    Accountant - Free State Oil (Pty) Ltd, Head Office Reitz

    Job Description

    • The accountant will be responsible for capturing and reporting on hedge positions, as well as the costing of inventory of Free State Oil.

    Requirements

    • BCom Degree with Accountancy.
    • Completed articles (SAIPA and/ or SAICA).
    • Applicable experience in a fast-moving environment.
    • Experience in similar position will be advantageous.
    • Ability to function independently within team context and to accept responsibility.
    • Strong analytical, numeracy and interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent computer skills and the ability to work with Excel on an advanced level.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Capturing of daily trades on the hedge file.
    • Checking and capturing of daily hedge admin orders.
    • Matching of hedge trades and updating Market to market prices daily.
    • Ensuring that all hedge related entries are done according to IFRS.
    • Monthly analysing and reporting on hedging and inventory to management.
    • Monthly stock counts, and review of inventory reconciliations.
    • Monitor and manage cash flow within the budget.
    • Cost management and inventory control
    • Compile audit file on hedging and inventory.
    • Review and approve journals and EFT’s on a daily basis.
    • Perform reconciliations of trial balance accounts on a monthly basis.
    • Implementing & monitoring internal controls
    • Ensuring that the relevant operational and financial information is reported accurately and timeously.
    • Continuously liaising with internal departments, auditors, clients, and suppliers with regards to relevant transactions and services

    SHEQ Compliance Officer - VKB Health and Safety, Head Office Reitz

    Job Description

    • The VKB Group has been committed to implementing all systems and measures to ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation, contractor compliance and Environmental requirements. Due to the VKB Group portfolio we are looking for a candidate that can join the SHEQ team as a SHEQ Compliance Officer. The functions of this position will be to ensure the compliance of all contractors, to establish the Environmental management within the VKB Group and to implement and establish Health and Safety systems for our external clients. We are looking for an individual that is driven and will pursue this endeavor with the team.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Grade 12/ NQF 4
    • Certificates needed - NOSA SAMTRAC, ISO 14000, ISO 45000 (ISO 22000, FSSC 22000. Will be a benefit)
    • At least 6 years’ proven experience in the safety field (agriculture environment will be advantageous).
    • Lead Auditors courses and auditing experience will be an advantage.
    • National diploma in Safety Management will be advantageous.
    • At least 4 years’ experience in ISO 14000, ISO 45000. ISO 9001 standards and certified systems.

    Key responsibilities of this role

    • Audit compliance of all contractors working on projects within the VKB Group
    • Audit compliance of all network contractors working at VKB Operations
    • Setup and maintain a contractor’s audit program.
    • Be an integral part of providing and conducting audits and consulting services for external clients.
    • Setup and manage the VKB Group Environmental management systems.

    Knowledge

    Thorough knowledge of relevant local Health and Safety and Environmental legislation:

    • OHSACT
    • COID ACT
    • National Environmental Management Act
    • ISO 14000
    • ISO 45000
    • Very strong working knowledge of auditing of contractors
    • Working knowledge of Risk Assessments
    • Working knowledge of Health and Safety systems.
    • A working knowledge of local OHSAct requirements.

    Job Description

    • The Crush Trader position is situated at VKB’s Head Office in Reitz and will be responsible for managing the raw material margin of Free State Oil, by contributing to the formulation of the margin management strategy and executing the strategy by trading the physical as well as derivative components for soya beans, soya bean meal, soya bean oil and forex.

    Requirements

    • Grade 12/ NQF4.
    • Relevant Degree in B.Sc. or B.Com.: Risk Management or Economics or Actuarial sciences or Mathematics or other relevant subjects will be advantageous.
    • At least 5 year’s proven experience in the grain and oilseeds trading market is required.
    • Oilseed, protein, and vegetable oil experience will serve as recommendation.
    • Agricultural Products Market Dealers Exam is required.
    • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel is required.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Assist Free State Oil Management to reach budgeted goals on raw material margin, sales, and procurement.
    • Daily trading of SAFEX, CBOT, YieldX, FEC and other OTC instruments as well as physical commodities.
    • Trading strategy formulation, presentation, and execution within set mandates.
    • Daily relevant trade administration, position management and reporting.
    • Comply with VKB and Free State Oil Risk management policy.
    • Assist Management in the execution of the Business Strategy within policy guidelines; specific to margin hedging, sales, stock, and logistics, but not limited to this.
    • Assist in daily cashflow management through margin management, stock, and sales.
    • Continuous liaison with suppliers, customers, and internal departments with regards to relevant transactions, product standards and quality.
    • Grow Free State Oil’s customer and supplier base in line to company strategy.
