management implementation projects.

    Manager: Corporate Affairs

    ABOUT THE ROLE

    • The Manager: Corporate Affairs will lead the PSSPF’s stakeholder engagement, communications, marketing and ESG reporting functions. This is a visible, senior role requiring a confident communications professional who is comfortable operating in a regulated, public-sector environment with active media exposure. The role requires someone who can build and protect the PSSPF’s reputational profile while communicating complex financial and regulatory matters clearly to a broad stakeholder base.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Relevant degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in corporate communications, stakeholder management or public affairs
    • Demonstrated experience in media relations and managing reputational matters in a public-sector or regulated environment
    • Experience in the retirement funds, financial services or public sector industry preferred
    • Proven ability to communicate complex regulatory or financial matters clearly to diverse audiences
    • Working knowledge of ESG reporting and responsible investment communication advantageous
    • Strong written communication skills with experience drafting public statements, member communications and Board reports

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop and implement the PSSPF’s stakeholder engagement and communications strategy
    • Manage media relations, public statements and the PSSPF’s reputational profile

    Manager: Compliance

    ABOUT THE ROLE

    • The Manager: Compliance is responsible for maintaining and developing the PSSPF’s existing compliance framework, ensuring full and ongoing adherence to applicable legislation and regulatory requirements. The role operates independently of the PSSPF’s operational functions and carries direct access to senior management and the Board of Trustees. The successful candidate will be the PSSPF’s primary interface with the FSCA and other regulatory bodies.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Relevant degree in Law, Commerce or a related field
    • Certified Compliance Professional (CCP) or equivalent qualification from a recognised South African compliance institution - hard requirement
    • Minimum 5 years’ compliance experience within the retirement funds or broader financial services industry
    • Sound knowledge of the Pension Funds Act, the Financial Sector Regulation Act (FSRA), FAIS, FICA and applicable retirement fund legislation
    • Proven ability to develop, implement and maintain compliance frameworks and risk management plans
    • Experience preparing and presenting compliance reports to a Board or sub-committee
    • AML/FICA experience advantageous

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Maintain, implement and develop the PSSPF’s compliance framework and compliance risk management plan
    • Monitor regulatory developments and report on their impact to senior management and the Board

    Deputy Principal Officer / Chief Operating Officer

    ABOUT THE ROLE

    • The Deputy Principal Officer / Chief Operating Officer is a senior leadership role responsible for the overall day-to-day operational management of the PSSPF. The successful candidate will report directly to the Principal Executive Officer and will act in the PEO’s capacity during periods of absence. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the PSSPF operates in full compliance with applicable legislation while delivering on its strategic objectives and member service commitments.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Relevant postgraduate qualification (NQF 8 or above) in Finance, Business Management, Law or a related field
    • Minimum 10 years’ experience within the retirement funds industry — this is a hard minimum requirement
    • Proven track record in retirement fund governance, administration, operations and regulatory compliance
    • Demonstrated leadership and people management capability at a senior level
    • Sound knowledge of the Pension Funds Act, the Financial Sector Regulation Act and applicable retirement fund legislation
    • Experience engaging with the FSCA and other regulatory bodies
    • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provide strategic operational leadership across all functional areas of the PSSPF
    • Act as Principal Executive Officer in the PEO’s absence
    • Oversee fund administration, financial management, compliance and member service delivery
    • Drive operational efficiency, risk management and service delivery standards
    • Provide strategic input to the Board of Trustees and relevant sub-committees

    Manager: Finance & Administration

    ABOUT THE ROLE

    • The Manager: Finance & Administration is a broad, hands-on role responsible for the full financial management, administrative and human resources function of the PSSPF. The successful candidate will oversee financial reporting, budgeting, payroll oversight, statutory compliance and HR administration, and will work closely with external specialist consultants and the PSSPF administrator.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Relevant degree in Finance or Accounting; professional membership (SAIPA, SAICA or CIMA)advantageous
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a financial management role within a regulated environment
    • Experience in the retirement funds or financial services industry preferred
    • Experience managing an HR function or HR administration
    • Demonstrated experience overseeing external payroll and finance service providers
    • Sound knowledge of pension fund legislation, financial reporting standards and statutory compliance requirements
    • Familiarity with SARS submissions, audit preparation and fund administration processes

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Manage the full financial function: budgeting, financial reporting, cashflow management and audit preparation
    • Oversee the performance of the PSSPF administrator and monitor financial and investment reporting
    • Manage payroll oversight and the relationship with the external payroll provider
    • Serve as the primary HR function: employee relations, HR compliance, policy implementation and recruitment support
    • Ensure full compliance with SARS obligations, statutory reporting requirements and applicable legislation
    • Manage procurement processes and facilities administration
    • Provide financial management reports to the Principal Executive Officer and Board

    Manager: Legal & Governance

    ABOUT THE ROLE

    • The Manager: Legal & Governance will provide comprehensive legal advisory and governance support to the PSSPF. The role encompasses contract management, regulatory engagement, litigation oversight and ownership of the member complaints function. Candidates should note that the PSSPF currently has active litigation matters. The successful candidate will work closely with the Board of Trustees and sub-committees and will serve as the PSSPF’s primary legal authority.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • LLB degree — hard requirement
    • Admitted attorney or advocate — hard requirement
    • Minimum 5 years’ post-admission experience, with preference given to candidates with retirement fund or financial services sector experience
    • Sound knowledge of the Pension Funds Act, the Financial Sector Regulation Act and retirement fund governance frameworks
    • Proven experience in managing litigation matters and instructing and managing external legal counsel
    • Strong drafting, negotiation and legal advisory skills
    • Experience engaging with the FSCA, the FST and other regulatory bodies

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provide legal opinions, draft and review contracts and agreements, and manage legal risk across the organisation
    • Oversee and manage all active and emerging litigation matters and relationships with external legal counsel
    • Own and manage the member complaints function in full compliance with the Pension Funds Act and FSCA requirements
    • Support the Board of Trustees and all sub-committees on legal, regulatory and governance matters
    • Ensure the PSSPF’s governance framework remains current, robust and compliant
    • Liaise with the FSCA, FST and other regulatory bodies as required
