    Gauge Specialist

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide central governance and technical oversight for plant gauging systems, ensuring standards, procedures, calibration requirements and best practices are consistently applied.
    • Support plant teams with troubleshooting, performance issues, measurement accuracy, process capability and technical risk mitigation.
    • Manage and coordinate gauging-related improvement and CAPEX projects, including scope definition, specifications, supplier engagement, commissioning and handover.
    • Maintain gauging standards, SOPs, checklists, internal procedures and documentation to support consistent execution across the plant.
    • Oversee radiation-related gauging requirements, including licensing, inspections, audits, leak tests, records, procedures, safety training and compliance support.
    • Champion a safety-first culture by ensuring SHE compliance, conducting inspections and proactively managing risks to people and equipment.
    • Coordinate corrective actions, technical input and lessons learnt with Central Engineering, production, maintenance, instrumentation, suppliers and other stakeholders.
    • Coach and support artisans and operators to build capability in gauging and instrumentation.

    Requirements

    Minimum Requirements

    • Degree or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation or a related technical field.
    • Experience in gauging systems, instrumentation, process control, manufacturing operations, calibration practices and technical troubleshooting.
    • Experience in project coordination, technical specifications, commissioning, supplier engagement or plant improvement projects will be advantageous.
    • Knowledge of radiation safety systems, statutory compliance and equipment health monitoring will be advantageous.
    • Strong planning, communication, stakeholder engagement, technical judgement and follow-through skills.

    Financial Reporting Manager

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead the statutory monthly, interim and annual financial reporting processes.
    • Prepare and review consolidated financial statements in accordance with IFRS and JSE reporting requirements.
    • Manage the Group consolidation process and reporting timetable.
    • Provide technical accounting leadership, including IFRS 2, IFRS 9, IFRS 15 and IFRS 16.
    • Oversee statutory reporting requirements.
    • Support budgeting and forecasting processes
    • Build strong relationships with auditors and lead the resolution of audit findings.
    • Develop, coach and lead a high-performing Financial Reporting team.
    • Drive continuous improvement of financial reporting systems, controls and governance.

    Requirements

    Minimum Requirements

    • CA(SA) qualification and registration with SAICA or equivalent
    • 3–5 years' post-articles financial reporting experience, preferably within a JSE-listed or manufacturing environment.
    • Proven experience in financial statement preparation, monthly financial reporting and IFRS compliance.
    • Previous leadership experience within a finance function.
    • Strong technical accounting knowledge and analytical capability.
    • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and leadership skills.
    • Ability to deliver accurate results in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

    Rolling Oil Specialist

    Description

    Rolling Oil Performance Management

    • Develop and implement rolling oil management strategies across all rolling operations.
    • Establish lubricant performance standards, specifications and operating windows.
    • Monitor oil health, contamination and degradation trends.
    • Implement predictive monitoring systems to proactively prevent process disruptions.
    • Drive improvements in oil formulation enhancements to support equipment reliability and operational performance.

    Process Control Leadership

    • Serve as the technical owner of rolling oil-related Process Control Variables (PCVs).
    • Establish target operating ranges and control limits.
    • Monitor critical process parameters and identify deviations.
    • Develop statistical process control (SPC) methodologies.
    • Conduct capability analysis and trend performance indicators.
    • Implement early warning systems and corrective actions.
    • Integrate lubricant performance data with production performance metrics.

    Supplier and Technology Management

    • Lead supplier qualification and performance management activities.
    • Evaluate and introduce new lubricant technologies.
    • Manage mill trials and change management processes.
    • Develop strategic partnerships with technology providers.
    • Identify alternative suppliers to mitigate supply risks.

    Quality, Compliance and Customer Support

    • Ensure compliance with customer, regulatory and environmental requirements.
    • Maintain compliance systems for food contact, REACH, RoHS and related regulations.
    • Provide technical support to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Support audits and customer technical enquiries.

    Continuous Improvement and Sustainability

    • Lead lubrication optimisation projects.
    • Improve oil recovery and recycling initiatives.
    • Reduce lubricant consumption and operational costs.
    • Support environmental sustainability objectives.
    • Drive data-driven decision making across operations.

    Requirements

    • Qualifications: is a BSc in Chemistry, Honours, MSc or PHD Chemistry will be an advantage. Lubrication Engineer/Organic chemist. Skills in metal rolling or rolling tribology preferrable..
    • Experience: +10yrs Process Manufacturing Experience/ Metal Rolling with be preferable. Expert in rolling oil analytical testing techniques such as FTIR, GC, Gum tester and Surface evolution understanding. Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to use tools such as Minitab, SPC and structured problem-solving tools (e.g., 5Why, DMAIC, Fault Tree etc.)
    • Industry background to be able to cope with the requirements of the job: Metal Working Fluids Chemist, Petroleum and Oil Refineries.
