    Manager: Emergency Preparedness & Response - Centurion

    • Provide management and leadership to the Emergency Preparedness and Response team in delivering key operational and specialized services related to internal and external stakeholders in the area of preparedness and response to nuclear and radiological emergencies.

    Requirements

    • NQF level 8 qualification in Natural Sciences, Physics, Chemistry
    • Minimum of 10 years regulatory or nuclear industry experience
    • Minimum of 7 years working experience in emergency preparedness and response 
    • Minimum of 3 years management or supervisory experience
    • Management qualification course will be an added advantage

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Manage and control the operations, processes, and innovations of the emergency preparedness and response unit
    • Manage emergency preparedness and response review and assessment of authorization holders emergency plans and submissions in accordance with in-depth comprehension of established legal, regulatory and organisational documents
    • Apply effective supervisory approaches to ensure that throughput, quality and thoroughness of all emergency preparedness and response assessments meet required standards
    • Develop and utilise tools and processes, such as databases and computer codes to support review and assessment and verification processes
    • Provide input in the development and review of regulatory documents and regulatory improvement nuclear projects
    • Ensure that outputs from projects are in-depth and fit-for-purpose
    • Proactively establish which international standards on safety are applicable to the NNR and identify which aspects of safety standards should be strengthened for the NNR Standards
    • Provide input in the development of the operational and strategic goals of the department
    • Coordinate regulatory and internal emergency exercises
    • Conduct of Emergency Preparedness and Response inspections when required
    • Maintain the Regulatory Emergency Response Centre readiness and arrangements
    • Represent the NNR in the global arena through active and meaningful participation
    • Participate in internal and external stakeholder engagements related to emergency preparedness and response
    • Ensure effective people, performance, project, budget, and skills management in the emergency preparedness and response unit
    • Provide a management role over the performance and development of all levels of employees

    Principal Inspector: NORM - Centurion

    • To undertake/implement compliance assurance activities and enforcement actions at authorised facilities and activities.

    Requirements

    • NQF level 8 in Physics/Chemistry/Environmental Management or BEng in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering,
    • Minimum 10 years' experience in a relevant regulatory work, operations or inspections

    Knowledge of the following:

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Conducts inspections and monitor implementation of corrective actions.

    • Collects environmental samples and review environmental monitoring reports from Authorisation Holders.
    • Perform Investigations and radiological confirmatory surveys.
    • Respond to events (occurrence, incidents, and accidents) as reported at authorised and unauthorised facilities.
    • Implement and /or recommend enforcement actions as appropriate.
    • Monitor performance trends against safety indicators in assigned areas or facilities and develop trends reports.
    • Prepare reports on work undertaken.

    Strategy and Performance Practitioner - Centurion

    • This role will be reporting to Manager Strategy and Organisational Performance (Manager: SOP) which is under the office of the CEO. The role has a key responsibility to implement process and procedures for strategic planning, monitoring, and reporting performance and assist in the development of the organisational strategic plans, annual performance plans and operational plans. The incumbent is expected to be a self-motivated worker, agile and able to interact with executive, management and employees in order to deliver of job expectations. Knowledge of basic strategic management and performance reporting concepts and tools is a requirement and ability to address groups and teams of employees on work planning issues is an expectation.  

    Requirements

    • NQF level 7 in Business Administration/Management or Public Administration/Management
    • Minimum of 5 years relevant working experience
    • Knowledge and basic understanding of relevant and applicable legislation including but not limited to:
      • Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)
      • Revised Framework for Strategic Plans and Annual Performance Plans
      • National Treasury Regulations
      • Framework for Managing Programme Performance Information

     Duties and responsibilities

    Planning

    • Assist in the development of the organisational Strategic Plans, Annual Performance Plans and Operational Plans according to the relevant Frameworks and Guidelines
    • Ensure dissemination of plans to relevant stakeholders as per compliance schedule

    Performance monitoring and reporting:

    • Compile Quarterly and Annual Organisational Performance reports, Bi-annual and annual departmental AOPs report as well as mid- term/ end term Strategic Plan assessments reports.
    • Ensure dissemination of organisational performance reports to relevant stakeholders as per compliance schedule
    • Contribute to the printing and publication of organisational plans and performance reports
    • Lead initiatives to improve planning and performance reporting.

    Management of Performance Information

    • Manage performance information (Portfolio of Evidence) for audit purposes.
    • Ensure accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability of performance information.
    • Update internal and external performance information dashboards (eQPRS and NNR internal dashboard)

    Monitoring and evaluation systems

    • Development/maintain institutional planning, monitoring and evaluation frameworks and systems

    Audit process

    • Work with internal and external auditors to implement audits
    • Prepare and submit performance information for internal and external audits (audit ready reports and PoE)
    • Addressing audit findings and implement audit outcomes recommendations
