• Relevant tertiary qualification, preferably a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Technology as well as relevant managerial experience.
• Computer Literate.
• Valid C1 drivers’ licence.
• 12 years relevant experience of which 6 years as a senior officer.

Duties:

• Communicating with the Chief Fire Officer on specific Key Performance Areas (Fire Services - Operational and Fire Safety) with a view to aligning functions and service delivery against the capacity and capability of the Section.
• Analysing service delivery trends and capacity against requirements and submit reports supporting specific provisions for consideration during the preparation of capital and operational expenditure estimates to support plans and objectives.
• Defining/ adjusting the role boundaries, workflow processes and job design against laid down service delivery requirements.
• Determining staffing levels and preparing motivations for the filling of vacancies to complement functional objectives and requirements.
• Ensure the establishment of a professional and efficient Control Room Centre to provide an adequate communications framework to support operational and administration duties.
• Analysing and evaluating requirements associated with specific investigations arising out of complaints received from the Public with respect to unauthorised burning etc.
• Co-ordinates and monitor sequences associated with the provision of a Fire Service by implementing specific procedures during fire and rescue operations, overseeing firefighting teams and executing applications or sequences to control damage/ disaster. 
• Preparing investigational and productivity reports referring to statistical data and qualitative information related to service delivery initiatives of the Section for the attention of the Chief Fire Officer, for consideration and inclusion into Council and Sub Committee reports.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Firefighter 1 course, completed at an accredited firefighting training institution
• Hazmat Awareness course, completed at an accredited firefighting training institution
• First Aid Level 3 course, completed at a registered first aid training institution
• Provide a valid police clearance or proof of payment of the police clearance.
• Speak at least two of the three (3) official languages of the Western Cape.
• Unemployed and not registered on any other Learnership, Internship and/or WIL Programme.
• Must reside within the Garden Route District.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

• Certified copy of Identity Document.
• Proof of police clearance or proof of payment.
• Proof of Firefighter 1, Hazmat Awareness, and First Aid Level 3 completed courses.
