    Tax & Customs Manager Sub-Saharan Africa

    Role Headline

    • The Tax Manager role covers Siemens’ tax and customs matters in South Africa and designated Sub-Saharan African countries, including legal entities, branches, permanent establishments, and cross-border project activities. The incumbent is responsible for the design, roll out and ongoing optimization of a 'One Tax Function' covering all Siemens’ activities within Sub-Saharan Africa.
    • The Tax Manager role collaborates with, and is supported by, Siemens internal tax experts and external tax advisers.

    Responsibilities of the Role

    • Management of Tax / Customs Compliance and Reporting for Siemens in Sub-Saharan Africa: Ensure compliance with tax / customs laws and complete, correct and timely submission of all Tax / Customs Returns as well as payment of taxes / duties. Responsible for complete, correct and timely tax reporting to Siemens AG.
    • Provide oversight of customs and trade-related tax matters, including import/export compliance, customs valuation, tariff classification, rules of origin, duty optimization, documentation, customs audits, and coordination with logistics and supply-chain teams.
    • Effective Tax Risk Management: Identify, assess and proactively manage the tax governance across jurisdictions with differing levels of regulatory maturity. Lead responses to tax audits and assessments, disputes, objections and litigation.
    • Review, manage and optimize Siemens’ effective tax rate, tax liabilities and receivables, deferred tax and tax losses where applicable.
    • Strategic Planning and Optimization: Provide appropriate planning to create value within an agreed risk framework and to ensure Siemens business can be conducted efficiently and effectively whilst being fully compliant with tax and customs laws. Manage and optimize tax and customs advice for Business and M&A (investments and disposals) including cross-border activities.
    • Leadership: Lead and manage the Sub-Saharan Africa Tax & Customs team including budget responsibility, performance management, support and guidance, personnel training and development. Develop the assigned team through training, clear guidance and development and implementation of standardized processes.
    • Stakeholder & External Management: Manage external advisors to ensure cost‑effective, high‑quality support. Engage with regulators, auditors, and advisors with credibility and authority. Represent tax and customs matters at regional governance forums as required.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Tertiary Qualification in Law, Finance or Accounting with a specialization / focus on Tax
    • Profound knowledge in Tax of South Africa and experience in Sub-Saharan Africa countries (e.g. Kenya, Ghana, Tanzania) comprising direct, indirect and international tax matters, which has been developed in a tax advisory firm or in-house tax function.
    • 10+ years' working experience covering tax advisory, tax compliance and tax reporting aspects.

    Field Service Engineer Varian BU - Cape Town

    The Field Service Engineer HW (FSE Hardware) is the primary contact for Varian Medical Systems (VMS) customer service and repair needs ensuring that our customers’ equipment always operates efficiently. The FSE is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, installing, upgrading and performing preventative maintenance on all designated VMS equipment according to instructions and company guidelines, each FSE operates in a designated field service territory and represents VMS, this role will be based in the Johannesburg area, with some travel to other distributor-based countries handled by Varian's Field Service Team in Africa.

    Your tasks and responsibilities:

    • Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair all designated VMS equipment within an assigned service territory, including preventative maintenance, installations and upgrades per VMS guidelines.
    • Manage time and maintain a schedule to include preventative maintenance, installations and upgrades as well as incoming customer calls demonstrating the ability to assess and prioritize the urgency of customer requests and follow-through to completion.
    • Understand and recognize the need to escalate incidents when necessary and/or request additional assistance from more tenured representatives.
    • Examine difficult customer issues, diagnose and resolve the issues and meet established FSR levels.
    • Maintain effective territory management and expense control which includes timely completion and submission of field service and expense reports along with management of consignment and other required documentation according VMS procedures.
    • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships using strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • An overall understanding of customer care and experience management essential

    Your qualifications and experience:

    • Medical Device experience is preferable
    • Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering, test equipment used for verification/checkout and calibration of electronic equipment.
    • Limited use and/or application of technical documentation, standards, principles, concepts, and techniques in the field.
    • Basic computer usage and debugging skills
    • Fundamental knowledge of delivery system networks and networking techniques.
    • Basic understanding of imaging systems
    • Capable of performing routine maintenance such as follow ups, PMIs and minor STBs
    • Basic accelerator theory knowledge.

    Other Skills:

    • BSC; BTech; BEng - in Electrical Engineering is essential
    • Be able to interpret customer concerns and translate to machine issue.
    • Understand and utilize the escalation process to Senior FSE, Management, NTS, PSE, Applications Required Certifications and Training
    • Excellent fluency in English, verbal and written, required, Fluency in other languages would be a plus but not mandatory.
    • Software and computer skills are required
    • Familiar with business tools such as: E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired.
    • Willingness to travel for business as required
    • Contributes to team efficiency through the quality of personal work and by influencing teammate output to required standards.
    • Must understand team collaboration and have effective networking skills.
    • Able to work independently within guidelines and policies and adhere to the corporate policies and procedures.

    Technical Services Engineer CT - Gauteng

    Your tasks and responsibilities:

    Your qualifications and experience:

    • You have completed vocational training in a technical field, preferably in medical technology or electrical engineering.
    • You have many years of professional experience in the field of service/installation for computed tomography, thus possessing very solid CT knowledge
    • Ideally, you have already worked in an international environment

    Your attributes and skills:

    • You have excellent communication skills and are fluent in English; additional knowledge in additional languages is a plus
    • You approach customer issues in a structured and proactive manner, and you can maintain an overview in case of multiple support requests and of prioritizing accordingly
