The Role

Ovations Technologies specializes in providing comprehensive business improvement solutions to customers and has an exciting opportunity for a Cloud Engineer who can seamlessly mesh tech know-how with business acumen to help us navigate all our cloud computing needs, including infrastructure design, maintenance, support and planning, and everything in between. Not only are you experienced in cloud-based tech, but you have a firm grasp of IaaS technologies, platforms and applications, and have intimate knowledge of how best to customize these attributes to our business to help us become more secure and efficient. Not only can you help us connect the dots and evolve our cloud capabilities over time, but you’re also evolving your own capabilities as an engineer and keeping an eye on developments that can support our expansion—and help us implement those, too.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering; Master’s degree a plus.
• Certification as an AWS Solutions Architect, Cloud Security Certification, and/or OpenStack Administrator Certification a plus. (Other cloud-related certification also a plus.)
• Five years’ experience in developing software using languages such as Java, Python, C++ or Ruby.
• Experience with SOA applications and cloud-based services, preferably AWS.
• Experience working with OpenStack, Linux/UNIX, Rackspace, Docker and Microsoft Azure.
• Three to five years’ experience in a Cloud Engineer role or related position.
• Knowledge of web services, API, REST and RPC.
• Strong awareness of networking and internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP and distributed networks.
• Database experience, including knowledge of SQL and NoSQL, and related data stores such as Postgres.
• Extensive experience with open-source technology, software development and system engineering.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to stay focused on completing tasks and meeting goals within a busy workspace.
• Interest in Cloud Engineering and its impact on greater business practices.
• Skilled at working in tandem with a team of engineers, or alone as required.

The Role

Ovations Technologies specializes in providing comprehensive business improvement solutions to customers and has an exciting opportunity for a Big Data Developer/ Hadoop / Linux, Hadoop, automate ingestion. The roles require experience with both Hadoop and Kafka. This will involve building and supporting a real-time streaming platform utilized by the clients' data engineering community.

• Development and deployment of data applications
• Design & Implementation of infrastructure tooling and work on horizontal frameworks and libraries
• Creation of data ingestion pipelines between legacy data warehouses and the big data stack
• Automation of application back-end workflows
• Building and maintaining backend services created by multiple services framework
• Maintain and enhance applications backed by Big Data computation applications
• Background in computer science, engineering, physics, mathematics or equivalent
• Worked on Big Data platforms (Vanilla Hadoop, Cloudera or Hortonworks)
• Preferred: Experience with Scala or other functional languages (Haskell, Clojure, Kotlin, Clean)
• Preferred: Experience with some of the following: Apache Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Pig, Oozie, ZooKeeper, MongoDB, CouchbaseDB, Impala, Kudu, Linux, Bash, version control tools, continuous integration tools
