    Advisor : Business Improvement

    We are looking for an Advisor: Business Improvement to provide support, training and coaching in the embedding of business improvement initiatives and Lean culture. Participates in six sigma breakthrough projects for a division, site or function.

    Reporting to the Principal Advisor: Operations Excellence and working in a collaborative community within the Business Improvement team, you will:

    • Support the operational team, in designated areas, with identifying, planning, and implementing process improvements that enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve overall efficiency.
    • Assist in the development and deployment of business improvement method and tools, in line with the organization’s vision of becoming The Best Operator.
    • Participate and lead audits of Rio Tinto Safe Production System best practices, improvement/LEAN adoption across the business.
    • Interface with various departments on Information Centers, 5S boards, and other business improvement activities.
    • Support compliance with standardise processes, systems, and tools.
    • Identify opportunities for improvement projects and support/develop effective project scopes.
    • Develop and maintain effective relationships with leaders and employees.
    • Provide technical support to project stakeholders.
    • Deliver training for business improvement tools and methodologies using training standards and material.

    Technician: Industrial Electronics

    We are looking for a Technician: Industrial Electronics, to service, install and commission Industrial Electronic/Power Electronic equipment toward ensuring optimal safety, reliability and availability.

    Reporting to the Industrial Electronics Superintendent, your responsibilities will include:

    • Maintenance, fault finding and repair of Power Electronic equipment like Variable Speed Drives ranging from 0.75kW to 1.8MW, connected to supply voltages from 400Vac to 690Vac. Some equipment is installed in remote areas and requires skills like heavy lifting/loading and maneuvering of power modules.
    • Fault finding and repair on complex VSD applications like Master/Follower and Crane applications.
    • Fault finding and repair on Fieldbus control systems like Devicenet, Profibus and Industrial Ethernet.
    • Fault finding and repair on thyristor and Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) systems.
    • Good hand eye coordination with the ability to perform physical activities for prolong periods (dismantling, repair and assembly of bus bars, modules, large fuses, contactors etc).
    • Good computer skills to program, analyse (fault find) and backup equipment specific software parameters.

    What you’ll bring

    • S4 or T3 National Diploma in Electrical Engineering
    • 3 years in fault-finding experience related to Industrial Electronic / Variable Speed Drive/Uninterruptable Power Supply and Thyristor control systems.
    • Experience in ABB ACS600/ACS800/ACS880 (advantageous)
    • Experience in Siemens Masterdrive/Sinamics G150 (advantageous).
    • Licenses/Certifications: Light motor vehicle (Code B)

    Electrical Technician

    About the role

    We are looking for an Electrical Technician to maintain, develop and provide a specialized service in respect of high voltage electrical systems, specific protection relay settings and electrical energy.

    Reporting to the Technologist, you will:

    • Plan, control and support Contractors toward ensuring task execution is according to high standards of quality.
    • Investigate and report on HV protection trips, quality of electrical supply or metering queries.
    • Technician: Metering – Conduct quality supply audits and report to Eskom and Line Management.
    • For Technician: Metering – Execute and assist with project-related work in terms of protection and metering relays.
    • For Technician: P & S- Maintain and update the company’s electrical modeling tool.
    • Perform fair and reasonable tasks related to the job and working environment, at the discretion of the Technologist.
    • Ensure data integrity daily for accurate month-end billing and cost reallocations.
    • Investigate and resolve all month-end billing queries.

    About you

    To succeed in this role, you will have:

    • Diploma / N6 / S4 in Electrical Engineering
    • South African driver’s License
    • ECSA Registration with PR status (advantageous)
    • 3 years post qualifying experience (in electrical protection & metering) within a high voltage environment.
    • Sound knowledge of testing of protection, high voltage equipment and metering systems
    • Experience in performing of plant audits.

    Officer: Buy ( 12 Months Fixed – Term Contract)

    • We are looking for an Officer: Buy, to conduct transactional purchasing activities for the low value / leverage and or routine Goods and Services required by the Rio Tinto African managed Assets.
    • Purchasing activities are conducted in accordance with Rio Tinto global standards and Rio Tinto Procurement policies and procedures.

    Reporting to the Superintendent: Buy -Africa, you will:

    • Research, select and purchase quality products and materials and or services.
    • Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate with them for the best value.
    • Process requisitions (PRs) and update management on status of PRs.
    • Update warehousing team and other departments on progress
    • Actively drive automation of transactional procurement through identifying fixed term pricing opportunities.
    • Identify suppliers for regular feedback and management i.e. high-volume line items suppliers, critical suppliers, high value spend suppliers and suppliers requiring support to improve performance.
    • Maintain effective supplier relationships with key suppliers to ensure effective continuity of supply.
    • Contribute to ongoing service effectiveness through good supplier management by contributing to the selection of the best internal and external providers.

    What you’ll bring

    • Matric and relevant Supply Chain or Procurement Diploma.
    • Degree and or CIPS qualification in Supply chain or Procurement will be advantageous.
    • 3 – 7 years’ experience in purchasing within the mining and or manufacturing and or heavy industry and or production industry preferably services.
    • Must be fluent in French and be able to read and write in French, in addition to English.
    • Experience working with SAP material management.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
