    Dayshift Supervisor (Blending & Primary Processes)

    SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDED BUT NOT LIMITED TO :

    • Support the Process Foreman with the management of the Smelter airlock and ensure adherence accordance to safety, security and radiation requirements.
    • Ensure that the Arc furnace charges are correctly fluxed and blended and delivered to the Arc furnace at the correct specification as per the charge design to mitigate the risk of the Arc furnace running out of feed materials.
    • Be accountable for the performance of the blending team and all bag, ITM pre and post sampling management.
    • Responsible to ensure that the SHEQ policy, risk, quality and housekeeping standards are always adhered to.  This will require that all risks within the Primary circuit operations is mitigated to meet performance targets.
    • All protocols are followed to eliminate metal inefficiencies and risks downstream of the process.  Metal accounting, stock verifications, labelling, materials stored in correct SLOCs and ensuring that all stock is controlled to minimise metal losses and taking part in monthly, quarterly and annual stock takes.
    • Ensure that fluxes are blended to the accuracy of the blending recipes.
    • Ensure calibration of belt weighers, weightometers and load cells. Silo levels and spillages are to be accounted for.
    • Responsible for reporting of non-conformances.
    • People management in line with the HR and SHEQ policies.
    • Accountable for the housekeeping, consumable, waste and airlock management and movement in and out of Smelter.
    • Supports the safe management of Smelter rubble, waste and incineration of bulk waste from Smelter. 
    • The Dayshift Supervisor will work normal business hours but might be required to assist with the shift operations when required.

    Requirements

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Completed Matric qualification.
    • A diploma in Chemical or  Metallurgical qualification or related qualification.
    • Must have completed supervisory training.
    • Minimum of 6 -8 years working experience in production and/or smelting operations.

    Control Room Co-ordinator

    SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDED BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Ensures maximum throughputs across the arc furnace and BBOC plants to achieve the smelter financial year targets.
    • Ensure that all faults are reported to the maintenance department on time to minimise downtimes.
    • Ensure that all job cards are completed and that the work is scheduled to staff accordingly.
    • Ensures that the lead drossing and 2t Induction furnaces achieve the production targets and quality requirements.
    • Provides adequate troubleshooting within Arc Furnace and BBOC through checking SCADA parameters.
    • Drives timeous and accurate reporting through production logs and performance feedback on shift basis.
    • Ensures that all by-products generated are weighed and sent for sampling for metal balance purposes.
    • Supervise and ensure that daily furnace production targets are achieved.
    • Ensure that production reports are completed swiftly for the furnaces and submitted to the foreman.
    • Supervise the running of the furnace by checking the temperature, flow meters, AF utilization and problem solving where required.
    • Implement methods and suggestions from the process leader (i.e. waste reduction, productivity, cost management).
    • Ensure that there is full compliance with the SHEQ procedures for people and equipment and product.

    Requirements

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

    • Completed Matric qualification.
    • A diploma in Chemical or Metallurgy Engineering qualification will be an added advantage.
    • At least 5 years working experience in a smelting operational environment.

    Operator: Smelter Sampling

    SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDED BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Ensure the quality sampling of material are within the required time frame in accordance with established SOPs.
    • Perform essential administrative duties, capturing and processing of sampling data (LIMS).
    • Communicate operational information; production, equipment availability, SHEQ and general notices to peers and supervisors.
    • Continuously assess operational risks and implement approved corrective actions.
    • Equipment utilization.
    • Compliance to security protocols.
    • Compliance to Metal Assurance policies.
    • Supporting SHEQ initiatives.
    • Compliance to IT policies and ERP (LIMS) systems.

    Requirements

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Completed Matric qualification.
    • At 1 year's experience in a similar environment.
