    Senior Data Scientist Gauteng/Western Cape

    What will you do?

    This role is accountable for rendering data and analytics-based support within MWL to enhance operational effectiveness/innovation, enable better sales and solve business problems.  Key responsibilities are:

    • Manage the leads pipeline
    • Render technical support with selected investigations and data analytics
    • Provide input into business plans/projects
    • Provide data/analytics support and solutions
    • Manage client profiles and segmentations
    • Ensure data governance and integrity
    • Stakeholder management
    • People management

    What will make you successful in this role?

    Qualification & experience:

    •     Related qualification in data science/quantitative analysis preferable (maths and statistics)
    •     Relevant accreditations in tools, applications (i.e.:  Python, R, SQL, etc)
    •     Management diploma (preferable)
    •     3-5 years’ experience within a data analytics environment


    Knowledge and skills
    IT:

    •     MS: Excel, Word, PP, Outlook, Access
    •     Pandas (Python), R
    •     Standard Data storage reading/writing: SQL, flat files including CSV
    •     GLM and Machine learning techniques
    •     BI and Big Data tools would be an advantage: Hadoop, MapReduce, Hive, Pig, Data streaming 

     

    Business:

    •     Sound financial services industry knowledge 
    •     A business operating model and strategy
    •     Digital and alternative distribution operations (including call centres)
    •     Relevant regulatory legislation and compliance knowledge

    HFM Reporting Analyst: Group Financial Reporting

    What will make you successful in this role?

    • Review, evaluate and implement critical and complex financial close and consolidation processes 

    • Interpret & drive development requirements 

    • Compile the business specifications from an accounting perspective to Oracle Hyperion EPM application suite.

    • Responsible for maintaining the existing Oracle Hyperion EPM application suite and supporting Sanlam and Santam through partnerships with business stakeholders and the application infrastructure team.

    • Responsible for maintaining the existing Oracle Hyperion EPM application suite

    • Assist businesses with reconciling/investigating results within HFM

    • Assist Group financial reporting teams (Management information/IFRS/regulatory)

    • Perform other duties as assigned and participate in special projects 

    Qualification and Experience

    • CTA or equivalent + completed CA training contract in financial services with HFM experience OR

    • Newly qualified CA(SA) with HFM experience OR

    • Bcomm Accounting with HFM experience

    • Experience with Visual Basic (VB) Script in order to understand business rule script or significant experience with business rule script would be to advantance.

    • Familiar with foreign exchange calculations and translations.

    • Experience with consolidation and reporting using HFM with a detailed understanding of the dimensions within HFM.

    • Experience with advanced HFM data query analysis

    • Must be able to perform under pressure

    • Must have knowledge of / exposure to accounting and financial reports and systems

    • Must have knowledge of advanced accounting principles and financial reports as well as systems analysis and design methodologies

    • Business Intelligence

    • Excellent computer skills with a working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Project, Visio and/or SQL

    • Familiarity with SmartView Add-In tools for planning and reporting
