PURPOSE / DETAILS OF THE JOB

To analyse & evaluate suppliers' tooling pricing quotes, identify cost reduction opportunities and identify countermeasures for cost improvement according to Nissan methodology with the Buyer. Establish gap closure activities with buyer, supplier & global Vendor Tooling function where necessary

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

• Min: Diploma - Engineering (Industrial/Mechanical/Tooling or equivalent)
• Min: 3- 5 years’ experience - manufacturing production/process experience/ cost engineering
• 3-5 Years Tool design engineering/management
• 3-5 Years Project management experience
• 3-5 Years Purchasing management

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

Estimation & Quote analysis

• Establish cost budget according to design & specifications in conjunction with A3A
• Analyse & validate supplier tooling quotation
• Verify design & specification against supplier quote
• Identify gap closure activities between estimation and quote
• Involve and liaise with NML H2P for gap closure activity

BCAS Validation

• Supports buyer with BCAS (Budget Cost Adjustment Sheet) process as final gap closure measure
• Liaise with H2P team & RCM (Regional Cost Manager) in validation of BCAS
• Supports Buyer to obtain H2P & Engineer approval of BCAS

Sourcing Progress - Monitoring & reporting

• Track cost performance
• Liaise with PPM & NSA buyer on progress report
• Issue Report to NML CM (Cost Manager) to report Sourcing from VT point of view

Tool progress Tracking (New sourcing & refurbishments)

• Shop floor visits to validate tooling progress prior to stage payments being made.
• Allocate asset numbers and tags to identify tooling
• Validate that the scope of work is in line with the PO that was issued
• Compile an asset register per supplier and vehicle model
• Compile a tool acceptance report (TAR) for each stage tool / Mould within the line up

Tool Disposals

• Scrapping document to be approved via DOA
• Receive clear from P&A prior to scrapping
• Request an offer from a scrap merchant and supplier to submit an offer from their side as well

Tool Refurbishments / Breakdowns

• Determine the reason for breakdown (Tool fault or operator fault)
• Verify shots made exceed agreed tool life prior to agreeing to refurbish.

Procurement of all related support and service functions and materials, whilst always creating a reliable economic source and cost savings. This role requires integration of multiple stake holder needs, thus making it critical that negotiation skills and ability to work cross-functionally forms part of the skill set of the incumbent.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

• Min: Diploma (Purchasing/Supply chain management/Logistics management)                                        
• Ideal: Degree: Contractual/Cost/Project Management
• 2+ years manufacturing production/process experience; Costing experience
• 2-3 Years Project management Experience
• 3- 5 Years Automotive industry related to purchasing
