Primary purpose of the job:

• To supervise team and ensure optimal tool manufacturing and maintenance as per company requirement.

Key Performance Areas include but are not limited to:

• Supervise team members
• Effective shop floor planning & tool readiness for production
• Supervise team members to ensure optimal production output
• Effective shop floor planning – Tool PM, CM & toll readiness
• Complete all tool manufacture / repair documentation accurately and Timeously
• Ensure that all quality specifications and quality management systems are always adhered to

Knowledge and Skills required:

• Understanding of Technical tooling concepts
• Production planning process to ensure smooth production
• Quality specifications and systems with respect to customer requirements.
• Discipline and grievance procedure
• Goal setting of toolmakers

Minimum Requirements                                                                                                     

• NQF Level 4 Diploma/ NQF 5 Certificate 
• Qualified Tool, jig and Die Maker Supervisory skills
• Minimum 5 years tool making experience in the automotive manufacturing environment

Primary purpose of the job

• To take primary responsibility and accountability for managing Press Part Manufacturing in all its facets, including the required plant support functions, to ensure that customer requirements are fulfilled through cost-effective resource utilisation, adherence to schedules, and quality standards.

Key Performance Areas

• Take overall responsibility for the operational management of Plant 2 as a satellite plant to Plant 1.
• Manage all production functions to ensure that targets are met in accordance with safety, quality, and production requirements.
• Manage all support functions to ensure that safety, quality, production, and cost targets are achieved.
• Drive relevant shop-floor management routines that are key success factors in a press shop.
• Ensure that adequate resources are available.
• Manage the performance of subordinates.

Required Technical Knowledge

• Management of Press Shop and Assembly
• Performance Targets
• Management of staff
• Productivity improvements
• Product improvement initiatives

Minimum Requirements

• National Diploma in Operations Management, Technology Management, Engineering, or Production Management
• Minimum of 5 years’ quality background within the automotive industry
• Minimum of 10 years’ Press Shop experience, including relevant press technology for car body surface and structural components (High-tonnage mechanical presses)
• Minimum of 10 years’ supervisory experience in the Tier 1 automotive industry
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in tool and jig manufacturing or maintenance
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in engaging and managing a very demanding OEM customer
• Knowledge of new project management, particularly regarding tool approval and commissioning processes
• Demonstrated experience in all of the core operational roles (Planning, Logistics, Quality, Production, Maintenance, Process Engineering)
• A lean mindset with key focus on efficiency improvements
• Must have management an org. structure that consists of multi-tiers, across shifts.
