    Structural Designer

    Job Description

    • Produce structural models and drawings in accordance with accepted Engineering practice and company drafting procedures. 
    • To work in a safe manner, complying with and actively contributing to the company Health, Safety and Environmental HSE policies, manuals and procedures. At all times considering the health, safety and welfare of fellow workers, visitors, clients, community and the environment
    • Note: This is a short term contract position based in our Mining & Minerals office in Bryanston.

    Responsibilities

    • Production of models and drawings on time and within budget.
    • Clarity and accuracy of models and drawings.
    • Knowledge and adherence to design procedures.
    • Knowledge of and adherence to applicable standards and the company Drafting Procedures.
    • Completion of error free drawings to sound engineering practices.
    • Accurate completion and timely submission of timesheets.
    • To actively pursue excellent Health, Safety and Environmental performance standards and to encourage all staff to achieve or out perform the indicated HSE KPI’s of the company
    • Detailed design and production of structural models and drawings encompassing all aspects of a plant construction package in accordance with relevant standards and project requirements.
    • Timely completion of drawings to schedules.
    • Adherence to project man-hour budgets.
    • Adherence to company Standards and Procedures

    Qualifications:

    • Drafting qualification a minimum.
    • Diploma in engineering preferred.

    Knowledge, skills and experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years design draughting experience, of which 3 years are in the mining and minerals processing area.
    • Familiar with relevant 2D & 3D CAD software, company Drafting Procedures.
    • Experience using Tekla Structures or Aveva E3D preferred.
    • Broad knowledge of construction and operations.
    • Good understanding of technology.
    • Experience with Process Plant design and layout.
    • Understanding of other discipline requirements.
    • Checking skills with ability to work unsupervised, focus on task completion.

    Senior Piping Designer

    Job Description

    • Technical Design Ability - Under supervision completes technical design work using company and client design methods, standards and data in line with Project requirements. Provision of support to designers.
    • Technical Expertise - Possesses proficient levels of technical expertise required to do the job, however continuously work towards improving and updating technical abilities. Will personally seek out opportunities to develop technical knowledge base.
    • Cross Discipline Project and Team Interaction - Appreciation of project set up and team structure across disciplines. Under guidance working with other discipline designers.   
    • Understanding and meeting schedule and schedule dependencies - Awareness of personal targets for deliverable production and deliverable schedule.
    • Commercial Awareness and Customer Focus - Under direction develops the engineering requirement.
    • Interpretation of Engineering Requirements - Under direction develops the engineering requirement.
    • Responsibilities
    • Keep informed of development in the field of computer and CAD applications as applicable to the Piping Drawing Office.
    • Keep abreast of discipline developments, new technologies and techniques.
    • Carry out technical investigations, produce technical reports as and when required.
    • Advise the Chief Piping Designer of manpower requirements to meet work schedules within the budget allocation.
    • Responsible for the correct interpretation and execution of all piping computer aided draughting functions within the Piping Drawing Office.
    • Prepare document indices for projects to ensure that the scope of work is planned economically and that target dates are known.
    • Submit monthly progress reports and drawing indices to the Project Manager / Project Engineering Manager.
    • Review requests for changes and if outside the scope of work, submit to the relevant Project Manager / Project Engineering Manager an estimate of manhours, costs and any effect to programme under the approval of Chief / Principal Designer.
    • Raise change flags when required, for work considered outside the original scope. Submit as approved, to the relevant Project Manager / Project Engineering Manager under the approval of Chief / Principal Designer.
    • Review all information available for each phase of the project and report on delays in receipt of information to the Project Supervisor.
    • Responsible for ensuring engineering and design quality, technical accuracy of drawings, specifications, procedures, etc produced within the Piping Drawing Office.
    • Responsible for the execution of assigned work in accordance with applicable contract procedures and standards, within the manhour and cost budgets and project schedules.
    • Responsible for ensuring adherence to clients and project standards.
    • Responsible for ensuring that contract procedures on safety and quality control are followed.
    • Responsible for adherence to Engineering Procedure for Design Safety and to ensure the adoption of safe attitudes towards piping design and that features affecting the safety and integrity of the projects are reviewed by appropriately authorised engineers from other groups/departments.
    • Give guidance to Piping Designers if required.

    Qualifications:

    • N3 or Matric

    Knowledge, skills and experience:

    • Microstation CAD Software Package Version J or later
    • 3D PDS experience
    • Minimum 10 Years experience
