    Mid-Weight Draughtman

    Job Purpose:

    • The Mid-weight Draughtsman is responsible for preparing accurate 3D models, detailed shop drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOM) to support efficient furniture production.
    • The role requires strong technical skills in CAD software, a good understanding of manufacturing processes, and the ability to translate design concepts into production-ready documentation.
    • This position also involves collaboration with production teams and cross-departmental leadership to ensure the smooth execution of projects from concept to completion. The Mid-Weight Draughtsman will report to the Technical Manager.

    Key Accountabilities:

    Technical Design & Drawing Accuracy (Core Responsibility)

    • Convert concept designs into detailed, accurate technical drawings and 3D models, ensuring designs are production-ready.
    • Prepare comprehensive design packs and Bills of Materials (BOMs), ensuring all components are correctly specified and aligned with material and cost requirements.
    • Evaluate and recommend suitable materials, fittings, and joinery methods for new and existing designs, balancing practicality, quality, and production feasibility.

    Prototype Support & Production Alignment

    • Brief approved designs to in-house WFCF and WFCU teams for prototyping.
    • Drive and oversee the prototyping process, ensuring alignment with design intent, production feasibility, and quality standards.
    • Work hands-on with production and machine operators to troubleshoot and refine prototypes, ensuring designs are translated effectively into physical products.

    Drawing & Technical Data Management

    • Develop and maintain a digital library of technical drawings across all furniture ranges, ensuring version control and accessibility for production teams.
    • Maintain updates to drawings and BOMs following design revisions or material changes.

    Collaboration & Process Contribution

    • Collaborate with designers, technical managers, and production teams to ensure smooth workflow, feasibility, and timely project completion.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing practical insights from prototyping and production feedback.

     Technical Skills:

    • 5–10 years of relevant experience in technical furniture design, preferably across solid timber and wood-based materials.
    • A formal qualification in Drafting, Industrial Design, or a related field (3-year diploma or higher).
    • Excellent technical drawing skills and proficiency in Solid Works and Fusion (or similar CAD software).
    • Practical understanding of woodworking techniques, joinery methods, and manufacturing processes.
    • Experience working with CNC machines or programming is advantageous.
    • Proven ability to manage time, meet deadlines, and drive projects from concept through to production.
    • Comfortable communicating with both creative teams and factory staff.
    • A self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
    • A valid driver’s license and reliable transport are required.

    Role overview:

    • As a Sales Consultant, you’ll deliver exceptional service to all Weylandts customers. You’ll use your strong communication and networking skills to build meaningful customer relationships and drive sales.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Customer Experience:

    • Deliver exceptional customer service
    • Understand customers’ needs and provide tailored solutions
    • Communicate care instructions and product details
    • Maintain showroom standards and ensure that all items are priced and displayed correctly
    • Stay compliant with all required training in line with company policy

    Sales and Business Development:

    Consistently meet and exceed monthly and YTD –

    • Cash Collected (Net of VAT), and
    • Discount Target
    • Identify and pursue new sales opportunities through a variety of innovative methods

    Operational Excellence:

    Ensure that processes detailed below are executed efficiently and as per company policy

    • Sales Orders
    • Account Management
    • SR Management / Resolution
    • Stock take
    • Studio Referral
    • Decorator / Partner Program

    What you bring:

    • Grade 12/ Matric
    • Relevant diploma/ degree advantageous e.g. Interior Design
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in a retail, interior, or client-facing sales environment, preferably within the premium or lifestyle sector
    • Previous experience in retail or client-focused setting
    • Proven record of meeting and exceeding sales targets
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal and networking skills
    • Comfortable working with different systems and technology, including Syspro
    • Available to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays
    • Passionate about décor and Weylandts furniture and homeware products
    • Valid driver’s license and own vehicle essential
