    Manager: Senior Legal Advisor (P6)

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    • To provide comprehensive legal support and guidance to the university administration in managing legal matters, mitigating risks, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies. This position oversees legal affairs, managing legal risks, and promoting legal integrity across all institutional activities. This position manages a team of legal specialists.

    • Legal risk management, compliance and litigation oversight
    • Institutional legal advisory and commercial support

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Honour’s degree in Law (LLB)
    • 6 years minimum experience in the higher education sector as Legal Advisor
    • Experience in practicing law, with significant experience in higher education, corporate law, or public sector legal affairs
    • Knowledge of South African law, including constitutional law, administrative law, labor law, and commercial law

     MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Doctoral Degree in Human Movement Sciences, Sport Science, Exercise Science, Biokenitics, or a closely related field
    • At least 7 years’ experience in higher education
    • Extensive undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research experience
    • A track record of international and national accredited research publications commensurate with the academic rank of Associate Professor
    • Postgraduate supervision experience including successful Masters and/or Doctoral supervision commensurate with the academic rank of Associate Professor
    • Evidence of successful external fundraising for research.
    • Some standing as a scholar in a chosen area of research (e.g., NRF rating, keynote addresses/ plenary lectures).

    • A record of accredited research publications commensurate with the academic rank of Senior Lecturer
    • Postgraduate supervision experience including successful Masters/Doctoral supervision, commensurate with the academic rank of Senior Lecturer

    • A qualification in the assessment of learning at NQF Level 7/8, or an equivalent teaching qualification.
