Netwerk24 is looking for an excellent general reporter to report from Pretoria. The reporter must be able to source, investigate and report. The journalist should have an existing and extensive contact network. The suitable candidate will have the ability to get the story behind the story and gather unique information that is not available elsewhere. The journalist should have a good understanding of digital journalism, be able to record video and take photos. The suitable candidate will be able to work quickly and under pressure. The successful candidate must also be willing to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and public holidays from time to time.
Job Outputs

Report breaking news and write follow-up articles.
Edit copy for YOU’s various platforms, including print, digital and brand extensions, to ensure the language is engaging, error-free and appropriate for the target market
Check for accuracy of facts and correct spelling and grammar
Write captions, headlines and blurbs where required
Proofread for the print publication and brand extensions, when required, to ensure high-quality pages are print-ready
Translate copy, when required by the editorial director or production head of the team
Ensure that copy follows the publication’s specific style regarding grammar, language and spelling preferences
Manage sections as required by the editor
Remain informed of and implement the latest language rules as contained in the language style guide
Skills & requirements
An excellent command of English
Proven editing skills or an appropriate qualification
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
Ability to write headlines and teasers for digital and other platforms
An innate understanding of the target market
Excellent general knowledge
Ability to work in a CMS
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Highly flexible and adaptable
Excellent problem-solving and judgement abilities
Ability to proofread and, where required, sign off pages for print production
Able to work independently and make decisions in the best interest of the brand
