 Responsibilities

• Operate and control grout batching systems to ensure proper mix ratios.
• Monitor production processes and make necessary adjustments to maintain product quality.
• Conduct routine equipment checks and report any mechanical issues.
• Maintain detailed batch records, production logs, and quality control documentation.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with plant operators and supervisors to optimize efficiency.
• Manage inventory levels of raw materials and coordinate replenishments as needed.
• Manage and maintain in area of responsibility following mine standards, procedures and practices
• Adhere to MHSA standards & Gold1’s safety motto: “Nothing is so important that it cannot be done safely”

• Technical knowledge of grout mixing, pumping, and related machinery

• Monitor and adjust machine settings to ensure proper grout consistency and flow.
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of grout equipment

• Conduct quality control checks on grout mixtures and adjust as necessary
• Maintain records of production, material usage, and equipment performance.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operation of the plant.

Minimum requirements

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

• Grade 11 or equivalent NQF level 4
• Trade Certificate / Technical Diploma / Project Management Certificate
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel)
• Good English written and verbal communication skills
• Valid Driver’s License and own vehicle
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Grout Plant Supervisor would be advantageous
• Experience compiling risk assessments and safe working procedures
• Experience conducting planned inspections
• Sound knowledge of Grout Plant operations, equipment, and methods

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:

• Effective supervision of the underground and surface Grout Plant crews
• Effective planning, leading, organising, and controlling within the area of responsibility to achieve daily production, quality, and safety targets
• Cost containment through effective budget management and efficient target achievement
• Accurate and timely reporting
• Effective stakeholder engagement to ensure smooth workflows and target achievement
• Efficient achievement of production and quality targets in line with DMR and project scope
• Proactive risk identification and mitigation in alignment with legal regulations, standards, procedures, and policies
• Effective self and team management in alignment with values and leadership initiatives
• Self and team understand and comply with legal regulations and standards, procedures, policies, and safety protocols

Qualifying Criteria:

• Grade 11 or equivalent NQF qualifications.
• Code 08 / 10 driver’s license.
• MQA Competency B Certificate: Relevant qualifications, courses, and operating licenses.
• Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in a trackless mining environment.
• Proficient in English and any other of the 11 official languages.
• Must be a legal South African citizen.
• Clear Criminal Record.
• Declared medically fit for the position by our OHP

 Responsibilities:

• Work a cycle or rotation of shifts
• Responsible for operating the Manitou
• Assist with and monitor preventative and breakdown maintenance during shift (fill up fuel, oil, lubrication, etc.)
• Be observant / vigilant when operating the Manitou carrying / or transporting equipment, assisting in installation of pipes (vent and water pipes etc.) and other related duties that are performed at heights
• Verify level of the machine using specified levels
• Ensure that the machine is in good operating order and report any faults and inconsistencies to Supervisor and Control Room
• Always take instructions from the Supervisor responsible for the area / workplace
• Manage and maintain in area of responsibility in accordance with mine standards, procedures and practices
